  1. Also interested in the best settings for a Pro because sim I'm about to buy one soon. I find it weird that DLAA is worse. People are saying DLAA alone provides a better image and no shimmering in the distance. I suppose you should not use DLSS and DLAA here and also any DLAA most likely overrides msaa?
  2. That sounds pretty unlucky. I suppose he's lucky they were able replace it for him before the refund policy ran out.
  3. I have a 6e router coming today which I will hook up to my orbi mesh system as a dedicated router for a quest. Don't have a pro or quest 3 yet but I'll probably get a Pro soon. I'll be curious to see how well DCS does wireless with its own 6hz channel, at least until I get one of those third party link cables that can keep it charged.
  4. Probably can use the same settings mentioned in this thread. /topic/319938-meta-quest-pro-settings/
  5. Right on cue again lol
  6. 3070 is limited on Vram bandwidth so I dont think you will be able to crank up the resolution. You may be fine as long as you don't set the textures to high and use ASW. Maybe get 45-60fps if you can tune your PC properly. For high resolution headsets the 3070 isn't recommended unfortunately.
  7. There's a pilot on YouTube that did a very good comparison between the aero, and the quest pro. Videos are in Spanish with English subtitles. He had a lot of good points about the Pro. He posted he's going to do a comparison between the the 3, pro and aero soon. https://youtube.com/@IsmaelJordaphoto?si=NpINlnB5Q_z0UQP7 In one of the comments on a picture he posted, he summarizes some thoughts saying if you already have a pro, no need to get the 3. If you have money to get the pro get it and if you only have enough money to get the quest 3 go with that because both of them configured properly will look better than the G2. What I'm gathering is local dimming, colors, and contrast make a big difference between the quest 3 and quest pro. These and the eye tracking allowing use of DFR make the Pro a better PCVR headset out of the two. If you are not going to use it for PCVR then the Quest 3 is what you should get as it has a newer chip better suited for standalone and MR if you are into that and you mainly play other VR titles.
  8. Virtual desktop has to use steamvr as the openxr intermediary. Their emulation for oculus runtime doesnt handle openxr. The oculus actual runtime support openxr fine.
  9. It may be but i would rather not have to buy base stations now and then rearrange stuff in my room to set them optimally right now. Once more details on the somnium VR1 are out if that ends up being very good I'll probably reconsider the base stations route.
  10. Awesome, thank you for the comparison! I think I'm comfortable enough to find a Pro now. I was debating for a while if I just want to go with a quest 3 but since I mainly use PCVR and DCS, this will do until somnium VR1 is out or some dedicated PCVR headset gets the correct combination without needing base stations. Would you say a wifi6e router is needed? I have an orbi RBR50 and RBS50 which have been perfect for my house with complete uninterrupted coverage. It has 2.4 and 5ghz bands and automatically will connect devices depending on their compatibility. I really don't want to go back to non mesh router system as they always had bad coverage in different rooms no matter which ones I tired.
  11. Yea link cable is best and if you want to max out the resolution of the quest 3 in oculus app as well as apply super sampling over a certain amount in the oculus debug tool, I think a 4090 is definitely for this.
  12. AV1 is only dependent on your gpu. Any 40 series Nvidia card will be able to take advantage of AV1. You do not need to necessarily be wireless and no the VD does not replace oculus app.
  13. What's the difference between the QC protocol version and the PD version of that cable?
  14. For virtual desktop you need to pay for it and download the client on the oculus as well as a the PC client to stream your games. https://www.vrdesktop.net/
  15. You should be able to if you use virtual desktop. At least that's how one guy on YouTube did it. He didn't mention if he needed a wifi 6e router or not.
  16. Yea for DCS specifically the Pro is the way to go but unfortunately it will not age well when all the latest updates will go to the quest 3. I think I'll try and get one used for a reduced price if that is what I decide. I'm waiting on one more guy to do a specific DCS comparison between the Q3 and quest pro and once he has that on YouTube I should have a better understanding of what I want to do.
  17. Yea I think most of his reviews are all based on hype too if you check his other headset reviews. There's no difference in the 128gb version vs 512gb version in terms of Mura or screen door or visuals..not sure what he's talking about there.
  18. I've heard people that have the Crystal used HonsVR for prescription lenses. I am in the same boat, signed up for the all in one VR1 but not a fan of having to set up base stations.
  19. Thanks. I've got a 4090 and 13900k so I'm not low on GPU power but as long as the quest 3 can run DCS at smooth frame rate, and it sounds like 72hz would help here, then really DFR isn't needed. Of course the nicer colors of the pro would be a benefit here but since I have not experienced what they look like at all, I guess I wouldn't know any better. Do the colors seem at least more flavored compared to a G2?
  20. Apparently for DCS the colors and local dimming matters a lot, specifically for night flights. My main usage would be dcs and second usage would be regular VR games. DFR is being preached around as if it's absolutely necessary for DCS so it's pretty important it seems. Still I'd rather have the better resolution of the Q3 but maybe the colors and dimming of the pro might feel like it's better.
  21. I'm still leaning towards a quest pro coming from the G2. They have a crystal here in the states on Amazon but I don't trust I won't have any issues after the 30 days return policy. I definitely don't have the time to deal with their support over there. There are only 4 support folks in pimax currently according to their discord channel.
  22. Since you have a 4090 do we know if it was using av1 encoding by default? It should otherwise you would have seen some really compressed images. Since it was over airlink too.
  23. This article says it does state 72hz. https://venturebeat.com/metaverse/hands-on-with-the-500-meta-quest-3-vr-headset/ Also if you plan on using it for DCS the 512gb should not matter. But if you actually plan on installing many titles for standalone then yea it will.
  24. That sounds decent, almost like the G2 resolution all over which is basically what I wanted. Were you using the link cable? I'm hoping someone can compare it to the quest pro. If it can stay locked at 72hz all the time the only difference might just be the colors and the FOV which is a bit bigger on the 3.
  25. Already signed up. There's no obligation to get one. Despite me not having the proper set up for base stations I'll decide if I will get one when more info on price and other details are revealed.
