I don't see much salt in this thread ... mostly statements about what to improve and how. eekz is not responsible for dcs bugs and I believe nobody blames him for them back to topic: had a fun mission yesterday, unfortunately I was alone on the server at 23h utc+1 .. when are you folks online?
-
this could be surpressed by installing flaks around the airfields vulching was a problem in il2 as well, but somehow it worked that it was frowned ... one thing would be SRS .. and only that instead of "here is our discord, here is our ts and here is srs..." but that is only my preference (others might love ts and hate srs instead ... ) ;) about the mission: I think it's fine, maybe the distances could be closer to each other ... attack on bomberformations would also be nice, since bombing with an bf109 isn't that fun (from axis point of view). on the other side it would be nice to have escort missions for the allies (ok the scripting might be bad ... human controlled bombers would be the solution...) yeah not easy ... :)

Its sad .. most ww2 planes I see are on aerobatics. It seems that FC3 planes on free for all servers are more 'fun' than complex combat in properly simulated ww2 planes .... :(
-
Sorry I didn't want to criticize the map or the mission. It was because on my usual flight time there are seldom more than 2 people online (11pm utc+1). Of course on the video there are many more online ... ;) In my point of view the mission itself is great, you are not responsible for the dcs bugs. Maybe you just need to adapt because of the dcs bugs - narrow the distances for example... and SRS would be great (correct me if I'm wrong, I believe it wasn't included in the mission briefing)

is there a time when there are more than 2 people on this server? I think the problem is that one would rather connect to another server where people are on, than connect onto an empty server - which is a problem again ... I don't know if the mission might be an issue, maybe its just because of the ww2 setting, I cannot tell ... I'd love to fly ww2 again ;)

I've built a led headtracker 'clip' and use it with facetracknoir. It works so great that I cannot believe trackir would be better! money invest: facetracknoir (2$ ? ) and the leds ...

Allright, I assume that this new cloud system will arrive 'soon' :D
-
I was flying with friends on a good day with a couple of clouds in the sky. A friend reported that he cannot see me, due to the fact he was flying in clouds. This was true for him, but since I was right behind him, and I was in clear sky (him as well from my point of view), but not true for me. We have seen that clouds are not synchronized in multiplayer, which might be a problem, if you want to run into clouds to hide away - but the bad guy might get you, just because the clouds are not there for him ... Is this a known bug?
-
that was not exactly what I had in mind, but I am afraid you might be right... Nevertheless my system will be set up completely new, it'll show if this persists or vanishes if all is set up clean and tidy :)

I have a special configuration today. In my setup I use 3 monitors, left, main, right. In order to see the instruments / radar export (of the viggen in particular) I want to display this on a small display in front of me. For this I use at the moment a 7" android tabled, using iDisplay. Unfortunately this display is _only_ recognized as portrait in the system - any attemts on changing the orientation failed hard. So I tried to set it up as portrait, which is not quite useful if you want to have it in front of you, beneath the main screen - so landscape it has to be. My exports to this screen worked fine, except the rotation of the radar screen. I tried to use viewRoll = <degree>; but the export picture was always straight up. is there the possibility to change the orientation of the exports ? In particular its about the radar screen of the viggen.... thanks for any help

Great news! A quick check yesterday showed for me that this version was working! good work! Have you been able to check on the am/fm switch for the viggen in the meantime? I have tried to switch, but nothing changed, it stayed on AM... another (maybe good?) suggestions: It would be great if one could set in the settings: - the preferred radio (e.g. radio #2 as default, not #1) - radio overlay on/off by default (or awacs on default on) thanks again, and have a nice weekend!
-
maybe srs would be better :music_whistling:
-
I cannot +1 this statement enough ! ;) absolutely right sir!
-
Hi, thank you, the help is much appreciated ;) attached you will find a screenshot of the cockpit - the arrow points to the mentioned switch. Sorry for the screenshot - i had to find one online since I am at work :music_whistling:

I don't know if I should address this here or for the viggen ... nevermind I'll try it here: It was mentioned before but there was no change- the modulator switch is not working for the viggen. So you are bound to use AM instead of being able to switch to FM. Is this an issue of the viggen not switching the output to SRS or of SRS not reading the input properly?

104th Phoenix - Operation Longbow - Dynamic PvP Mission

not that hard isn't it? If you are able to start / fly a plane, bomb things, land it ... you should be able to install a piece of software :D This was just my input - my 2cents about this very good addon for a great sim ;) Thank you for your time and effort! -

For me it isn't a problem, but I think it is the will of people which is missing to 'install' a tool which has to be startet 'separately from DCS' suggestion as maybe-feature: maybe if SRS could be integrated into dcs as some sort of module (just as tacview) which is started by the dcs process and connects to srs servers automatically (ok connection is done automatically, but its about starting the thing) - this would make it easier to use. Downloading and installing is a step which you cannot take from the people... the other things which are 'talking online to people which you don't know' is another problem which you cannot solve with the software ;) -

The thing is that this is a tool which some people do not understand or are 'afraid' of using, just because its third party and you have to 'configure' it. This keeps a good amount of potential players from using it. If a system is encapsuled inside the sim itself, with the same functionality, then I believe it would be more used, just because no extra application needs to be started. A skin for a plane in your example is easy to understand for everyone. You put the skin in 'that folder' and you are ready to go ... -
That's sad, somehow I believe there should be only one communicative system. Having TS and SRS at the same time would always split up the users. In my opinion I see SRS as the more capable tool for this server - wouldn't it be 'better' to announce it this way on the mission briefing? Somehow the people should get encouraged to use the radio ...

I see it the same way. It is alway a step for people to install some sort of extra software. In my case, I've waited very long until I installed SRS, but it was so easy that the setup and config is not worth to mention ... I would hope that ED would include this functionality. Even if someone is not talking on the radio - he would be listening (hopefully) and hear the people coordinate about bombruns or similar. Another thing may be: many people could be afraid of talking to strangers? -
oh, then this wasn't me ... about srs: haven't heard anybody on the radio. Since frequency for everybody was 251mhz am (blue) I tried to call people, but no response. Did this work for others yesterday?

I don't see why the viggen should be so advanced. Sure it has some weapon systems that came in the 90s, but those are for ground attack. Those 90s upgrades on the Ajs don't give you any advantages in a-a. There is no BvR or similar on this machine. In terms of dogfighting you still have a hard time on any other dedicated fighter on this server settings. Banning planes would make the server surely bleed players...

yeah I assume this some sort of bug - 'z'-priority but still a bug ;) Thanks for the tips I'll give it a try...:music_whistling:

I cannot say that a mig21 would take more missiles than anything else. had downed a couple of migs with one missile only - on the other hand my viggen sometimes was flyable even after getting hit - not good, but i got away :pilotfly: about friendly fire: happened to me twice on this server, oh man gotta get my visuals right:doh:
