  1. Sorry mate, but they do. I'm currently running my Rift as a secondary / extended screen monitor, with no issues whatsoever. Main monitor displays, all the main UI, maps options etc. Click on fly and it switches over to the rift. So I only need the rift while flying. If you run DCS in the windows mode as above, you can also interact with the switches with no issues. I do full cold and dark starts only while using the rift. How I setup my rift. n display control windows, set up as extended flipped, NOT as primary monitor, In dcs detect rift is ticked, full screen mode is unticked. Had the same issue with the mouse not working with my tri setup few years ago, think it's to do with running dcs in full or window mode. It needs to run in windows mode. Cowboy10uk
  2. Guys, make sure you're not running DCS in full screen mode when using rift, tick the windows mode tick box in options. Then you should be able to interact no problems. At least that is what worked for me. Cowboy10uk
  3. Ahhhhh didn't know that. It's not something I checked as don't use them, so figured it would be off. I'll check that ASAP. Thanks mate Cowboy10uk
  4. Cheers Pman, look forward to it. Cowboy10uk
  5. Well yesterday I spent 90 mins in the Dora, the plan was to have a long flight and get used to the flying characteristics. Instead I think I spent 10 mins flying and 80 mins taxing and doing startups. :) On bright side, I can now do the startup and taxi with no issues, and I did manage to take off once, although I may have to change my shorts after I landed, as it wasn't pretty and damn right dangerous. I just can't seem to keep her on the runway. I either drift left, and the moment I try to correct I tip onto my left wing tip, or if I manage to get to flying speed, as soon as I release the stick to centre, I roll left violently and spend the rest of the trip doing cartwheels. ;) Is it the aircrafts fault, or the flight modelling. Hell no, it has to be my technique as I know others who are flying fine. It may be frustrating, but damn I'm still enjoying myself, and the one time I got flying, I was impressed at how stable she seemed to be, although she certainly dosnt want to slow down for landing does she. Slippery little mare. I would like to say I got her back onto the ground safely, but well, I'll be lying. However the second bounce did seem fairly controlled. Just before I hit the ground hard, swerved left and over turned. ;) Dooohhhhh Practise practise practise is in order. I remember when the Huey first turned up, I don't think anyone could control that lass for love or money. Lost count how many smoking holes I made. But now it's just like landing a bike, and I can put her anywhere, and do full autorotations etc. :) It's frustrating, but when you get it, damn it's satisfying . Thankyou Ed, for yet another stunning flight sim experience. Cowboy10uk
  6. Wow, this is a difficult poll, can I vote any. ;) While I have always dreamed of a Vietnam era map and aircraft to play with, which of course would require the G, I can appreciate the attraction of a more modern version and to be fair, those of us who enjoy our more vintage aircraft have been rather spoiled lately. So I guess for the good of the community and should go with the majority and vote for the W. To be honest, I'm really not bothered so long as I get another helicopter. :) Very very difficult decision indeed, not really bothered about the weapon systems, as I just tend to enjoy the flying. Hell I can't remember the last time I used any of the aircraft in DCS in anger so to speak. Cowboy10uk
  7. Damn the more I hear about this aircraft, the more I'm dreading that first flight. Hell I still can't land the Mustang without killing myself. But damn one things for certain, I know it's gonna be fun. God I love DCS Quality aircraft. Here's hoping I can finally get a flight tomorrow evening. Cowboy10uk
  8. Thankyou. I appreciate the reasons they are not included, but do prefere realistic skins. Cowboy10uk
  9. Thanks guys, selected the 109 and Spitfire now. Already got the Dora and P51. Can't wait to fly her later today. Cowboy10uk
  10. Personally I find it as easy as using a normal screen with track IR, although I did have to lock that sometimes. Just look at the switch click and your away. You don't get any of the small constant movements, that you can get with Track IR. It really is as easy as flicking a switch in real life. Sometimes though the switch location is a little off the physical switch you see. Just move the mouse over the switch you want until it turns green. Cowboy10uk
  11. Certainly are in my cockpit. I've heard others complain they are not though. I do cold and dark startups in the rift all the time with no issues, only using mouse cursor and the Hotas. Cowboy10uk
  12. Yep, at the moment I can't get MP to work with the Rift at all. When I have the oculus rift box ticked in options, MP fails to boot up and stops working. Didn't have a Dk1, so no Idea if the Rift worked before with MP or not, maybe someone else can confirm or deny that. I suspect, as we are having to use a work about to get this working at the mo, there's something in the graphical config that MP is looking for, is causing it to crash. I'm hoping once the official update turns up, that this will solve this issue. Cowboy10uk
  13. Wow answered by the man himself. :) I did actually try that and strangely enough my juddering got worse on the lower settings believe it or not. Think my PC just likes being weird. ;) Same thing happened to me when I was running a tri screen setup, I got worse FPS on the lower settings than the higher ones. But I will keep at it and try and fine adjust, I will find that magic setting sooner or later. Cowboy10uk
  14. Ok then, after messing around with settings all afternoon, my Huey cockpit is now quite usable, I can read ( well understand ) most of the dials, and certainly pretty much all of the main ones. The environment outside of the Huey is quite usable as well. Certainly a decent improvement over yesterday. Still not usable to the degree that it would replace my monitor but certainly for trying VR and enjoying flying then it's good enough. Slight juddering of the camera though and I'm certainly dizzy after an hrs session. Only slight issue that came from today, is for some reason my MP crashes everytime I try and run it with the detect oculus rift box ticked. L Has anyone any idea why, or even better has anyone managed to get it to work in MP? Cowboy10uk
  15. Please mate, that would be much appreciated. Would be over the moon if I could get the gauges clearer. As to Using Zoom, I've not tried that mate, I was staying clear of that for now as wasn't too sure how that would affect the motion sickness. I also have zoom mapped to my throttle, so guess I need to bite the bullet and test it tomorrow. Once I've recovered after being told at 18:00hrs that I was needed in work at 02:00. For a 12hr shift. :( Hey who needs sleep. So trying to stay awake by lots of coffee and living on here. :) Cowboy10uk
  16. How on earth have you managed to get the gauges so clear comparatively. Even when I lean in, I can't really read any writing on the dash or cockpit. May I ask what settings you are using? Cowboy10uk
  17. Strange, my mouse works fine when using the DK2, I can do a full startup in cockpit with no issues. My DK2 is in extended mode, however it is NOT the primary monitor, and Oculus rift is ticked in DCS options. Cowboy10uk
  18. .4 build mate. Cowboy10uk
  19. Hi guys, sorry for the late answers, went to bed. :) in answer to how to get DCS working with the DK2, I used this work about. Set the DK2 to ‘Extended Mode’ in the Oculus Config Tool by going to Tools > Rift Display Mode = ‘Extend Desktop to the HMD’ Go to Task Manager > Processes > Scroll down and select ‘wscript.exe’ then click [END PROCESS] Do the same for ‘OVRService.exe’ Then load DCS World I made sure the oculus rift tick box was ticked in DCS options. My display control panel, I have set at 1920 x 1080, extend displays with the Oculus rift in Landscape ( flipped ) All dcs world settings are running on high, no idea of framerate as I didn't check but it was fluid. I will be trying different graphical settings later today as since I can't see more than 5 miles away from the aircraft, not much point in having the program render it. :) Hope that helps. Cowboy10uk
  20. Ok then, I've been flying for a good 90 mins, and tested out the Huey, F86 and P51. Sadly no photos, as I couldn't get a decent one. Sorry will try again tomorrow. First impressions, well it's a huge improvement over DK1, however there us still a long way to go yet before the visuals are fully useful. While you can make out the artificial horizon, and the hands on the dial, sadly I still can't read any writing any of the instruments, which is disappointing. I wasnt expecting to be able to read the small writing on the centre console but was hoping instruments would be clearer. That said, it's still more than possible to do a cold and dark startup in these aircraft, certainly after a few months of practise it should be 2nd nature to all of us. :) I tried both lenses and to be honest couldn't really see a difference between them. I always thought I had pretty good eyesight, but now I'm not so sure. ;) The feeling of immersivness and the full 3D cockpit is just stunning. Looking over the edge of the cockpit in the F86 or P51 and seeing the curved fuselage perfectly in proportion in just mind blowing, and the feeling of height when hoving the Huey was really there. I honestly felt I was a few 100 Ft off the ground. I felt like I should be able to reach up and touch the cockpit it felt that real, and as a taste of things to come this just proves to me that VR is finally here to stay. :) Now the resolution at the moment, is only good for joyrides and low level flight. I would say if you want to fight with it, then you're gonna die, quickly. As has been said before here, it's almost impossible to pick out your target. The screen door effect is still there, although greatly reduced and to be honest it didn't subtract from the immersivness at all. The workaround does work well though and it's great that DCS can work with the DK2. Overall, am I impressed, HELL YES. Am I disappointed, ummmmm slightly, but I think that's due to me getting my hopes up to high for the difference the increased res would make. Don't get me wrong, it's leaps and bounds above the DK1, and it does add a whole different sim experience, and one that I never thought in my wildest dreams, I would ever get to experience in my own home. The head tracking is pretty much perfect, in fact I never had any issues with going out of range of the camera. The only issue I had was leaning over too far and hitting my head on the desk, when I was trying to focus on the Huey centre console. Oculus Rift is almost there, the DK2 has pretty much everything the home user could possible want, now once they find the perfect visuals with this system it will be the perfect simming hardware. At the moment I would liken the DK2 to a Mustand with an Allison engine, the potential is showing, but can't quite be reached yet. We just need to find the DK2's Merlin for the true throughbred to turn up, and I'm fairly confident that it will happen. Can I recommend the DK2, well so long as you're aware of the limitations, yes without a shadow of a doubt. So long as you just want to experience flying, rather than fighting with your aircraft then there isn't anything that I feel even comes close for the home user with limited room and funds. Now I still have to try Asseto Corsa, Star Citizen and Elite dangerous and I'm positive that the DK2 will provide stunning immersion in these games as well. I will admit though, that a lot of the blurry ness could be caused by my settings, as I did really just guess at the best ones. Cowboy10uk
  21. Ummmmm, don't actually own a camera. I can try and get something with my Iphone if that would help though. Just watching a program with the misses,( got to get those brownie points ) then I'll hopefully be wheels up about 22:00 ish. Cowboy10uk
  22. I'll be firing it up in about 30 mins, to try the Huey and F86 Will report back after my flight Cowboy10uk
  23. On bright side, at least the workaround works. :) Maybe I'll get flying after all. Only fly Helos anyway, and they don't have huds. ;) Cowboy10uk
  24. Just wondering if anyone has tried this workaround for the DK2, to see if we can get it to work with DCS. It does seem to have some success with a number of games including Elite Dangerous. Sadly still waiting for mine to turn up, so unable to try myself. Might be a way to fly while we wait for an official fix. Set the DK2 to ‘Extended Mode’ in the Oculus Config Tool by going to Tools > Rift Display Mode = ‘Extend Desktop to the HMD’ Go to Task Manager > Processes > Scroll down and select ‘wscript.exe’ then click [END PROCESS] Do the same for ‘OVRService.exe’ Then load DCS World Cowboy10uk
  25. Thanks for that quick writeup Wags, sounds like it will be great fun, and luckily I only tend to fly the UH1, MI8, P51 and now the F86. So it sounds like I'll be able to get a lot of of the rift. I was expecting that spotting targets may be a struggle though, I can't even spot them on a full tri monitor system now. :) Hopefully We can find a fix for the DK2 comparability soon. Cowboy10uk
