  1. Hmm... it definitely, definitely was. Because I bought it as soon as it was released (been craving an Apache campaign) and checking the mission number is one of the first things I do. But hey ho - there we go.
  2. I don't mean to sound rude - but it is written clearly on the product page. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/shop/campaigns/mad_ah-64d_campaign/
  3. It would still provide a place for people to talk about ideas, suggestions and such - sometimes some of the best ideas come from the community. The devs might find it a useful resource, even at this early stage of development.
  4. The Newsletters this year have been a little underwhelming... I know I'm going to get eaten alive by some people on here for saying that. But I'm sure it's not just me. I was really hoping for some more insight into what's going on behind the scenes - I don't think we need anything like the structure mentioned above. No dates, plans or anything like that. I don't think we need 'videos' or 'dev diaries' like other games companies do. Just a little more insight into the process every few months, or even every 6 months. It might even help with some of the (mostly unfair) criticism ED sometimes gets. Here's hoping the New Year's Newsletter has some good news for us.
  5. I thought you could do that! But I couldn't remember which number it was. Thanks!
  6. This is a bit weird - maybe nothing to do with the campaign, but I've never encountered it before. Although it might have happened on the first two missions also, because the datalink was being weird there too. I use the Tacan to locate my wingman on 15X, but I suddenly discovered that if I turn off the TCN, all my contacts disappear on the SA page and reappear when I turn it back on again. However, if I turn off the DL - nothing. The contacts stay on the SA page. It's weird... it's as if the TCN has absorbed the DL's functions.
  7. I had a similar issue just playing through this now. What I do is create a waypoint at startup as the Bullseye, then when you get the range/bearing, plot a course line through the waypoint and simply fly out along it to the given distance. It's an inelegant solution, but it works.
  8. The 4 (?) missions included with the module serve as a prologue to a larger campaign which Baltic Dragon is making. I have no doubt it'll be great. https://www.baltic-dragon.net/harrier-oc-free
  9. Two of them are on sale as part of a bundle. Right there in the Newsletter, Mike - "The DCS: F-14 Tomcat is now available as part of the Maverick Legacy Bundle. This weekend only, you can land a valuable 35% saving. Please note that this offer ends on the 29th of May at 15:00 GMT. Another “Be the Maverick” bundle is also available and combines DCS: Supercarrier with DCS: F/A-18C Hornet with 30% savings"
  10. - Flares act like the Explosive Reactive Armour on a tank and create an impenetrable shield wall to all missiles (IR-guided or not!)
  11. I can't imagine it's a factor at all. If the whole thing is getting an overhaul (and given then timescale of the project, it seems likely), then you've got to imagine very little, if any, of the original voice recordings will make the cut. I'd rather they re-record it all in a more accurate and natural way, and with a variety of voices. Naturally, Wags should also be one of the primary voice actors! Maybe Wags could even do a variety of accents? Scottish Wags. French Wags. German Wags. All sound wonderful in my head
  12. But, but, but... people play it all year..? It's not dependant on the weather And yes, there have been lots of map suggestions, of essentially every part of this little blue dot, which is why I'm not sure what this thread adds which is new to the discussion? Your post seemed like a "ED, please tell us what the next map!" request - and you should be here long enough to know that isn't going to work. Mike... practically everything would be popular - ED could make an Antarctica map and quite a few of us would undoubtedly buy it. Things being popular is not some kind of magic wand for creating new terrains.
  13. And yet here we seem to have ended up with another map wishlist thread... But honestly Mike, why do you think ED are going to suddenly announce their plans in some random thread? You really just need to be patient and accept that ED will announce future plans when they are ready, and not when asked about it. Which is the sensible and organised way to do things.
  14. You're absolutely right - hopefully they're developing the tech in such a way that it can be implemented into the AI more wiely. AI air-to-air and air-to-ground spotting based on the criteria outlined in the newsletter would truly make it 'game-changing'.
  15. The news on George/Petrovich target ID is fantastic, especially that it's more in depth than merely instant identification Does this line "the presence of the vehicles in a coalition" mean that if there are also, for example, T-72s in your coalition and also the enemy coalition then it will take longer to ID them? Sounds awesome if so!
  16. You know Razbam isn't making the F-4... right?
  17. What does "reverse engineering" mean in this context? Did Heatblur/True Grit steal one from the Luftwaffe and break it apart for analysis?
  18. I've lost count of how many threads there are asking about this. Don't take this personally or anything, but there have genuinely been quite a few over the last few months, and they contain all the answers you need. Just to get it out of the way, though... - At present, no, he doesn't scan independently. But it is planned (and Petrovich will also receive this upgrade). No details on how it will be implemented, or if we will be able to fine-tune his scanning, just 'it's planned'. - The interior animations will also come later. Edit: The main thread about this is literally seven threads below this, here:
  19. I can't see us getting a direct answer on this - despite how important it is. I think the damage thing... well, I hope that will be dealt with when their new damage modelling system is transferred to the modern aircraft. But the AI accuracy, I mean it's being brought up all the time. I have to assume that the guys at ED play the same sim as the rest of us and are therefore equally aware of its limitations. I've been finding it much more noticeable with the time spent in the Apache this year. As you say, it's hard to explain BMP-1s, let alone -2s or -3s, having that sort of accuracy. I personally despise ZU-23's more than almost anything in DCS. They're notorious inaccurate in reality - but essentially a precision weapon here. I've said it before, and I'll say it yet again - these kinds of things need to be worked out before the dynamic campaign is released. Or it's just going to be a fancy version of the Liberation mod; ie: fun for a while, but increasingly frustrating to try and get the AI to do what you want it to do.

    ATT Hold

Yes, I find that if I can get to below 4kts and well trimmed out, then engage it - it will hold an almost exact hover. Even more than that, I can increase and decrease collective and adjust altitude and barely need to touch the controls. Even the pedals! So when we get full functionality along with altitude hold, etc, it's going to make things much easier indeed.
  21. I've originally tried with Casmo's advice on how to do a return to target maneuver with the Hind - and in the Hind it works perfectly. He says not to touch the collective at all while doing it, and no problem. And yet doing the same procedure in the AH-64, it just tries to kill me on the way down. So I'll try your technique. I'm surprised nobody has made a video demonstrating these things yet. Barrel rolls may be 'cosmetic', but return to target would be genuinely useful.
  22. It could be a LOS issue, but we would need a screenshot or track file to judge. Tonight I had him lock a target that was just the other side of a mountain peak - I don't know why he even locked the target, but he wouldn't fire the missile because he couldn't see him - despite saying "engaging". Did you have the VID page up so you could see whether he actually had LOS? George is definitely finicky, but he does usually have some reason for not firing.
  23. I'll have to try this next time. I ended up uninstalling the Marianas and half a dozen modules when the AH-64 came out because I couldn't update (despite having something like 80gb free!). So frustrating.
