  1. IBTL?
  2. Just a quick update gentlemen, the sugar spice and all things nice are nearly finished with this mission and I hope to release it properly soon. I may post the latest mission file here before I go to final release and I will post again if this is the case. A list of the additions are: - The starting airbase has been "livened up" with some launch and recovery operations - Russian fighter activity is present - You have F15C escorts - Psebay will now present some heavy AA fire if you stray too close - Extra triggers and communications messages linked to some of the above changes. I have a few other things to do and I think we are good to go. Thanks to all of you that have tried this out thus far. I do have a concern however that I hope someone from the ED team or the closed beta team can answer: I am somewhat worried that updates in the coming days might break mission functionality or the mission file itself may not be readable. Are any of you able to confirm that as being highly likely or at least try to open the mission file in the latest build to see if it opens properly? Of course I realise that any update to any software contains the risk of causing issues with files created in an older version (Silent Hunter anyone? LOL), but I just wondered if someone had a more concrete answer than my assumption :)
  3. Agreed, I learnt alot of DCS: Blackshark while sat on the crapper!
  4. Guys, Firstly thank you for giving this a trial run! I am glad that you at least got some enjoyment out of it even before the "Flavour" has been added to it! cjsoques - Looks like you had a right old time of it by the state of that airframe!!! Thanks for the AAR, nice insight on how someone would approach things! Kuky - Yeah no worries go for it. A second pair of eyes would make a great spotter\designator for the second half of the mission, maybe not enough targets for two.. but that can be arranged :) Tracer2k - Thanks for your feedback! You are quite right it is quite easy and simple, and as observed only the core items and functions for the mission to work are present. Now that you guys have checked over and confirmed that it is working correctly, I can start fleshing out the extras. Such as small frontline skirmishes, aircraft taking off and landing at the airbase. Aircraft keeping vigil over your flight at the target area. The town to the North of the target area will also be beefed up with some optical AA weapons to make things a little more dangerous :) I did look into the option of the player being able to call in the blackhawks, but I dont fully understand how it operates, so I am waiting on a GUI manual to look into it further! Plus I wish I knew how to script LUA, as the scripting function for actions in the editor looks fascinating and being that I can code for ARMA1\2 OFP with ease, if I had a list of commands I think I can spice things up even more!! Cheers again gents input like this is invaluable! I will post the finished article once polished and bow tied! Anyone else planning on giving this a go, please please do, you can never have enough feedback!
  5. Hi all, I have taken the plunge and had a go at bringing together a mission for A10C despite it only being beta at the moment :) This is my first mission for any DCS series simulation. This mission is also very much in a beta state and I want to make sure that it runs properly on other peoples computers and that it at least provides some enjoyment using the A10C! Once I am happy that the core of the mission functions properly and the user can get a win outcome. I will then proceed to add other features such as a small air skrimish between fighters and maybe some other bits and bobs to bring up the flavour aspect of the mission. I would be really grateful if a few of you could give it a run through and provide some feedback on your experience with it and whether it was fun. Crticism is always welcome, provided it is constructive :D The mission is attached to this message. PS allow a good hour or so for this mission, its not a shortie! Cheers The Bear Trap.miz
  6. Dont forget China Hat forward short with TGP as SOI to change FOV which will allow you to zoom in even further when using DMS forward and aft.
  7. Top man! just what the doctor ordered! Rep inbound for this one matey!
  8. I approve of this post. Rep Inbound
  9. I tend to read the manual more fully when I have a paper copy.... When dealing with PDF manuals, I tend to read digest and then go and try. I find reading PDF manuals highly painful. A more in depth reading of the manual will take place when\if ED release a ring bound manual like the one for Black Shark. Until then, phased learning for me :)
  10. I think you have a strong case there for a pre-configured flare program to run as you pass the helicopter, kick it off before you pass him and break hard left or right!! :)
  11. You are quite right, this is a very handy function for setting precise trim from what I have found. However I do still like having the individual trim directions available on the HOTAS so that I can set the larger chunks of trim quickly.
  12. Buying it an trying to fly straight away without reading the manual... now thats dumb :smilewink: Excitment makes people do stupid things!
  13. You are the man mate! Play your first mission and loved it, downloading this one now to have some fun. Will report back :)
  14. From my experience so far make sure that the flight director is off when you engage auto hover, also make sure you are as close to a perfect hover as possible otherwise the auto hover will have trouble correcting itself to keep you steady, and you will find the KA-50 may behave erratically. Personally when flying I have got a habit of using the flight director coupled with trimming to keep a nice smooth flight. Whereas before I was keeping the trim button depressed during manuvers which then made it very difficult to fire weapons on the move. Flight director as far as I can see from reading and playing with it allows you to keep your trim setting whilst giving you the freedom to fly the helicopter without fighting the autopilot. Of course it is prudent to disengage the flight director when going into stable flight or a cruise and let the autopilot channels keep you steady, since of course there are many other things in the cockpit that need fiddling with on the way to the target ;)
  15. In order to fly with some degree of control, when I want to change direction or manuver I have been holding in the trim button, performing flight manuvers (change course, low level obstacle avoidance etc etc) then resettling my course and pitch to a stable position for speed etc. Then releasing the button and letting the stick centre. This has been working a treat. Thanks for starting this discussion I am now better able to understand the trimming mechanism thanks to this.
  16. I will give this a tryout on my QX6700 later and see if it improves things. I will spread it across two cores and then four also to test. I dont have a huge issue with FPS, but just for kicks ;)
  17. I have had this happen to me a couple of times on my X52 Pro. I have the slew controls mapped using the built in profile editor to the throttle hat. I have managed to correct this problem when it happens, by frantically pushing the hat around randomly for a couple of seconds and then letting go. It then stops doing it and I can resume normal operation. I hope this works for others as a workaround.
  18. It is a pain, ive lost all most of the keyboard functions due to having a profile loaded that I created, mostly when using pinkie switch combinations. Then everything that used to do something does something else insted! For example I have Shkval slew mapped to my throttle hat and then the tracking gate size and zoom for the display mapped to the same hat on a pinkie switch! when I got the problem the throttle hat then started changing my artificial horizon alignment insted LOL I think for now it is best to stick to a limited profile of the most used buttons and click the switches that are left in the cockpit, that has worked fine for me so far, unless someone out there manages to create a profile with delays that work etc, so far I have failed :(
  19. haha excellent! did it sting? any ringing in the ears? :D how would one build a cockpit for that effect I wonder? a big boxing glove on pneumatics that punches the user in the face when they get hit lol
  20. Same goes for the buttons and switches... its bad to go clicky clicky in mid flight on buttons your not sure on :D
  21. I nipped into Bobs office at RCSimulations yesterday to pick up my trackClip Pro (Get rid of that sodding hat!!!) as I live not very far away since my hometown is Bristol. And I must say I was very impressed with that motion setup that he has got with the full metal panel cockpit flooring! the triple head setup is just lovely to look at too! I spent a good hour with him talking about black shark and all the gadgets etc that he supplies and works on, such a fascinating man, with an amazing knowledge of flight simming! top bloke! I went in for a TrackClip and came out with a set of Saitek Rudder Pedals too, which I think is brilliant as ive never had a set before! :)
  22. On second thoughts and reading the replies, I think an apology is owed. Sorry gents :) (thats me apologising, not being sarcastic!!!!!)
