Interesting reading, specially the climb record breaking chapter. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://militaryrussia.ru/forum/download/file.php%3Fid%3D29693&ved=2ahUKEwjCjcPY2a7dAhVqxoUKHbmyATsQFjACegQIABAB&usg=AOvVaw1tD3_4qZR9Ed93w1DRn6E2&cshid=1536522973386

I see good efforts to calculate a simulated parameter by using real world physics. Whatever your conclusion is, it means nothing until ED confirm the same real world physics apply to the Sim. It is easier to Ask ED to confirm the thrust reduction or the simulated thrust curve, than proofing it based on unknown physics.

What new feature of the Hornet are you most looking forward to?
Knives replied to Wags's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
F/A-18 (Fighter / Attacker) currently, the fighter side has more weight than the Attacker side. I vote for: 1- ATFLIR with some Guided Weapons 2- HARM -
If they are started to move, they are probably ready to go. You can check that. And do more: If they started moving and the radio frequency is not set to tower, remind them to get Taxi clearance. If they are near the runway, remind them to get takeoff clearance. Assuming that you know what airport they are at.

I believe you can not. But I'm curious about why you want to?

It was captured using a 360 camera. But the editing made it unique. ENJOY.

Baro altimeter difference between HUD and standby
Knives replied to AMVI_Rider's topic in Bugs and Problems
Exactly what I meant. But I shortened my answer. Atmospheric pressure is not static/fixed, different areas have different pressures. So to enable all aircraft to speak one language, all of them should use the same base for calculating BALT. Higher than transition level, they will use the standard baro, and for lower levels they will use current local area baro setting. -
Baro altimeter difference between HUD and standby
Knives replied to AMVI_Rider's topic in Bugs and Problems
All the numbers on the HUD and the electronic ADI are corrected numbers from ADC. Any failure in ADC, you will get "AIR DATA" caution. And the output will either go blank or begin flashing. And in no way the altitude is 100% correct. For example the Barometric Altitude on the HUD is a corrected Altitude depending on Barometric setting, the measured static pressure and temperature. The standby altitude depends on barometer and corrected only for baro setting. It will be way off at higher altitude and close enough when you are near MSL. This is why in civilian ops, above a certain level they will switch to standard baro setting (29.92 inMg— 1013hPa) so that all aircraft will see the same altitude (even if it is not corrected). -
Baro altimeter difference between HUD and standby

Additionally to what IvanK said, the Hornet has several sensors on its front fuselage and has also an Air Data Computer which process and calculate lots of data and parameters. Samples: The RALT antenna is located at the rear fuselage near the tail. Very important to be near the tail, to measure the ground clearance at high AoA during landing. If your AoB exceeds a certain value you will get a flashing B which means RALT in not valid. Edited for more clear images -
I didn't test it, but HUD Reject may help too. On final just flip the switch. You can map it to your HOTAS.
-
You can lower the brightness of the HUD.

None of the US fighter jets has a reverse thrust I'm aware of.

I have no mods at all. --Rubbish auto correct--

The AI knows a lot of secrets. But really I'm looking forward to be able to push back at least.
-
Me too. Most probably, because of the fix offset setting and the carrier movement. the F10 map has to show the icons for the static planes. But it does not track the carrier to put them on it. So they are centered on the map I guess.
-
Skip to 15:35 I didn't believe that was possible. And how AI is pushing back?

How to set up AI so that it does not fire till after the merge
Knives replied to Bearfoot's topic in Mission Editor
You can set two "Moving Trigger Zone", one attached to the player and the other attached to the AI. When player enters the AI zone Flag(1) is set. When AI enters the player zone Flag(2) is set. Simple condition to check if both flags are set then they are merged. -
You explained very clearly your objectives. But, it is better to have a mission file to look for the problem. Is the "Search then engage in zone" task is referenced in all the waypoints? (with -a at the end). Do you have any tasks with a stop condition?

F/A-18C. Very easy to fly and control. At the current stage, it doesn't have lots of features that overwhelm the mind. So he will be forced to focus on the basics and nothing else. But definitely, if he learn it, he will stay up all night waiting for Wednesdays update to learn / to do / to try new things with it.

For the "Auto Pilot" warning message, is definitely a bug. The "Auto Pilot" warning message means "Uncommanded Auto Pilot Disconnect" it should be cleared after 10sec or by the paddle switch.
-
It is not on the flight manuals. They are in the maintenance manuals and MC manuals.

Agreed 100%. I'm just explaining how it is currently implemented and I'm complaining about too. The spotting system needs to be reworked.
