  1. Yes. If I shift too far to the right in my seat, keeping head straight forward, no side to side looking, the HUD symbology goes off the left of the HUD and visa versa if I shift too far left in my seat. The cockpit and the HUD glass do not move, only the lettering inside on the HUD display. That is just VR perspective I believe. I don't think there is anything wrong, that's just the nature of VR. I did not notice that behavior with the HMD. May have to check that again. HMD seemed, best I can recall, to stay put, like the cockpit, unless you move your head. But in every case, it was centered, not off to one side, when I had my head looking straight forward, and was centered in my seat so that the HUD symbology in the glass was centered.
  2. I have HTC Vive. WITHOUT HMD on, and my VR centered, if I shuffle in my seat slightly to the left or to the right the HUD moves left or right in my sight picture. So for proper HUD alignment, I must have my sensor box positioned as nearly in alignment with how I sit, my face aligned in the direction I normally look, then re-center VR world. Once that is done, I may have to shift left or right in my seat to get proper HUD alignment. Then HMD comes on. Looking straight ahead, as the crosshair "+" lifts just above the top of the HUD the HMD pops up. It is perfectly centered. You "may" have some alignment issues before you check the HMD. Re-cap: I would reboot the computer. Repair DCS. Make sure update is in order. Align sensor. Recenter DCS in VR. Shift for proper HUD alignment. Then re-check HMD alignment. The shifting of the headset on your face will not realign anything. The sensor shifts to recenter what you had, and you are left with just an uncomfortable feeling on your face. Hope it helps. More Wags improvements on the HMD are coming.
  3. Sorry, in my VR it is totally blue, but then I might be color blind and was unaware. But just to be clear, the position light should be green.
  4. Its not your VR. Mine does the same. The right eye is all that is displayed and in VR that is very disconcerting to see out of one eye only - but then again, they do it in real life, so I guess its just something that we'll have to get used to. The brightness does need to be improved, but for your specific needs, have you rebooted your computer. I find that I have to reboot my computer, often before a mission, to be sure it can enter multiplayer without any IP hang ups. Your problems may diminish with a good old fashioned reboot. But that is just a guess. This is my mileage, yours may vary.
  5. Not sure exactly. Total jet time since March 01, 2018 says 709 hours single & multi. Logbook hours total since May 30, 2018 - estimating 450 hours in Hornet.
  6. Thanks DDSSTT Works well in VR for me.
  7. I just tried it a few times and then got the line. Didn't realize it was a bug.
  8. Yes I am relatively new to DCS. Nothing against either the F-18 or the F-14. Both I am sure will be excellent planes - when completed.
  9. OK good. No slow down then on FA-18C development. I love that plane!
  10. Great response and fast too. Thanks guys. The reason for asking is that it seems my squadron has F-14 fever and a lot are dropping the F-18 the moment the F-14 comes out. I personally might try the F-14, but am invested in the F-18 and want it to see it completed. I have been told a lot of aircraft don't get completed, whoever makes them, and thus is the reason for my question.
  11. The FA-18C is about half way to its completion, but still a lot of systems and functionality are missing. Do those of you who have been in DCS for a long time believe, now that the F-14 is on the horizon, that this will distract from the FINISHING of the FA-18C, or at least slow its progress, or am I just paranoid?
  12. They began development on this one in 2012 - so it is a new system, not 4 decades old. But, cancelled it with cost overruns of the F-35s. You don't have to fly up the bad guys tail pipe before you can deploy it and hit something. It has a 60% longer range than the AIM-9X which was needed as the DRFM and AESA jammers can often defeat the onboard radar of the AIM-120. A more stable intensive munitions warhead, making it safer on the deck. It is capable of WVR and BVR Its planned platform is the F-35 but can be easily mounted to the FA-18C giving this bird more A2A options. One of the major reasons for its development is the concern of targeting 5th generation fighters with their ability to easily defeat some existing AMRAMM radar technology.
  13. Please, please can we get control over the brightness/contrast/size/color of the lettering in the AMPCD color DDI display. I cannot read that thin washed out green color when the map is on - which of course, makes the map totally worthless. At this point, I'd settle for a config file that I could edit! If anyone knows how to do this, assistance would be GREATLY appreciated.
  14. Sweet. Did not think to map those. Thanks. ___________________ Update: Just got finished mapping the autopilot functions. No more hands off stick to use the mouse. Thanks again for all your help !
  15. OK I get you are frustrated. I have about the same you do - Ti Vive hot computer setup. First realize the 35 fps is for each eye. That is combined 70 fps. Not bad. The 90 fps min they set is for the average of all persons. There is a new flight sim, right out of the box, I can get 235 fps, but the sim doesn't really do much - yet. It's not "how fast can I make my fps", you should instead ask (yourself), "what is the min acceptable fps to prevent me from motion sickness". I have been just fine at 20 fps (each eye). Most of the time 30 - 35 fps is max I get. They will be coming out with the 2080Ti soon. That should boost video performance by about 40% - but, that will not guarantee you will get above 35 fps in DCS. Al lot of it has to do with how the game is written. X-Plane 11 will bring the most powerful video card(s) to its knees, if you crank up the graphics. 1. Keep the graphics down. 2. Use 150% supersampling in the Steam VR settings box. 3. Use 1.0 in the VR setting in DCS. That gets me about 35 fps without making it a slide show event. Hope this helps. I do agree, the future is bright for VR. Meantime, I'm willing to put up with a few frustrations in order to get the depth perception and ability to look around "IN" your environment. With a flat TV screen and TIR, you are 2 dimensional at best. This is my mileage. As always, yours may vary.
  16. Yes you can map to autopilot - then the autopilot comes up. But you cannot currently map the four functions of the autopilot. That is what I wish we could have.
  17. Those who can, want it harder, forgetting what it was like to learn how to do A2A refueling. Some catch on quickly while others really struggle with this. I hate to say it, but there should be an "easy" setting for those to learn the basics, and a "hard" setting for those who need the challenge. That way all can advance without leaving others out.
  18. Bring back the air launched nuke.
  19. Can we have the ability to map the four (4) autopilot functions to the keyboard, and the ability to map these functions to the HOTAS, not just on/off. 1. ATTH 2. HSEL 3. BALT 4. RALT
  20. Thanks for the quick reply. I should have explained myself. During flight, I find it difficult to take my hand off the joystick, to use the mouse, to click on functions of the autopilot. Plane wanders. By the time you have the autopilot function you wish to use clicked, the plane is no longer in the position you wish for the autopilot to hold. Bad set up. I use voice attack. In the Mirage - I have it set to just say "altitude hold" and on it comes to hold altitude where I want it. I cannot do that in the hornet, or at least don't know how to, because there are no keyboard commands for these functions. I was just wondering if there were functions, I just didn't know where to find them.
  21. Can we bind autopilot functions to the keyboard?
  22. Tune your radio to the carrier frequency. \ F5 F1 F1 is the usual keyboard pattern, (or use voice attack pre programmed to do it for you.) Very important - or you will go crazy - no matter what, even in bad visibility during the day, lights will not come on unless dark outside 7PM - 7AM, is what I believe it is. Lets hope the "on" function will soon be put into the mission editor. Flying a low visibility approach during daylight hours with no landing lights is a real challenge, and not very realistic. This works the same for the field landing lights.
  23. Thanks guys. Makes sense. Only one carrier, only one channel needed.
  24. The video of using the ICLS is great, but specifics are not given. Everyone just seems to "know" that the Stennis carrier ICLS frequency is "channel" 10. Now here's the common sense that is not answered... I flew to Al minhab. Has 2 runways: 27 and 9 BOTH have ILS Runway 9 ILS frequency is 110.700 But the ILS only offers "channels" Where is the cross referencing between all the ILS frequencies already out there and the ICLS system just implemented with channel entry only? What am I missing? Thanks in advance for any help that is offered.
  25. After all the discussion, I am more confused as ever as to what the DCS FA-18C is capeable of in instrument landing conditions.
