  1. Right I think I got it, I saw the matrix before I posted and the fact Wags had edited his post about DCS F15 and the website info page to reflect it was "DCS Flaming Cliffs". So confusion ensued. So is it going to be an expansion/addon in it's own right, but under the Flaming Cliffs banner instead of a true DCS aircraft, or remain part of FC as whole?
  2. And when I check the forums this morning it seems like the DCS f15 isn't what we thought it might be yesterday, ie it's not 'really dcs' as we think of it (bs, a10 etc), but instead still part of flaming cliffs. Is this correct?
  3. Would it just not have been easier to take your computer 'into town' and do the update?
  4. I don't have that folder, sorry. Can I install the 1.2.8 web over the top of my 1.2.7 "normal" install?
  5. Just for the record it was 1.2.7 (DCS_World_OpenBeta_web_3.exe)
  6. Is there a guide on how to do that?
  7. That might explain it then. Can I update my 1.2.7 to the 1.2.8 web installer, or do I have to start again? I am thinking I am better to jump over now before I get too settled in.
  8. Hmmm, I will take a look at the install file when I get home. Has 1.2.7 ever had a beta that was about a 20MB download and then about 12GB download in program? Anyway, that's sort of a side issue, this was more about the combining of the licenses.
  9. Well I downloaded it from the site, I am pretty sure it was labelled up as 1.2.8 Beta.
  10. Hello, I installed DCS World 1.2.8 last week and it didn't like my Black Shark install at all, so I removed it and installed 1.2.7 which was quite happy to accept my BS install. However, I was wondering is there an "upgrade path" to change my BS1 and BS2 Upgrade into a single BS2 install? The install process is a bit of a faff at the moment and caused issues with 1.2.8 so I was wondering if I had missed something in the many months I haven't been around that would enable me to convert my licences into a single one? Cheers.
  11. Cheers chaps!
  12. Well it's been a while, but it's about time I got back into some flying. The last time I played anything DCS it was the original BS and a newish version of A10. To be honest I barely got chance to play much A10, but I had many hours in the shark. I can comfortably say that I am a bit out of date, I think the last time I played was back last year. I own A10, BS 1 & 2 (purchased 2 but never played it) and obviously I need to get around to getting the P51 at some point. But if we discount that for the time being can someone let me know what the hell I need to download and install now? I read about this DCS world or something, and how it ties everything together. I also have the TM Warthog, so if anyone can advise me on: Recommended TM W black shark profiles What I need to download to be up to date with the games and have all the bits installed Recommended mods - I remember some being required (including my own) to make the game usable and attractive, is this still the case? Cheers.
  13. Quote: "As you may have deduced, 61 inches at 3,000 RPM is full Military, or Takeoff power, nominally limited to 15 minutes. Let’s take a brief look at War Emergency Power (WEP) mode, nominally limited to 5 minutes of operation. WEP can be mechanically implemented in a number of ways. The first option is to artificially lower the pressure acting on the aneroid by opening an escape line, resulting in an opening of the throttle valve by the regulator so as to “maintain” pressure - while in fact boosting it beyond the value set by the throttle handle. This method was used on early Mustangs, which featured a special control handle in the cockpit to engage WEP. Another option is to design the throttle linkage assembly such that the relay piston is in the fully closed position when the throttle handle is set to full military power. The pilot would then push the throttle handle past this setting into the WEP position, further opening the throttle valve and the relay piston would be unable to act upon it to close it. And the final option is to design the linkage system such that the throttle handle position past full military power would produce manifold pressure up to 67 or even 75 in.Hg. Given the limitations of most HOTAS controllers used by virtual pilots, DCS Mustang will model the first method. This allows us to avoid having to rely on throttle detents or limit their range of movement in the pre-WEP range. As such, we will have a dedicated input command to engage WEP as a simulation of a cockpit control handle. " Any chance of offering the second one as an option? I assume this would allow us to use out WH after burner indent?

    ModMan

Hello just a quick one. Does anyone know if ModMan is still being updated? Looking at CheckSix it looks like the last update was the middle of 2010. Since then we have had BS2 and A10 and the list of supported titles doesn't include them (looking at the website). I also note that the majority of the mods for the A10 in the file repository seem to be manual install jobs indicating ModMan either not working or falling out of favour.
  15. It's a bit extreme, but an SSD will speed up your load times imeasurably, but RAM will also be a big help. I can load a mission in seconds with A10C on my SSD. They also help to minimise those stutters you get as new things are loaded in as your flying around. I just tested the "Introduction to the A10C" training mission (the very first training mission) and from selecting the mission and pressing "start" to loaded and ready took 22 seconds. Actual loading (with the loading bar) took about 10 seconds. In BS2 "Altitude EN" from pressing "Fly" to being ready took 20 seconds. To be fully open about this the rest of my machine is also pretty fast (16GB RAM, Win 7 64bit I5 2500k @ 4.5Ghz), but the SSD is doing most of the leg work on loading. Admittedly the SSD is one of the fastest available (Crucial M4 with the latest firmware), but any SSD is many many times faster than a standard hard drive. I am not posting that show off, I am merely giving you context to work with the figures I have supplied. So if you wish to radically change your loading times I strongly advocate an SSD. You don't have to run Windows on it (although that will also speed things up) so you don't need a massive one. 128GB would probably suffice to fit all your games on. I have a 256GB SSD and have over 150 GB left, it's got Windows 7 on it and loaded up with all other manner of software and games.
  16. LOL snap :D
  17. I had exactly this tonight. I fixed it by unticking the "Syncronize HOTAS controls" blah blah blah option. I think my Warthog throttle had some settings missmatched. Other things that has caused my plane to randomly get inputs was that the default settings had bound an x and y axis to my pedals. So if I pushed the pedals either way and accidently put some brake in I would be inputting roll or pitch commands as well.
  18. Effte Lol, you have some rep inbound for that!
  19. LOL well that will explain it then! Is that a bug or are there real pilots snapping the switch off trying to get those elusive extra 10 degrees?
  20. I have had A10 for a bit and for various reasons I haven't really had chance to play it. Yesterday I received my TM Warthog and decided to remedy my lack of playing and have a fly. Now I am slightly confused, I don't know if I have to reset my controls back to default or what, but I can't get the flaps to go full. Like I said I have had very little time in the cock pit (done a few circuits but that's been it before last night). The TM has a 3 stage flap switch next to the split throttle but there are 4 stages indicated on the flaps guage. Full up, then 10,20,30 degrees. With the switch fully down I only get to 20. Any ideas?

  22. As the title says, which screens are people mainly using? The computer shops I usually buy from don't stock any touch screens (have they...excuse the pun, not "taken off"?) so I have not seen much of them. Any advice on what people use, the specifications and the shortfalls etc would be helpful. Also I am thinking of going for more than one screen for Helios, but due to wanting one in the middle and to be even I am thinking 3. Are there enough features in helios to warrant this? Also what kind of fps hit would that likely make? An alternative would be to run the main display + another for Helios and mfd export, then Helios on a different pc for the 2 monitors. Is this do-able? Everything I read seems to say so. This might be especially attractive if the fps hit is high.
  23. Hahahaha my bad, you actually have to get in the cockpit. I never got that far yesterday. It asked for the key, installed, verified and now I am on the tarmac.
  24. I did this yesterday. Purchased it on Steam, didn't download it, downloaded everything from ED and installed it. But at no point was I prompted for my key, it just installed and worked. Is this supposed to happen?
