  1. It's a Acer T272HL. As a monitor it's not fantastic, the colours aren't great and it's got a few other issues. However I got it for just over £200, so I was happy with the cost, after all it's a 27" touch screen! In the end I got it as a touch screen interface device, not as a monitor per se. Next to my 27" dell it's terrible, but for controlling things it's great.
  2. Hello, I have got myself a touch screen after seeing some amazing videos of people using HELIOS. Now it seems that HELIOS was primarily designed for the A10 and later the BS. However it appears that other people have been extending it with new profiles and export scripts and have begun to include other aircraft, with varying degrees of success. I also notice something out there called DCS BIOS (this seems something that should have been a 1st party development, so well done those working on that!). Coupled together, DCS BIOS and HELIOS would seem to be an ideal team. But for the moment it appears that there are many different profiles using there own export lua. So where does one begin? Which aircraft are supported? I own FC3 and most of the DCS hanger, so I would ideally want something HELIOS for all of them, but I appreciate that might not be possible. I know there is a significant difference between what's possible for FC3 and DCS aircraft (clickable vs none). So in short: Which aircraft are compatible? Which aircraft have good panels and what are they? (I like the look of the Capt Zeen ones, but there doesn't seem to be a good profile repository so I am not sure what I might be missing) Are any using DCS BIOS, or do they all have there own export.lua? Is that a problem? I thought that you got one export.lua for all aircraft and thus there may be differences between the ones for each panel and thus you need to swap out the export.lua on changing aircraft? Is it possible to run HELIOS and DCS full screen or do we still have to use windowed mode? (I read something about using software triple head to go or something, what's that about?) I have many questions and I am not really sure where to start, but with a lack of time to test everything out I wanted to tap into the expertise on these boards, so I appreciate any help you can give.
  3. This, I had the same problem a bit ago, this fixed it.
  4. LOL, ah apologies :D
  5. 1600W is beyond overkill unless your going multi-gpu? You're better to spend your money on a PSU with a good rating that actually achieves it without instead of marketing numbers.
  6. I would wait. At the moment DCS is mainly bottlenecked by the CPU, I can't imagine that's going to change considerably. If/when they start adding more graphics bells and whistles then the GPU requirement might come up to meet the CPU requirement, but the CPU is always going to where it's at for sims. Of course, this is also dependent on the amount of screens and the resolution you play at. As for RAM, is Edge going to be 64bit? If not I would imagine 8GB to be perfectly fine. What's the VRAM amount on the 560 Ti? The K at the end of your CPU classification means it's got an unlocked multiplier, meaning that it's effectivly got a big red sticker on it saying "OVERCLOCK ME YA B******D". So if you have good airflow in your case (and the space) get a better cooler (unless you have a good one already?) and overclock your CPU. I have an i5 2500K (Sandybridge not Ivybridge like you) and get a stable 4.5GHz out of it.
  7. Cheers for the posts chaps. A picture would be helpful. Are we talking about the red part, or the whole slot in piece?
  8. I recently got back into DCS and bought the Sabre in the recent sale. I took her up on the weekend along with my new control layout and she was a treat to "fly". It felt so smooth and responsive...and the a/c just felt right, not massively complicated and good fun as well. I think I prefer this era of aircraft over the more modern jets.
  9. Hello, Does anyone know of a mod for the after burner detent to change it from a lift in and out to more of a bump? I want to get to the gate and be able to push through it with enough force instead of having to lift, but still know I am about to light the fires. I find the lift in and out at the beginning fine, but the AB one seems really difficult, certainly something I can't do subconsciously and have to concentrate.
  10. Same here, was someone upgrading something in the back end, or should we be more worried? It could be someone was probing the script for a weakness or it was just a general attack to see what happened. I am hoping it's ED. I had two emails by the way.
  11. I use/used ctrl+alt+ arrow keys, which I then have as a keystrokes on keyboard short cuts. That way your unlikely to ever hit anything in a game that will conflict. Sometimes though, games that use the ctrl and/or alt modifiers, still have problems.
  12. Did you get it working? When you say browsers and OSs, which did you use? I purchased some yesterday on Win 7 FF 32.03 (which I have just seen is out of date) and it was all fine. Are you running any ad/code blockers?
  13. Loving the lighting!
  14. What's involved in created a profile? Are we talking coding or graphics?
  15. Not strictly true, they are only available to UK IP addresses, but I take your point. However there are also other UK people here.
  16. This one passed me by, I only came across it by accident: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b04lcxms/cosmonauts-how-russia-won-the-space-race It was rather good, although be prepared for subtitles.
  17. Morning all, Helios seems to offer exactly what I want, in that I can place the controls I want on a clickable interface and reduce the amount of looking around the cockpit I have to do. However, I see a lot of videos of people using for A10 and not a lot of else. It got me wondering, does Helios support other DCS titles? £200+ is a lot to spend on a monitor if it only supports the A10. I still love the Ka50, and plan on flying a few jets in FC, so other support is important for me. Cheers.
  18. Odd...I wonder what the problem actually was.
  19. Are you using the Pro version (the lights) or the cap system? You don't mention about any acceleration you are using, so how far is your head turned for you to see the tail? If the angle is too extreme then light separation isn't enough and the system stops sending inputs to the sim. In the TiR software are all 3 points visable and seperate from each other with no convergence when your head is in the "looking at tail" position? If you now try and "zoom in" do any of the points converge?
  20. Probably not related, but do a virus check to make sure you don't have anything using your GPU to mine bitcoins. If you run benchmarks on your GPU do you experience the same problem? Download and install MSI Afterburner, run that while you play. When the game drops leave it recover and then alt tab out and take a look at the graphs, did anything obvious happen? You can also setup an Afterburner server on your machine and monitor various GPU information on your phone or tablet, although that's probably not necessary.
  21. A pinkie is, as far as I am aware, an Americanism for little finger. So if your holding the stick it's the button inside the grip but right at the bottom of the stick... Near your pinkie.
  22. Tracer I had to check that as well, I had the original FC, skipped FC2 and I ended up with FC3 the other day. I honestly can't even remember where my lock on disc is. Once you installed the original FC you never had to use the lock on disc again and I have moved house several times since then :)
  23. I still haven't got around to learning the HOG, however my advice from BS is to help yourself. I am going to assume you know how to "fly" because if you don't starting with DCS is possibly not the easiest curve to be on. FC would be a better place to start. To start, open up the mission editor, drop an A10 on the ramp of your favourite air base, set it up as you, save it and then load it. Get in the cockpit and use the "auto start" key stroke, taxi and take off. Get used the the a/c, learn how it handles. It should be pretty straight forward where the flaps are and gear controls are, and that's pretty much all you need to begin with. Do take off's and landings, low passes, approaches etc. Just get used to flying it. - Remember it's just you, no need to worry about other a/c or ATC etc. Next, find or create a document with the start up procedure in it. Print it out and follow it, rinse and repeat this on the basic mission you created. As your confidence grows throw in bad weather and times that vary from 1200hrs in the middle of summer. Now edit the mission and put in a few trucks parked up somewhere and load up on a different weapons. Watch a few videos on youtube about how to fire them and go blow up those trucks. Once your confident with different setups change the mission, hide some tanks or put something in that can shoot back. - I admit at this point the HOG is going to be far more complex than the BS, but that thing is more difficult to fly at first than the HOG, so it's swings and roundabouts. Now you are that you are fairly confident in operating the HOG you can either get online or fly the missions.
  24. Cheers chaps, the credit card will make an appearance later tonight I think :D
  25. Hello, I was looking at purchasing FC3 in the near future and now I notice it's on sale, so maybe I will pull the trigger now, but I am slightly confused with what's for sale. I can buy FC3 for $19.99 I can buy the F15C for $19.99 I can buy the Su25 for $8.99 I can buy the A10A for $8.99 But if I am reading the E-Shop correctly the F15C, the Su25 and the A10A are all included in FC3 anyway (I had the original FC and I remember them being in that). This is made all the more confusing that the F15C and FC3 are both the same price, so why would you ever buy the F15C on it's own? I know FC3 is normally more expensive so maybe it does contain everything. So can someone confirm if there is a difference between FC3 and it's planes and buying the modules individually? Cheers PS - I tried searching but I haven't got a clue what to search for to find this out.
