  1. The problem with pilot accounts is that memories change and are lost or become inaccurate over a period of time. And like someone telling a how big fish story, they tend to embellish the facts, which is just human nature found in us all...just look at Brian Williams
  2. Ha ha good one!...I did not mean to offend you I was only trying to be funny.
  3. This is why the saying "a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing"..came to be :P
  4. Interesting! thanks for the post, a lot of it makes good sense :D
  5. Still I think practicing landings on arbitrary field's is important training for the later use of in game play once we get a map. A designated grass field may not be close enough to you, when/if you find yourself in trouble. Just like in real life these arbitrary fields may be your only real option. Especially if forced to land on one in game and you are able to walk away from it(the wreck):P and, without being charged as a death, or as a prisoner of war if you choose the spot well...a lot of the fields in game can be landed on and then take off again with some practice
  6. Wow wet grass add 60% to distance, amazing!...thanks for the links
  7. Really just the same as if it were a runway...these field landings are overly difficult/hard in my opinion, you have to be nearly perfect in your execution of. Wether it is the aircraft's suspension or something else that is to blame(I'm not sure what it is) hopefully it will be looked at, and corrected while it is still in beta. :helpsmilie:
  8. yes I agree that they look so much cooler there is not a problem with that for the take-off's...sometimes a good bump will screw things up
  9. what's really nice about the grass, is not having to worry about going in a straight line, like we do with the concrete
  10. someone in the know said to me that these great sounds are not possible with the World sound engine, but may be in the World 2.0, we will have to wait and see
  11. Yeah does take some training, try practicing on this very same field for now. Once landed, taxi back to the houses then turn around and takeoff into the wind. This field is about 3.4k short of the runway in the World open beta, instant action menu, final approach mission
  12. OK thanks for that info...I have very limited MP experience, and should have looked at the map. I never did takeoff because I don't think anyone else was on at that time.
  13. I have been taking off and landing on the grass, it just takes a little more concentration, anyway I know for myself that is the case. Also some fields are better than others for doing this. Here's one thats not very pretty to look at :P
  14. I was just on the DOW server and the engine of my 109 started up just fine. The frame rates seemed ok but it might be because no one else was on (not sure). I think the briefing could be better by provideing some more detail, info such as alt. and the heading to steer
  15. DCS releasing a WW II map should be at the very top of the to do list, even before any other aircraft ...that map will have held the interest level high for peoples I think that once the WW II map is released you will see servers with engine running/take off from runway available...I would think :D
  16. yes I agree, your way would be the more enjoyable and fastest way to learn the ropes of MP
  17. yes some good hits there David!..
  18. I have yet to break a wing :P
  19. excellent find Sporg!..
  20. yeah to have AI bomber formation would help the on-line draw, at least for me it would
  21. I'm waiting to try the WW II map first, before I fly on-line or even buy new aircraft
  22. I usually don't touch the trim much as-well, even for my landings I do not bother to
  23. I think a wording or a translation error in the description for landing My take is to leave the gear retracted even during the long downwind leg, hold off to lower the gear it seems to me...
  24. Thanks mugen for taking the time to translate and post that, it is very interesting. I like the part about comparing to a Formula car and the 6 seconds till airborne
  25. its fine the way it is now :P Muah ha Ha HA!!!
