  1. That was my point though, it's not the same price, not for me in the UK anyway. The site sells in USD, I am in the UK so USD has to be converted to GBP and then the banks add all there little extras. It ended up at about £30. Steam sell in your local currency (for the "popular" countries anyway), in my case GBP, so what you see is what you pay. As in £19.99, this is on top of it already being cheaper than ED where selling it anyway. And I agree, I wanted to give ED my money directly and if it was just a couple of £ I would have done so, but I am trying to save the pennies at the moment, so I had to take the Steam route. Sorry ED... I do feel like I have betrayed you slightly :(
  2. Many thanks. I just got it off steam. I suddenly remembered my bank doesn't use the actual exchange rate, they like to add bits. So after I ran it through there calculator it was nearly £30, Steam was the obvious choice then. Cheers.
  3. Really? So I basically just use Steam to purchase it and then just get it from ED? Will the DL be available from ED? I can't remember back to when I got DS, but I don't remember the link being available until I purchased it on there page.
  4. Hello, I am, probably, now in a position to start putting a bit of time back into simulators after my hiatus, so I thought I would pick up A10. I notice there is currently a sale on both here and on Steam. Steam has it for £19.99 and it's about £24.50 here (assuming todays exchange rate). I bought BS direct from ED, but I quite like the idea of Steam (got it, but never bought anything as usually the deals have ended when I get home to buy them). But apart from the £4.50 saving, are there any disadvantages/advantages to the steam version? For instance: Are the patches released at the same time? Do the mods work? Does ModMan work? Is there anything different about the releases? Sorry if this has been posted before, but there are quite a few new posts since I last really looked at this forum :D

  6. I can't help but think that all the leaders speaking need to shift there joy from him being killed, to him being stopped. They keep saying (paraphrasing) "we are glad he's been killed/died". This sounds rather to inflamitory to me, surely "we are happy that Osama Bin Laden has been stopped, killed in an American action to capture him". Going to kill him with a bomb or a missle is one thing, no chance of taking prisoners, going in with soldiers gives you a chance to take someone alive. Talking about killing OBL seems a little pot calling kettle black. Still at least (they say) they gave him a respectful burial inline with his beliefs. Taking the morale high ground is a good idea. And with him being "dead" (let's start the conspiracy theories) he can't be put on trial, if he was on trial all sorts of people would be inline for kidnapping (and worse) in an attempt to get him released. Well that's my 2p worth.
  7. I agree, with cannon vs tank just go home. I have never had success with it, although I have enjoyed watching the tracer ricochet around. At the kind of distance you can survive at your not landing a great deal of rounds, at least not enough to actually blow the thing up. I have only ever seen one sucessful tank get destroyed and that was on MP. The chap straffed the tank virtually point blank and used up virtually all his rounds, but the tank did explode. Of course in RL this would have been folly as we were only a few KMs away from an airbase and I was sitting about 6 KMs away in a hover launching Vikers.
  8. Have you tried just installing them?
  9. It's bound to be someone cool, that's all I can think of...oh wait: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=931051#post931051
  10. I think I remember these, weren't they some big expo type thing where people went and did dog fights against each other? I seem to remember it being the "next big thing" in entertainment. Think lazer quest kind of era and finish and you sort of have an idea of the crappyness by todays standards.
  11. Oh don't worry, I didn't take offence, I was just letting you know :)
  12. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12798183 - Pics - Not overly interesting http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-12785746 - Weapons breakdown - Nice to see the Sentinal making an appearance.
  13. The language in the missions is part of the mission and not something you can over-ride. This mod basically takes the game back to v1.01 when Betty and the GC (etc) spoke English. As for the mission speech, I was planning on re-recording all of it into Russian accented English, but it was so time consuming that after the first mission I gave up. I might start again if the requirement was there, but I think most people have moved onto WH.
  14. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12794623 I don't think there is much choice now, get the jets up in AA mode and prepare for ground pounding by this evening.
  15. I would be interestred in seeing the ones regected. Those are nice pics btw.
  16. Then you shouldn't be getting that much pixelation, the onboard upscaling smoothes out the picture. Obviously your going to get something as a lower res. Have you tried increasing your res but removing the aa/af?
  17. If your un-installing an nvidia card to put another back in you won't need to run a driver cleaner because your putting them back on 10 minutes later.
  18. Looking at your sig your running an NVidia GPU. Always make sure you switch the NVidia control panel scaling mode to "Use NVidia scaling with fixed-aspect ratio". This will stop your monitor having to do the upscaling and thus gives you a much smoother picture. Be aware this setting seems to get reset randomly back to "Use my display's built-in scaling" - or monitor upscaling for short. Anyway that should allow you to run in full screen mode without too many upscaling artifacts and thus then get a FPS boost. I am slightly worried though, your machine is not too disimilar to mine and I was hoping I could run A10. BS runs fine on mine at 1920x1200 and virtually everything on max, with 8xAA and 4xAF (I think it's 4).
  19. That comes across as hostile to me. Yes only because when your using less than the amount of something that is available, so you are ONLY using X amount of a total.
  20. Ok, I think you need to disengage your fawning mode :P I jest, GAs trailers and videos are good, but that trailer...for me had something very special, rarely seen in hollywood trailers and not something that I have ever seen in a game trailer.
  21. Erm why the hostility? I was answering his question regarding the cores, I don't get why you got all defensive, my previous post was in defence of ED on the core issue.
  22. Yes, but it only uses 2 cores. Windows can move the processes around to different cores (to the one(s) with the least load). I don't think the game can do that though can it?
  23. I considered that, but he's running at 1280x800, which isn't double screen resolution.
  24. Why do you run in windowed mode?
  25. Yes but your rig isn't standard by any stretch of the imagination. Most users will have 2+ cores, with anything from 0 to 4 cores doing nothing but Windows stuff. There is plenty of GHz available for the devs, they just need to get access to it on the different cores. Like has been said in this post, it's on the cards, as ED re-codes different sections of the engine (and if it's possible, you can't just offload code to another core) then they will do it. I don't see why you can run the AI on another core though, that would help in the big misions...and let's face it, they can be thick at times so it should run happily with 200Mhz :D
