Title says it all. I go to load a custom control profile, that I have done for my A10. But it will not load. Eg, I start the sim, go into controls, click in the fields, go to load my custom profile, .lua and ....nothing. Windows can see all my controllers, etc. But FC2 seems to be loading the defaults and staying there. I cannot set the controls every time I start the game, that is not a goer. Any pointers?

Thanks EvilBivol. Seems to be working quite OK now. Just a little getting used to from FC1. A big plus is the DCS gui for setup. Very nice.

What values are you guys typically using for your axis set up for curves etc. I set both my pitch and roll for around +5, with a tad of deadzone to take care of any spiking?

Pursuant to previous posts. Have done some fiddling with deadzones etc. Pretty sure its not my controller. Eg, I bank in the f15, trying to hold a constant bank angle. Finding I have put in opposite aileron to maintain that angle. Also finding the nose starting to lift. Hmmm.

Ensured simulation mode. Maybe its just me, but I get the feeling that I seem to be rolling without input. I have to check roll with input, opposite aileron. Seems stability is a bit off. Something to do with trim, do the US birds have trim? Anyone else? Perhaps I could do a trk and get an FM guru to have a look?

Just got FC2 and tried the f15 first thing. Finding the f15 quite different to FC1. It felt heavier, if thats the word in FC1. Now, I might need some help setting up my CH joystick controller. But, it seems to me the f15 is now very sensitive, oscillates. The FM in general reminds me of Falcon 4 now. More of an on rails kind of feel. Which may be quite realistic, I have no way of knowing. I have not tried any other a/c in this sim yet. Anyone here like to chime in. That said, good upgrade, checked my records, spent money on FC1 way back in 2005. What the heck. Gaming goodness for 30 bucks every 5 years. Your thoughts on the FMs in general would be appreciated as well as setting up, dead zones and the like.

Once I got Trim and the AP sorted, the rest started to flow. That said, ABRIS and the PVI 800 need demystifying. As for all those other switchs... Yeah, I know, just press 1 on the PVI and it will do the rest-but still.....

Dunno if it was completely idiotic, but tried to land on what looks like a "workers" apartment block from the Brezhnev era. (just to test my hover, landing skills) Touch down on the roof and phhht, the apartment block just crumbles beneath me. So much for workmanship, they probably put straw in the concrete, capped hollow piers.

I reactivated my FC installation this morning which I purchased in 2005. I had lost the serial number, ED came to the party asap. Very good.

Gotta give it to ED. Today I was able to land within +-5 metres on a FARP pad. Yeah git some. Punch the air. Sweat inducing with lots of small input into the collective and cyclic. And after kicking but with canon, rockets and Vickhr. Still am not aufait with ABRIS, NAV etc. My auto hover sucks. But getting there.

How did you do that? I have an old X45 I would love to use along side my CH joystick (BTW they are robust good joysticks, if you can stump up the cash).

I have the devils job in using the auto hover feature, transitioning to. In the manual it states Trouble is, I cannot locate the NEUTRAL position of this switch. Its either on Route OR Descent. Correct me if I am wrong.

I am finding my Track IR works well in dot mode. When in 6DOF it goes erratic. Any pointers on this?

Perhaps the designers of the KA 50 envisaged it only being used immediately adjacent to friendlies? Other types for more sophisticated missions?

Interesting discussion. One of the first things I looked for in BS was the beloved SPO. As far as I know the laser warning receiver is the closest thing. Is there a performance hit with IR exhaust suppressors? Maybe some kind of doctrine thing? Its these differences that make the LOMAC/Blackshark series so interesting. A peek into a different way of doing things.

Oops-I have been referring to the hud when trying to transition from flight to hover. Guess I need to print out the relevant portions of the manual.

Interesting thread. Was this game written from the ground up to be multi-threaded? I cant think of too many applications out there that have been, maybe Photoshop. Games? Was FSX? 64 bit gives you the ability to address more ram. How many apps take real advantage of this? I am a skeptic with so many cores this, so much ram that. Marketing by the major players. I do not doubt that there are benefits in terms of stability with multi core cpu, smoothness with 4 gig plus ram. In terms of price and performance however, I believe it is another story.

If its any help, I had to remap the Shkval from a hat on my CH joystick to a switch on the joystick and it worked fine. Perhaps there is some conflict going on here.

Covered in the manual which has just come out in English. Trim is going to have to be a reflex action to fly this ac properly. Trim often.

If you want to extract portions of your PDF and save them as a separate file, either for ease of viewing or printing, whatever then there is a nice little freeware utility called Primo PDF-just google it. Breaks the manual down for ease of handling.

Great. A lot easier than the hoops that we had to jump through before. ED has a demand for its product and has come to the party.

How are the DCS folks taking payment for it?

I live in Sydney and purchased the Russian ver from 1c website. PITA but worth it, paypal>FOREXsite>Webmoney>1C, download. Follow the guides to the letter. Havent peeked at the DCS site. Hopefully, they will make it easier for you.

Transitioning to the Hover is one area I am having a great deal of difficulty with. I normally aim for under 10 kph, alt constant, with autopilot on, hdg hold, pitch, bank on. Alt at least 100 m, 0 sink rate. The symbology appears. Yet I constantly drift away, gather, lose speed. No probs with maintaining alt with the collective. Any pointers.. Thanks
