Wags' Seal of Approval. That's it! I'm ordering one.

Thanks. I've had the Orion throttle base w/ F/A-18 handles for almost a year now and i'm very pleased with it. As i'm starting to learn the F-16 i'm considering getting the F-16 throttle handles. I just hope it doesn't take too much effort/time switching between the two setups.

If i'm not mistaken it uses the exact same Orion throttle base that's used on the F/A-18 throttle and that's also sold separately without grips, so it should still have the built in Idle and AB detents. Unless they removed those on the F-16 one, you would probably be able to use it with detents without the slide rail mounted. I checked the manuals on the winwing site: https://www.wwsimstore.com/static/assets/files/T2-ORION THROTTLE BASE-MANUAL EN V 1.0.pdf https://www.wwsimstore.com/static/assets/files/THROTTLE HANDLE OF F-16 H.O.T.A.S-User MANUAL EN V 1.0.pdf The Orion Throttle Base have detents from (Idle-thrust-AB) 15°-50°-15° = 80°. While the slide rail on the F-16 throttle, which seems to use the Orion Throttle Base, is 18°-44°-18° = 80°. Unless they removed the detents in the Orion base, i would think the rail detents and base detents wouldn't match up? In the F-16 throttle handle manual it also looks like the slide rail is obscuring the two mounting holes on the left side of the base, which could potentially make it harder to mount to a rig. If anyone has mounted the throttle to their deskmounts or rig i would be happy to hear about their experience.

I can see that being a problem in some situations. I was more thinking about the hats and switches on the throttle grips, if it's hard to reach the front switches when in full afterburner, or if it's easy to push a hat-switch in the wrong direction when it's angled like that. I use a slide-throttle (TWCS) currently so i'm used to the straight movement.

I was about to order a Taurus throttle when i saw this. Now i'm a bit unsure what to get. Compared to the Taurus the Orion throttle seems more like a compromise with the shorter radius giving it a more similar arc movement to the Thrustmaster Warthog and Virpil throttles. For those who have the Warthog throttle, is the angle of the movement a problem when using the hats and buttons on the handles? When it's in full afterburner it seems to lean very much forward.

The Founders Edition cards looks to have a good cooling solution. The partner cards seems to be priced higher and none of them seems to be using the reference cooler unlike previous series. I have a hunch the FE cards will be paper launches, and not just the 3090. A way for Nvidia to get the public awareness of quality cards at a specific price, while we might end up having to get more expensive (and potentially inferior)cards from partners due to low/no availability.

Keep in mind the 10900K (or any other available Intel CPU) does not support PCIe 4.0. I'm waiting to see AMD's lineup of GPU's before deciding, but right now i'm thinking about getting the RTX 3080 together with the Reverb G2, hoping that they will be a good match in (single player) DCS.

Purchasing the Persian Gulf Map for MP, who's buying it?

So, all the people with 1080 Ti's are finding it way out of their budget? ;). I'll admit it was a bit more expensive than i thought it would be, but i'll have to wait for reports on the build quality and performance before deciding. I'm looking to upgrade my throttle this year, and if this one is top quality i can stretch my budget a bit.

Hi, it looks like you've put a lot of thought (and money!) into your sim setup. I'm slowly building my own VR cockpit and i'm trying to get an optimal setup in the small space i have available. Till now i've just put the throttle and stick on the desk, but it's not very ergonomic, and now that i've started looking into getting an extension to use it as a center stick i need to find a solution that will work for me. I've been thinking about getting the WSP, but i'm concerned about the height of the middle mounting. I see you've sawed it off to get it as low as possible. If i'm not terribly wrong the warthog with a 15cm extension is 28cm from bottom of the base to the hand rest. A Gunfighter MCG pro is 31,6-34,1cm, so 3,6-6,1cm taller than the warthog. It's probably gonna be hard to mod it to get lower than you have it now (shortening the bottom part would probably require cutting and welding). Looking at cockpit pictures of planes like the F/A-18 and F-15 the sticks seems to be quite high above the seat. Other than that i've been looking to replace my office chair and have had a availability/price watch on pre-owned Steelcase Leap V2 for a long time. It seems like a nice chair, but it's not very common here in Norway, and shipping one from the US will add hundreds of dollars in shipping and also 25% vat on top of it all, making it too expensive to import. Is the chair swivel any problem when using rudders? I'll get some wheel-locks/stops when i get the rudders (which are in the mail right now, i hope :D) I've got a Jetseat KW-908 that i will mod with my own cushion to fit my new chair (when i eventually get one). The Jetseat really doesn't fit my current chair at all, and i've had to drag in a livingroom chair when i'm using it. Also looking forward to upgrade my throttle hopefully within the next 6 months. Both the new Virpil or VKB throttles looks interesting. Next up is getting some suitable decoration i guess :D

I have the Gunfighter Mk.I (regular, not pro) and considering getting the MCG PRO when it's released in europe if i can get hold of the stick extension for it, but they don't list the extension in the european store :(. I understand that the 3-pin connector used in the Gunfighter Mk.I has been replaced with a Rev.B in the new new Mk.II Gunfighter and that VKB are focusing on the new connector from now on. My worries are that by the time the next grip or accessory comes out down the road the old revision 3-pin will be unsupported. Has there been any statement on this? I'm very happy with the Gunfighter base. It's the best gimbal i've tried, and i use it with the Warthog and KG-12 (i would love a metal KG-12!) grips, so i was hoping it would get upgrade support for a few years atleast.

The KW-908 has 8 motors (the model André's SE mod is based on), while the KW-901 has 6.

Received the KW-908 yesterday. Installed the software and tested the motors, everything worked as it should. As my current officechair isn't suited for the jetseat i dragged in the recliner from the living room, strapped on the jetseat and booted up DCS. After about 20 of minutes flying a few different planes with just the keyboard while sitting 2m from the monitor my initial reaction was "so.. i bought a massage mat", not sure what to think about it. Later in the evening i went back, rigged the hotas and put on the rift headset for some BFM. 2 hours later i was somehow not nauseous (which i usually get after an hour of intense maneuvering). I was managing my planes energy much better than before, and got good feedback on increase in AOA. Adding to the immersion was things like a bump on the left/right side when launching from hardpoints, shaking when firing the cannon and feedback from deploying and retracting landing gears. Based on my first few hours i would highly recommend the KW-908, especially for those wanting to take VR flying to the next level without going bankrupt. I hope sometimes in the future it will work with IL2:BoX. :)

Ordered Jetseat from Andre just now. Can't wait to try out in DCS. My Sim setup is starting to take shape and i'm getting into flight sims again for the first time in over 20 years.

From VKB FSC Europe newsletter: "VKB Throttle unit: is in late design / concept phase. It is being finalized and getting prepared for production. Availability of this new product is currently estimated for Q3 2018."

I think he meant the two mini-sticks on the throttle being the same as the top center stick on the MCG. :)

Perhaps having a thicker/more elastic cushion underneath would push the motors downwards and while still damping the weight of the pilot. i can imagine it being rock hard if they are pushed right into a wooden seat. I'm very interested in getting the best simulation of as possible (within a certain budget ofcourse) of flying, and something like the 908 sounds like it's the next logical step for me after i got a Rift. I'm a little sensitive to motion sickness, unfortunately. Of course i always end up doing rolls in Nevada while looking out the window late at night when i'm tired and should be in bed, which always ends with me getting nauseated. Does a feedback device like this help reduce this by tricking the brain?

If i knew about Andre's shop back then i would have ordered from him instead.. in hindsight :music_whistling: For anyone who's tried both the standard 908 and Andre's flight sim edition. Are the motors less padded (more noticable bumps) compared to the standard version? Not having a rubber surface is probably more comfortable when flying in boxer shorts.

I'm curious about the availability of the 908. I ordered it 4 months ago from the russian gametrix shop, but it hasn't shipped yet.

AliExpress charges 76 USD to ship the GF Pro + MCG Pro to Norway with DHL Express, which is almost 40 USD more than you paid. Not sure if there's a visa charge though. 40 USD for money transfer..ouch. Atleast you (probably) don't have to pay Norwegian VAT on that. Also, hello from west-coast of Norway o/
