I hadn't visited this forum for a while. Many thanks for this very detailed reply. It answers to my questions and to the frustrations I have but I could not put in words. The gist, I understand, of what you're saying is that the ASP is a total mess and whomever struggles with it isn't an imbecile after all :) For me it's become a marginally better experience using the fixed net with some ww2 kind of intuition than learn its numerous quirks and shortcomings... I do hope that this gets fixed eventually... but in the meantime it'd be great if someone could compile a sort of guide on how the asp should work and share it with the community. Not just for encyclopaedic reasons (for people like me who want to know how things work irl rather than just getting things done in the simulator) but also as document that becomes a point of reference for all the community of what we expect from the developers. Just been checking this in the manual and flight. I do not understand why the option exists... I mean, is there any reason not to use PRED all the time? Sent from my M2012K11AG using Tapatalk

Sure will! What a coincidence; just been listening to Amalia Rodriguez :) (Sorry for the off topic) Sent from my M2012K11AG using Tapatalk

Many thanks everyone for your replies. Just got it and is already downloading. Happy Christmas Sent from my M2012K11AG using Tapatalk

Well, at the moment I wouldn't dive deep into forums to check whether systems of which I know virtually nothing about are working as intended or to the extend they're working atm. Neither do I feel that a two-week trial would allow me to learn the airplane and understand how much of it is complete. It's very good to hear that the bird is getting a lot of love and that all of you recommend it. @WobblyFlopsDo you mean there's something wrong with the flight model atm? Or the curve hasn't been fine-tuned by default? @Tango3BExactly my thought. Grown men still need Christmas presents Thank you all guys

I'm thinking of getting this bird but I'm wondering of its current state. I know it's still early access. Is it any good yet or am I going to be fighting learning of its bugs while trying to learn how to fly it? Sent from my M2012K11AG using Tapatalk

Sorry guys, my bad. My throttle axis-to-button went crazy for some reason after several years and thought it was the update. Should had checked more thoroughly before posting. Sent from my M2012K11AG using Tapatalk

After the latest update I noticed a strange behaviour of the CNM switch. When selecting magic and then neutral it works fine. Yet when selecting the gun and then neutral it doesn't go back to neutral. One has to go from gun to magic and then to neutral for it to work. I presume this is a bug. Ah, French acronym and translation. I initially thought that these were referring to some new systems I hadn't yet the chance to read about. Thanks!
-
Right, thanks! Cannot test at the moment but if they control the four position knob then that's what I'm looking for. Would you know what are all these acronyms following Radar Power? I can only understand CW and CCW.
-
Tried the m2k after a month. I cannot find the all the bindings for the radar switch. Just 'warmup else off' and 'on else standby'. What happened to the individual bindings (OFF - Warmup - Standby - ON)?

Thanks for that SorelRo! As I said it's still early and my comments aren't intended to be a complaint or criticism. I understand that building a campaign must be a huge task! I just saw the briefing files you uploaded. Good work! I'm still having trouble getting anything to happen after I turn towards WP3. Perhaps I'm doing something stupid, I don't know. Would you mind taking a look at the attached tackview file? Tacview-20211022-210142-DCS-Mig-21_01_EN_Voice.zip.acmi

Right, I had not realised I needed to fly it accurately at this point. I just turned back towards Adler beacon since I presumed that I should just get back to the area of the starting airport (Similarly to what I did for reaching the first waypoint, Gudata, following the waypoint's beacon). My main problem is that I do not understand precisely what I am expected to do. For instance, in this case I just mentioned: I am taking a test for scrambling out of the airport and going to reach a desired level at wp1. What happens next? Am I getting a vector for the target or am I just navigating in the area. The way I see it there is a huge difference between the two. If I'm just following waypoints I don't see any reason reaching a point (that's in wp2) some 10 miles off a beacon in a scramble scenario (unless, again, I am told that that's where the bombers are or the nature of the mission is explicitly a navigation test). Furthermore, and for the reason above, I am not sure what my speed is going to have to be after I reach wp1. Am I still in a hurry to catch some imaginary bombers or should I consider that this part of the test is over? In other words should I still be burning all my fuel and stressing my engine for wp1-wp2 or not? After your suggestions, I took a smooth turn on wp1 and reached wp2 where I got the next message for vector and altitude for wp3. Nothing happened after that I'm afraid. Well, for the above, it maybe is just me but I thought that I should share my thoughts with you in case you find something useful while you're still working on it

Thanks SorelRo. You're right, I had not checked the briefing pictures and I apparently misread the briefing about getting to Gudata as fast as possible. Could you bring them to the kneeboard in a future update? I managed to get pass the Gudata trigger. It was what you said about the altimeter. No luck getting any messages after getting to waypoint 2. I understand it's early so I'll be expecting your updates

Very good to know you already know about it! Eagerly waiting for the fixes

Just got to start it today. Got a problem in the first mission. I scramble out of Adler turn right to Gaudata climbing to 10000: "not good enough". I think, I'm might need to do this as fast as possible (should I? It is not clear really...). Emergency AB to ON climb to 10000, I get two messages, one "not good enough", the other "turn left to 290" (left??). Every time I try it afterwards I get both messages and nothing happens after following 290 (back to Adler I guess).

I was first to the party. Arrived before the host it seems

Well, it is out at last Got it tonight and looking forward to it!

I remember that too. And if according to Chuck's guide (p. 91; haven't been able to find this piece of info in the manual) a deviation in runway heading by 15 degrees is fine for Viggen's computer then accurate runway heading shouldn't matter. Couldn't agree more. Best campaign for the Viggen so far.
-
Right! It may be that. Although I recall reading somewhere that an inacurracy of up to 15 degrees shouldn't result in any navigation errors and I'm positive that the navigation error light wasn't on. I'll give this another try. Thanks man!

I was thinking of the runway heading as a possible culprit for messing things up as well. I did input the runway heading too. But wasn't it 0740?

@iFez Actually QFE was the first thing I checked... 991 or something close to that if I recall correctly. I was reading the QFE from the checklist, difficult to have made the same mistake thrice anyway. Then ran through my rocket checklist again, all these things you mention plus following the recommended angle and speed from the manual. Eventually I also tried different setting for radar lock but it didn't make any difference. One odd thing I did notice that I had never seen before was the target circle on the HUD (after ANF selected) sliding towards the right by several kilometres while approaching M3. That's too far to justify as TERNAV updating especially in such a short ride. I'm not sure whether this can be related but I suspect that it may be some sort of bug I have somehow triggered that also affects rocket employment.
-
@iFez Just finished mission 9 a few hours ago. Did you find any difficulty with firing the rockets? Tried it a few times but can't get the range and firing cues working in neither LA nor normal mode... it might be something terribly stupid that I'm doing but tried firing some rockets in a quick mission and cannot reproduce the same problem.

Elevation change warning seems to turn on regardless of altitude source. Impossible to know whether you're going to hit the ground or there's a change in elevation below you. It is unclear as to whether the warning turns on regardless of altitude source. I presume that it should only concern barometric. It appears that it is bugged since the warning light will keep on regardless of any changes I make in barometric pressure and altitude source. It only turns off when I switch the autopilot off. Turning the autopilot back on doesn't seem to trigger the warning light.

Toss bombing in the first mission? You got my attention. Looks very well made. Thank you!
