Aim120 can be trashed with a barrel roll and chaff headon
Chizh replied to GRY Money's topic in Weapon Bugs
This is not true. Over two decades, we have collected quite a large amount of information on this missile. Starting from the size and weight, ending with seeker operating parameters. We conducted aerodynamic studies of the missile body, which allowed us to create a flight dynamics model. But, unfortunately, there is no precise information on the fuse. -

I'm also not talking about maneuverability, but about the capabilities of the missile control system. Are there any official references on the range of the AIM-120 proximity fuse? -

Aim120 can be trashed with a barrel roll and chaff headon

I will not give any deadlines. Developing weapons with a lack of information is a very complex and non-trivial task. I hope for understanding. -
The reasons for the interest in lattice wing devices are its unique aerodynamic and structural characteristics, which offer, in comparison to the conventional monoplane surfaces, a combination of some benefits and drawbacks. The advantages are in particular (see e.g. [1]-[7], [16]): 1) the high aerodynamic effectiveness at low weight and volume; 2) well adjustable aerodynamic characteristics for wide ranges of Mach numbers and deflection angles; 3) enhanced yaw stability at high incidence angles and improved roll stability; 4) small hinge moments with minimal shift of the centre of pressure; 5) compact size and possibility to be folded down to the fuselage (Figure 1b) making the missile more compact and easier to store or transport. The biggest disadvantages of these wings are their relatively high drag levels at given lift characteristics as well as the weak stability at transonic speeds. The first one emerges because of the multi-plane construction of grid fins. The second disadvantage is due to the chocking of the cell flow in the transonic regime, which happens because of the typical rectangular form of each grid fin cell. These are serious disadvantages and can have a negative effect on realistic applications. If, for example, favourable aerodynamic effectiveness and yaw stability at high incidence angles are making lattice wings very attractive for high-speed agile missiles, the substandard wave drag is completely discrediting it in this situation. Therefore, the high speed applications of lattice wings are actually undisputed only as drag braking devices or stabilisers for control of bombs and dispensers or as control elements for very-short-range missiles where the high resistance certainly plays only a minor role. So, in the last years grid fins were implemented e.g. on the biggest non-nuclear Massive Ordnance Air Blast (MOAB) bomb as well as on smaller high-precision Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM).

Aim120 can be trashed with a barrel roll and chaff headon
Chizh replied to GRY Money's topic in Weapon Bugs
I don't know what the range of SD-10 the proxy fuse in reality. I want and will not answer for it. Ask Deka please. We also have SME. Moreover, I gave you a text in which this maneuver is clearly described as the most effective against all types of missiles. Therefore, I believe that we have done everything correctly here. Once again. You exceeded the missile's maneuver capabilities. Medium-range missiles are not designed for targets maneuvering at 10g. -

In this track you were hit by 120. -

The SD-10 missile was made by a Chinese team on an outdated model. It does not use all the new developments of the component model, which is presented in AMRAAM. The same applies to the R-77. It still needs to be improved. There is nothing ideal in the world. And there are no ideal missiles that can hit any target. Each system has its limitations. Including speed and maneuverability. That is why anti-missile maneuvers exist, which allow aircraft to avoid being hit. Read the document I posted. This is a fragment of the real document for fighter pilots. Most Air-to-Air missiles are designed to hit targets with g-load up to 9g. Only modern close-combat missiles are designed for a higher target g-load, up to 12g. Your g-load in tracks was about 10g. -

I don't see a problem. You're doing a heavy anti-missile maneuver with G loading 10g. It's a very effective maneuver in reality. Please read this Maneuverable counteraction to missiles EN.pdf -
Write what exactly confuses you. We will try to figure it out and explain.

Salvo doesn't work for unguided rockets
Chizh replied to Supernova-III's topic in Su-25 for DCS World
The simplified implementation of the FC Su-25 does not imply modeling all subtleties of the weapon system. When/if we make a full-fidelity Su-25, all the features will be taken into account. -
Of course. When white paper with details of CCM will be created.
