I recently threw myself again in the mission editor. A few useful options to have would be these: - Bingo fuel condition for AI. Basically if AI is bingo fuel, then flag or whatever you need. - Refuel AI with an added option to link it to a specific tanker. That way you avoid having 2 AI groups chasing the same tanker while there's a second tanker nearby. - Trigger to light up the runway, useful for designers who want to use custom ATC coms instead of the default ones. - in the trigger window, grouping triggers would be a great option to have. A bit like group layers in Photoshop.

Pilot skin looking like it should be in Total Recall
Lookiss replied to Lookiss's topic in Object Bugs
Ok so the evil looking pilot and the AI pilot with the extra face on his belly are both in stable and open beta. -

Btw, this is Stable, error still present after clean up and repair track added. pilot body error.trk -
Looks like the pilots seem a bit scrambled. This is for A-10A and A-10C, not A-10C II. Is this just me? This happened after the last update.

Trigger multiple radio transmissions to mimic com with wingman
Lookiss replied to Lookiss's topic in Mission Editor
Ok thanks for that input. In the end I went for a combination of everything, but it's hard to keep track when checking and re-checking everything in the trigger table. For my next mission I'm just going to use the radio transmissions and create zones near where the transmission occurs, and flags to stop transmission. I remember reading that ED was working on "Message to group", but with a frequency option. That would be easier, since you wouldn't need to stop the transmission each time. -
Sorry if this has been addressed already. I couldn't find anything searching the forum. Essentially I'd like to set several radio transmissions between me and my wingman on the UFH AM freq (or any other), to be triggered by flags or zones. From what I was able to find, I can have a radio transmission start triggered by a flag (either through a radio item F10 or "Start wait user response"). And each time stop the transmission in a next trigger, for example time since flag x. I enter multiple zones from which the transmissions are being emitted, according to the where the planes are. In theory this should work, but it's quite convoluted... I know, the easy solution would be "message to group'", but then frequency of your radio doesn't matter. I can also enter a trigger command for the unit itself and have it triggered by AI TASK PUSH. But what if I have multiple transmissions? You can't set condition flags in there. And then there's the radio transmissions you can set as advanced waypoint actions with flags. But I assume these are valid as from that WP, but what if they're triggered when you're far past that WP. Will they still work? I'd like to experiment with that, but maybe someone already has and could spare me the headache :). I have a feeling the solution will be a combination of all of the above depending on the situation in the particular phase of the mission. Any tips are welcome.

Thanks, it's what I thought as well.

Hello, back to DCS after a couple of years and diving into the mission editor again. I was wondering and maybe someone can help me. I'm building a mission in which the A-10C is in touch with a command center. Would that commander center communicate on the UHF AM frequencies or on the VHF AM frequencies? My initial thought would be UHF AM... thanks

I only make screenshots, yes...

I've been away from DCS for about a year. The 2.5 looks very nice and with the Hornet finally released and other new aircraft cooking things look very promising. But I'm a bit disappointed to see that after so long the 3d models of many AI aircraft are still the old ones. I know there's a new SU-34 being prepped. But is there any news on the rest of the AI aircraft? Having updated models of these does improve immersion a lot I think and expands the possibilities when creating missions in ME. I avoid those old models in missions because they make me cringe a little bit... It would be great if ED would keep us posted on those developments... I know these things take time, but shouldn't these be a bit higher on the to-do list now after all those years?

I wouldn't mind as long as it can be used in a generic way, meaning over different eras. That way you can create a playground for older jets. But a Northern European map is more urgent now I think. What is the Viggen doing in Georgia?

A-4 (any version), F-4B, FJ-3M, G-91Y, F-104G/S, Buccaneer, F-84F... ah endless list. But without the maps to go with them, they would seem a bit out of place. I think it's very important that more maps are being developed so that more possibilities open up to develop more types of aircraft for various scenarios and eras. I hope/expect this to happen after the merge... fingers crossed.

This was probably reported, although I haven't found it in the forum. These types of parking spots in Kobuleti (see pic) are ignored by AI. If a plane is already parked there, AI will still park there and obviously collide. I'm not sure if it's the case at Kutaisi as well, but it is at Kobuleti.

better 3d objects / AI aircraft models are very important
Lookiss replied to Dino1981's topic in DCS Core Wish List
I'm sure ED is aware of this, but it seems that they have more pressing things to do. I suppose the F/A-18C and the 2.5 merge have a higher priority in their agenda. Since Belsimtek is developing the F-4E and Heartblur the F-14, these models will probably end up replacing the AI ones in the game. But I'd be very happy to see updated models of those F-16's, Mig-23/27's and Su-17's. Not to mention the bombers... An AI F-111F wouldn't be bad either. -
42 first sim Jane's USNF 97 (good times...)

Not really... the Strait of Hormuz is a modern day map. I'd prefer a map that is not necessarily era-specific. It opens up a lot more possibilities. Not much, but we can make a lot happen in DCS. Plenty of fictional conflicts waiting to happen. It's a game in the end... Kuril islands have been disputed by Russia and Japan for a long time. It's just a nice place for a fictional theatre. But of course the other regions you mention would also work nicely. In terms of maps there are plenty of ideas From a gaming point of view, the North would be more interesting. More triple AAA and SAM threats, SEAD missions, escort missions etc. But we all have our preferences of course :)
-
My two cents: Kuril Islands (remember Janes USNF 97?) What with the AV-8B getting closer, this classic theatre could be brought back to life. A lot of sea, and not that much land mass to map. Could be a feasible project and reasonably fast to realize. Southern Italy + North Africa (Libya) Preferably 60's map, but could used for later scenarios or even ealier scenarios... North Vietnam (+ Da Nang) + Thailand... no brainer Fictional Desert map, bit like the one we have in SF2, with two opposing fictional countries respectively supported by NATO and Soviets...
-
It'd be great if ED would start thinking about late 50's, early 60's jets at some point. Too many aircraft, among which the F-8 would be a prime candidate. But without a proper map that reflects that era, these modules would be orphans, much like the F-86 and Mig-15 that we have now. Hopefully this will change after the 2.5 merge... There's always hope.

This works indeed thanks! And it can be combined with the stop condition in the enroute task.

I'm missing something important in the ME. And I'm a bit surprised that this option is not there, unless I'm missing something... I'd like to be able to force a group of aircraft to RTB when flag X is true (or any other condition to trigger RTB). So for instance you have a SEAD group approaching their target, they fire their ARM's and when the search radar is dead you set a flag to ON. Then there should be an action that would be something like Group RTB and a drop-down to specify which group, IF FLAF X is True. Secondly, the option to restrict usage of gun would be nice. Just to prevent AI to dive in on a target guns ablaze resulting in the AI to be blown to pieces. I'm not a programmer, but RTB exists for out of ammo, then it shoudn't be too far fetched to have an RTB action that is triggered by a certain condition... What I do now is enter a stop condition in the Enroute task. But that doesn't always work very well... Unless someone found a way....

Any news on this? It's been like this for a while now. I don't have the flyable so I hope this will be updated in DCS world as well and not just in flyable plane.
-
I have the impression that AI planes don't detect powerlines. Several times now I see AI planes evading a SAM, going into a dive then very low to ground fly into powerlines and crashing... Maybe it's an old bug...?
