  1. +1 I know this is an older thread but I recently got back into flying the F-18 and had a lot of learning to do coming from the F-15 with its simplified FC3 weapon/sensor systems. I too was looking for an AACQ on/off but so far for me as well this is the easiest/fastest way I've found 3 months after this thread was started.
  2. SOLVED: Update: It wasn't my mode switch not working correctly it was my lack of understanding how buttons change commands in ACM or auto acquisition. After much reading about the different layers of sensors/weapons and how they all work together, with trial and error I now have things working properly. Sorry to have put you all through this...thanks for all your efforts at trying to help me.
  3. After lots of reading and getting a better understanding of how a forward press with the SCS when in ACM puts you into Boresight (BST), aft for Vertical (VACQ), and left for Wide Angle (WACQ), this changes what the HOTAS button do and also a little re-mapping helped to clean up duplicate mapped commands. So I would have to say it was my lack of understanding how the different layers of sensors/weapons all work together. Tomorrow I will work some more at getting comfortable with moving SOI around and using the ACM mode with its layers. I was used too used to the F-15's weapon/ACM mode system as presented in FC3. Thanks!
  4. Yes mode is in the correct position to correspond to what I'm mapping. I'm getting things sorted out slowly but surely...thanks.
  5. Great info #21...I'll check out the entire thread later, thanks
  6. I'm in the process of doing that now...will post back, thanks!
  7. Firstly thank you all for the feedback! It seems HSI on the MPCD cannot have SOI. Left DDI can have SOI for HSI / SA / radar. To move from Left to Right DDI for HSI the command is down SCS not right but it is right if the SA or radar page is showing on the right DDI. The SCS direction for SOI movement changes depending on what's showing on the DDI...is this a bug? Also I get myself into more confusion when I accidently enable auto acquisition or ACM but that I'm working on. Thanks again.
  8. Is there a way to move SOI from 1 DDI to another without being in NAV mode only? Thank you.
  9. Thank you, I'll follow-up on your suggestions. Is joystick gremlin unlimited free or shareware?
  10. Let me clarify...I'm referring to the mode dial on the throttle of the X-56. I mistakenly referred to it as the shift state dial which there is none on the X-56 like the X-52 has.
  11. The interesting thing is my throttle works fine on the first mode switch over, it's the joy stick that needs the double back and forth from mode 1 to mode 2. Remember they each have their own USB connection.
  12. All key stroke mapping is done through Logitech software. I don't map using DCS software. Switching shift state does not register as a key stroke on either DCS or Logitech software.
  13. DCS commands not seeing X-56 shift state change unless I turn the shift state dial back and forth twice...then the commands will change to the other shift state. Any idea what's causing this? Thank you.
  14. I'd like to know how to change the monitor mirror to show in proper resolution. It's a bit distorted and cropped not showing the entire image making it difficult for people watching while I'm in VR. Thank you.
  15. Why does the new grey Logitech X-56 mode switch switch from M-1, M2 then S-1...what does S-1 do? I see no difference in its functionality from M-1 or M-2. Also is there any way to tighten the loose center of the joy-stick...it wobbles about 1/2"? Thank you.
  16. Don this is a fountain of great information...excellent read. It made me realize how little I know about what is going on with tracking the Litening Pod. I will be this and the video to better understand what/where I'm looking and better work with the sensors. Thanks again!
  17. I have the zoom mapped to HOTAS as well but don't use it as much as I should. I use SA and the Throttle Designator Controller - Depress, both help but I still have issues with co-ordinating what the SA and the Throttle Designator Controller - Depress show me and what I see on the TPOD.
  18. With the newer version of Oculus Home I don't see Home fade anymore...I just minimize as you say.
  19. I find eyeballing doesn't give me enough visual range using the Rift and then slewing is like seeing through a straw, by then I'm inside minimum range to take the shot.
  20. I was referring specifically to the D/L failure nothing else [rest of the plane in flying condition]...good to know about NineLine's report!
  21. Good info...I understand we don't need it but is that the reason we don't see this option? What if a plane is having electronic failure having this option would be needed.
  22. I noticed the F-18 comm menu has no AWACS 'Declare' option like the F-15 has. What would be the reason? Is there a way to add it...maybe by editing a .lua? Thank you.
  23. I believe there is a setting for screen font in the DCS options.
  24. Thanks for the info Santi871.
