[USER ERROR] Trim getting stuck in nose up position
AcroGimp replied to Rogago's topic in Bugs and Problems
Well, so I, ahh, just, ahh, had a weird issue - flew out to the Stinnis to get a few server traps in, because, well, because - got two or three plus a bolter, did a partial refuel on deck thinking I'd go out and hit the tanker before bringing the Bug back to barn - lowered the launch bar, taxied onto Cat 1, linked into the shuttle, extended the wings, set takeoff trim, smartly saluted the shooter, selected Max A/B and shot off the carrier The jet pulled a crazy half-cobra about 50 yards after I cleared the end of the deck, couple warning horns went off, Master Caution illuminated, and I about shit my self - retracted the gear, pushed HARD forward on the stick and got the nose down, started trying to put in some trim, no response - released a little back pressure and the nose came up wildly but was controllable with lots of forward stick, pulled it back to about 80 % and checked the annunciator panel, no lights there but Master Caution on, Check Trim CAS message on left DDI HUD page - on right DDI FCS page indicated no trim on the elevators (0 deg) but everytime I released the forward pressure the nose came up - I tried resetting the FCS to no avail Figured I'd try the Autopilot, HAL came on and she calmed right down, so I set course for Al Dhafra at Angels 6 and 350 KIAS and started trying to figure out what happened - I realized that I had failed to put any flaps down for the takeoff, tried resetting the FCS again, no joy, hit the Gain Orride switch, and the nose down force required for level flight wasn't as bad but was still present, and HAL disconnected when I did it, so I reset it to Norm, put HAL back on and kept troubleshooting - the elevators were completely non-responsive to trim Arrived at Al Dhafra and figured I made it that far so I'd shoot for a landing Set up for an extended downwind, turned inbound and could not get it to slow down much below 200 with full flaps in and it took a lot of nose down stick, could not get it down for the landing, called a go around Next attempt I extended even further to the East, configured early and flew the AOA indexer as best I could, was able to get it down to about 185 KIAS with just a little forward stick travel remaining, slowly worked my way down and landed, touched down at around 175 and just made the mid-field turn off on 31L - YES, you read that right, it was showing on speed AOA at 180-190 KIAS After shutdown I checked the FCS page and it showed 5 deg nose up on the elevators and would not respond to trim inputs, reset the FCS, tried setting T/O trim, even ran FCS BIT, no joy TL/DR - I broke the jet somehow, not sure what I did, but I did make it back :nerd: I was drenched in sweat by the time I landed, full-on immersive man - after my recent real-life emergency with my Yak this was a little easier since I could always take the Rift off and just walk away but I was committed to seeing it through and I did manage to bring the jet back but it was pretty damn touch-and-go for a while - while not as jacked up on adrenaline as I was after the prop seal failure and massive oil leak in the Yak, I was definitely amped up, only starting to come back down now 30 minutes later... Put HUD or any other page in the AMPCD and set HSI to left DDI, but I think you can just turn map off and get the standard HSI as well - definitely not as well rendered as the moving map in Harrier, at least not yet. DISCO

Interesting, 7-Zip did it. 9-Zip and 10-Zip would not. Thanks for this, looks good. 'Gimp (DISCO - vVMA-231)

Still unable to extract this. Not sure what issue is. 'Gimp (DISCO - vVMA-231)

Working with a squadron mate to train Parade (close) formation - Running and Circling Rendezvous, welded wing (IFR) turns, breakups and rejoins, he did real well. DISCO

I just realized that I need to update the graphic in the PDF, I've made some changes for improved funationality. I did have to use a modifier key (one of the buttons on the stick), the LUA's have my current config. 'Gimp (DISCO vVMA-231)

As promised, the files for my Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS HOTAS and Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals setup along with a graphic for the HOTAS. Hope it helps. Lt. Yama, I use the T.16000M HOTAS and can share my profile with you tomorrow. I am on a plane right now and won't be home until late tonight. I had to get a little creative in order to capture most of the needed HOTAS functions but it seems to work pretty well for me - once I share use as you see fit. 'Gimp (DISCO vVMA-231)

As the OP and coming back to this - I was not complaining and as a long time Star Citizen backer am totally used to the 'Beta' or Early Access state, I was only asking if there was a development roadmap. I also am aware that there are different companies invovled between Hornet and Harrier and I am also aware that the guys who do the 3D modeling are, typically, not the same guys who code moving maps for example. I can understand being hesitant to do so if the Mirage was an issue, that was before I found DCS so not something I am really aware of but I can understand that as a reason to not want to make even a notional roadmap public. It was intended as a simple question and the answer appears to be that the development plan for Harrier is not shared with the public, which is fine, was really only asking if there was one thinking I might have missed it being I only came to DCS a couple months ago. Thanks but I had seen those, was more interested in a notional roadmap/schedule - if the Harrier remains in its' current state and the Hornet drops with more EA functionality as it appears from the livestream I am concerned the Harrier will just not get used or finished - and I really like it so just want to see RAZBAM be successful with it. Is there a roadmap or schedule for completion of the AV-8B that lets us know when the currently incomplete features are expected? WAGS' F/A-18C livestream showed the Hornet already appears to have more Nav functionality than we enjoy, just wondering if there is a spot where we get a sense of what is coming and when? Totally agree with this ^^^. I started with DCS about 2 months ago with the excellent Belsimtek F-5E (which I really enjoy) and then moved into a few user Mods before grabbing the Harrier, and even in it's early access state just really, really enjoy flying it. It's challenging to fly well but has a great amount of capability, can get out to the AO from the boat, FARP or airfield at a decent clip, carries a real good load for such a small jet, has good sensors that will be great as the module matures, and the V/TOL aspect adds a whole other dimension, especially at the boat. RAZBAM has done a good job with as far as I can tell, I look forward to growing with it as they add more and more capability as time goes on. 'Gimp (DISCO at vVMA-231)

With deferred shading off the AV-8B NA is awesome at night, with/without cloud cover or moonlight - with DS on it is another story, hard to get it started let alone employ it, even though NVG's are far more realistic with DS on than off. Love this thing. 'Gimp (DISCO)

LHA Amphibious Assault Package
AcroGimp replied to uscstaylor's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
Some night time shenanigans, lighting is a touch brite but much improved over base Tarawa - and I had DS off so might be less brite with DS on. Great work guys! 'Gimp (DISCO) -

LHA's and LCAC's and Harriers, oh my!! Give us the Huey and a flyable Cobra or -53 and MAGTF here we come!!! Awesome work guys. 'Gimp (DISCO) -
So summarizing, Warm-up (cool) the Maverick's Set Maverick's active on SMS page Left MPCD Uncage and Sensor Select Forward to engage Maverick (ensure Maverick seeker displayed on left MPCD, and Maverick and Uncage indication on HUD, 'IRMV' and 'U') Activate TPOD Use TDC to slew to target and set best possible picture for good lock Watch left MPCD for lock indication and RIFLE, ensure right MPCD remains on and TPOD remains active Lather rinse repeat until Winchester, RTB and get to the O Club/Officer's Mess Is that right? F/A 18C Hornet Flight demonstration video question
AcroGimp replied to Fuelburner's topic in Screenshots and Videos
When in freecam if you want smoother movement you need to edit one of the .LUA files, I think the explanation is in the Cameras and Views thread - turning the value down to some low fraction smooths the movement out for pan, tilt and zoom. 'Gimp (DISCO) -
Final report - I deleted the Harrier from the mission and re-inserted it and all is well. Was some kind of corruption issue in the mission. 'Gimp (DISCO)

Appears to have been a mission corruption related issue, deleted and re-inserted the Harrier and all is well. 'Gimp (DISCO)

Finally felt comfortable enough in the Harrier to take it out at night from some action - went 4 for 4 with the Mavericks after doing a repair on 2.5 and uninstalling and then reinstalling the Harrier. Capped it off with my first (albeit sloppy) night landing on the Saipan, using NVG's (and landing lights on too bright). DCS is amazing - love this thing. 'Gimp (DISCO)

Turns out to be 2 issues. I did remove and reinstall the Harrier module using the Updater. 1st is an apparent corruption in my 2 existing missions with respect to AGM-65D for the Stores Management Computer, AGM-65G is OK. Second was an issue I will call operator error but which does not match the behavior I've seen on countless Youtube videos. Pressing the TDC Action Down after Sens Select FWD will not get the Maverick to lock, I need to bump the TDC slew buttons - this seems to be present for both DMT and TPOD aiming. Going to load up another mission and try again but also could have been using IR missiles in daytime against buildings vs armor targets. Thanks for suggestions. More later if warranted. 'Gimp

So checked this AM with DCS OB 2.5 repair and instant action they load up correctly but will not lock from DMT or TPOD now. Verified they were warmed up showing RDY but pushing Sens Select FWD would not get IRMV indication on HUD, also press TDC Action no resulting lock-up. Only change was adding VVMA-213 skin pack I think. Going to uninstall and reinstall Harrier and see if that does it - kinda sucks but not sure what else to do. 'Gimp

For the AV-8B I turn DS off for night ops and although it loses a touch of realism it is far more usable, especially the flashlight, the oblong NVG pattern is not correct to real world but is also far more usable than with DS on. 'Gimp

The AGM-65 D and G get a 'SMC cannot load weapon launch program, load cancelled' message, in RAZBAM AV-8BNA only. Checked in FC3 A-10A and functioning fine. Was working fine before patch up to Hotfix 4. Ideas? 'Gimp

Getting an 'SMC cannot load selected store launch program, load cancelled' message when trying to select AGM-65 D or G's in Caucuses map, new issue was fine before latest patch - anyone else? 'Gimp
