CheeseCake I will watch the video when I return from work. Thanks to everyone for this great info!

So does Sensor Depress interrogate only what's locked on the radar page...STT or does it do all aircraft on the radar page as I see multi targets identified on the SA page that were not STT. What are the 2 vertical lines for on the middle of the SA page for?
-
I've read many times on the forum Mode 4 has to be on in order to get proper SA page info. I do notice in auto start the Mode 4 and Crypto is enabled. What then does Sensor Depress actually do if Mode 4 is not active yet? What exactly what do you do to make the most of the SA page?
-
Where is the switch usually set under Mode 4 to be able to get aircraft info on the SA page? What do the other switch positions under Mode 4 do? Also there is Crypto and Master Mode with its switch positions, is there info as to what they are for? Thank you.

I have an X-56.

This is the key mapping for idle, I'm not referring to afterburner detent. "9" Throttle (Left) - OFF/IDLE Throttle Quadrant "0" Throttle (Right) - OFF/IDLE

The 2 position SLD I use for speed brake with the help of an advanced command. You can make them into bands as well...

When I edit a title in a post, the edit only appears in the actual thread I'm creating not the original post. How do I change the title in the original post? Thank you.

I'm looking to make use of the 4 Throttle Rotaries...presumably for axis commands. Any suggestions? edit: I should add I'm referring to the X-56 Thank you.

Thanks for that info, I was concerned when having the need for quick throttle movements it would present a problem but fortunately the engine spool time is about the same as the throttle movement. Yes it does loosen but doesn't stay loose for long if not constantly moved.
-
Do you think the thick grease used on the throttle would help. I find the throttle is really smooth but needs constant movement to keep it from being too slow.

Are you saying that using dual throttles means you don't need to press 0 or 9, the throttle will do it for you? I thought 0 9 was for single throttle. I tried moving each throttle but nothing.
-
This is what I'm referring to, 0 & 9. "RAlt - Home" Throttle (Left) - IDLE Throttle Quadrant "RAlt - End" Throttle (Left) - OFF Throttle Quadrant "9" Throttle (Left) - OFF/IDLE Throttle Quadrant "RShift - Home" Throttle (Right) - IDLE Throttle Quadrant "RShift - End" Throttle (Right) - OFF Throttle Quadrant "0" Throttle (Right) - OFF/IDLE

With dual throttles, do you still need to map the lift buttons to operate the throttle lifts? I thought moving each throttle forward a bit would cause the lift to raise. Thank you.

I just have a few millimetres of looseness, barely noticeable but if you find a fix please post back. It's really a great HOTAS!

dual throttle controls...to lock or unlock?
fitness88 replied to fitness88's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I know you're supposed to lock single engine and keep dual engine unlocked, what my post was about was why some do and some don't. I've learned a few things with this post. I was curious about what dburne was referring to when he wrote about using an extra axis. You mentioned something interesting about the fact that some planes may have an imbalance in engine thrust that a functioning dual throttle would allow you to compensate for. Also I will see if it helps with crabbing in crosswind landing as already mentioned here. -
Thanks for the reply. I was referring more to loosening it only...it sure doesn't need any tightening.

dual throttle controls...to lock or unlock?

I'm assuming you lock throttles and use mapping to single thrust leaving 1 lever available? Can you please give an example of what you do. -
What is the difference between using a hotkey command as opposed to using ctrl or shift or alt as a modifier? Thank you. Windows keys and hotkey commands Right clicking on the cell also allows you to insert Windows keys or keyboard multimedia hotkeys. To add these type of commands, click a cell to add a keypress, then click the right mouse button to bring up the menu. If you select Hotkey, a new window opens with a selection of hotkey commands. Choose the command you want to assign to this button and click OK.

"it never occurred to me that such a thing doesn't exist on real throttles." Are you referring to throttle lock? -
dual throttle controls...to lock or unlock?

Thanks all for your input. When I had a single throttle HOTAS I always used a shortcut key to independently move right and left throttles to idle for the start-up, I didn't realize that with a dual throttle HOTAS you don't need shortcut keys to do that. I've tried both ways, still find it a bit easier with them locked when flying. I didn't know to use them independently to adjust for cross wind landings, I thought crabbing was just flying the plane off center line as much as you needed to compensate. I see the F-18 doesn't have them locked Thanks again!
