  1. His opinions are outdated, incorrect and asinine. Here's a good one: 1:10 in..he goes on a rip about how the F-15 was bloated with "two engines, a big radar, everything the air force wanted" and calls it junk. The F-15..the most successful air superiority fighter in history. Just watch the video..he's an old fool trying to desperately pretend his idea (IE the very very original F-16) is still the way forward. No multi-role, no real radar, no ability to be useful the other 75% when enemy fighters aren't a factor..
  2. Yep..there's only two times they're all clean and fresh with brand new paint, smooth edges and bright lettering.. When they're brand new (or freshly rebuilt) or when there's been a fairly dramatic cockpit rebuild. I got a chance, multiple times, to see some of VX-9 and VX-30's test Tomcat cockpits..and somehow or another..they were actually rougher than the fleet aircraft.
  3. Yep..HB's really making waves and being super impressive. I'd say probably as near as possible to a maximum fidelity simulator outside of the sims at Oceana..which were dumbed down when released to the public at Pensacola.
  4. So..kind of an off the wall question.. Neofightr..did you ever have the desire (or opportunity) to do exchange tours? I know a few Tomcat pilots expressed a desire to go over and do a tour with the RAF in Tornados and such and a few Hornet pilots went over and spent time in Vipers and Eagles. Also..the (yearly?) NSAWC re-blue..obviously necessary and important..did they ever feel old-hat..the "yeah yeah..we know" feeling?
  5. No no you're cool..I honestly didn't realize the majority of active duty Vipers overseas had the GE motors
  6. I am bested sir..I'm more of an Eagle/Tomcat guy so I know less of the Viper.. I'll defer to your experience
  7. No I know..as one VX-9 Tomcat driver told me... "If I'm in BFM ..somewhere I've screwed up"
  8. Not sure about Wizzos (WSO's), but RIO's (Phantom/Tomcat) and BN's (A-6) were NFO's, Naval Flight Officers..and where not technically pilots (ahem..Naval Aviators).
  9. The last I saw from Heatblur was a blurb on a comment on their FB page that they're still planning on a "later in 2017" release for the F-14B. That's all I've seen.
  10. That Desert Falcon life
  11. Question for you..if it's not already been addressed.. What was your take on the F-14A vs the B/D in relation to BFM/ACM against them in the Hornet? I believe the F-14A's optimum corner velocity was around 350 knots..which isn't that far off from the Hornet. Of course the Alpha cat couldn't regain energy as well since the TF30's were touchy to aggressive throttle movement and, as you said, slower to spool up.
  12. Yes I know.. But this isn't that other three letter sim...we're unlikely to get multiple different blocks of F-16's. I simply meant that while the Block 52 has different electronic/sensor capabilities around the world..the basic raw performance is mostly the same..that being a Block 52 with the PW F100-P229 motor.
  13. Anywho... Honestly..I think the "best bang for the buck" would be a Block 52. It's used by a wide array of nations around the world and fits the general timeframe for the rest of the DCS aircraft..(late 90's early 2000's)
  14. DCS: Doug Masters
  15. The photo plane was a B-25 :) And yeah, the low stall pull out wasn't as low as they made it look, I think he said they pulled out at a few hundred feet. Risky? Yeah..but not the OMG EXTREME DANGER they hyped it to be in the film by dubbing in his wifes scream over the sound track lol
  16. But it's like mini corn dogs.. Utter crap but soooo good!
  17. https://www.amazon.com/Final-Countdown-Widescreen-Kirk-Douglas/dp/B000096IAC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1500579691&sr=8-3&keywords=the+final+countdown It's not explicitly about the F-14, however VF-84 (and a few shots of VF-41) are featured pretty front and center. There's also a bit of sweet RF-8G action.
  18. Yeah, they've said several times that the NTTR map won't be expanded at all.
  19. With Naval Ops starting up in earnest soon with DCS Hornet and DCS Tomcat and DCS Harrier.. What about a Southern California map? With a map below you could have.. NAS China Lake NAS Point Mugu NAS/MCAS Miramar MCAS Yuma NAS North Island The China Lake Ranges The Pacific Missile Test Center Ranges San Clemente Island (reserve NAF) It would just be a great map for lots of Naval Ops http://imgur.com/A0C5CEK
  20. Honestly..watching the videos of the Su-33 PFM that's going to be formally added soon.. It makes the carrier ops mod we have now as well as BMS's carrier ops look like they were done in claymation
  21. There's a good reason why Dos Gringos, when singing about the Hornet said.."Living to fight slow while others scorn it"
  22. I can see it now.. "<<Player>>..NG-RTFM"
  23. Basically you want a greenie board. This would need to be something, like probad said, to be addressed by ED itself.
  24. Post stall maneuvering is always a crowd pleaser!
  25. The upcoming Hornet add on to the Warthog HOTAS will be more than enough for the Tomcat.
