thanks alpenwolf, i see the question as a relevant one. and i think the answers of different people were just dumb ... think of buying a car and you ask if it comes with servo motors for steering - and get the answer "everybody knows how to steer the car - use the steering wheel" - whoa buddy, good one  so is there a good answer for that question ?

allright i give up on the f14 on cold war ;) nevertheless i am looking forward for the mig23, and i really hope it will come this year. the problem i see with different maps is that often people don't (want to) buy them. so the caucasus is a good base map for all operations in dcs .. you have nearly every terrain situation there. but for me - i would be glad to see some variation .. as long as every player will have these maps. btw: is there a way to ask the AI awacs for the _closest_ target? since no human gci was online yesterday i was running circles following targets given by awacs, but not finding them ... ending in being shot down (maybe i am blind ...)

i'm not surprised, the server rocks ;) i am afraid this will be very much true .. so maybe if you put it in with limited numbers, just guns and sidewinders, it might populate the server well ... and i don't think the radar will be the gamechanger ...using a qualified gci helps you "nearly as good as a rio" hoping for the mig23 there will be "some sort" of "counterpart" available in the near future ...

patience ... everything comes to the patient ones ;) -
thank you for the tips i'll try to keep them in mind (and practice a bit) !
-
hm too sad since the plane would fit very well into the gulf setting and limiting it to guns and sidewinders would make the rio very obsolete ...
-
for me the nicest and most useful simpit i've seen so far ;) very well thought-through it seems!

hm weird, i am currently on open beta and had the issue. judging from last night's flight: all worked and i could use flares and tank again  about usage of f14 on cold war: i believe this plane would fit the setting, just as the mig23 would, but it might really be overpowered due to its weapons maybe limit the weapons ? if it only has sidewinders and sparrows i don't see a problem ... the main advantage i see is the usage of the f14 in arabic settings on the persian gulf map ... but we'll see when it arrives how it flies and can be used best in MP ;)

in our case (VP) we fly mig21 on "modern" servers or similar servers and spitfire (or p51) on ww2 servers
-
in this case i'd see it as "computer game" resembling a historical correct BF109. i see it the same way, denying our past will not help the future generations, but you have to avoid using nazi symbols as "cool signs" for austria i cannot tell if there will be a difference if you put on a swastica on a wall and call it an inka or aztec symbol ... you will probably be fined or worse here since this symbol is banned here

sorry i don't have a track or data to provide it was an AI Mig21 head on, Range was about 9-10NM (530D fire range), altitude about 4000ft (both planes approximately) my radar cone was right head on him, so he really didn't slip out of it i was in TWS mode i cannot tell if the mig21 is able to use a jammer ... next time i'll use a track i promise ;)
-
it does, if you aren't aware of it, or you are in this situation (no matter the reason) you might be surprised by an dying engine! so the question is not about one self not being able to fly this thing, it is about what to care about by flying this plane
-
as long as it isn't forbidden in your country i see no problem. for me - i wouldn't dare to post some pics with swasticas, since they're forbidden in austria ;)
-
i lost lock in a head on situation. just right in the moment i wanted to fire, the lock was lost, the enemy plane on the other hand was still right in front of me current open beta build

thanks alpenwolf ... and sorry for the issues :noexpression: you're doing a great job!

here we go (no track but screenshots) video was from cold war server, i tried the same on other servers or offline, there it was working i think the mission said it was 'battle for maykop' but i had the same on other missions as well ('five points' and 'ossetia')
-
yesterday i had the issue with the countermeasures and drop tanks the tank may not be the biggest issue, but the countermeasures are ;)

Did a small update of my Button Box: Exchanged the Joystick Board with an arduino, and used the rotational pulse dials just like in the video above. It works much better now, because the analog ones weren't much of use in many modules unfortunately Its pretty easy to do actually :D -

wow, i never knew about this, seems definetely worth looking at -
definetely ... my first 'sim' was early 90s ... my first 'real air combat sim' was janes us navy fighters ... after that IL2 sturmovik and now DCS. True that i learned 'flying' there, but how to operate the birds "correctly" - this i learned only in DCS ... No I i don't want to have new players study 500 pages of manuals, but show them what the sim is able to do. The L39 is the perfect start, you 'can' blow up things, but it is a nice and easy jet to start with. Getting in the air is done in just a handful of buttons, and if you use the arcarde-ish startup then even less. i think the l39 would be a much better representation of the sim itself. if you only judge by the su25 - i wouldn't have been impressed at all ... and the tf-51 module is too hard for newbies as well ...
-
you are right maybe, but it does not mean this cannot be changed. up to a certain point the p51 was only payware. now we have the civil version of this plane included in dcs world as free full fidelity module. why shouldn't it be possible to -at least- include the C version of the L39 in the game? things can change, if all want it to ;)

maybe you need to use some sort of multiplier to work properly. otherwise you cannot use 2 different keyboards on dcs as different devices. (not that i would be aware of ...) -
and exactly this is the reason to use them as free modules in DCS. Otherwise there is little sense in having them (especially for new DCS users, who want to fly the F18 and pew pew pew enemies ...!) and this is very much true in my eyes! for me the appeal in DCS are the full fidelity modules. I tried the free Su25 module ... but i was not happy at all. not because the plane is too slow or whatever. for me there was some sort of invisible wall between the cockpit and me. I couldn't "touch" anything and therefore i fealt a distance. In my eyes the L39 would be the best module to give players for free... good to learn, has weapons, is not too slow ...
