F-35A Announcement discussion mega thread.
Canada_Moose replied to LimePartician's topic in DCS: F-35A
Hornet, A10 - they got the actual sounds. Boeing even helped with the Hornet. They clearly have all the permissions and project plan lined up. Why don't you just do them a favour and let them show what they can do? Ding, ding, we have a winner! -

So not taking that bet then? Let me know when the FBI show up at the ED office as you seem to know more than the rest of us. -

They aren't risking anything. This has been discussed for over 2 years internally. They have their reasons. Armchair lawyers not required. if you are right, the FBI will be lining up a raid forthwith and DCS / ED will be out of business. What time frame would you like to put on it? I'm willing to make that bet with you that nothing happens because ED have already done diligence on this. Perhaps the FBI are coming for IndiaFoxtEcho too? -

Lol, like that is any of your business. They know what they are doing from a legal perspective. Do you really believe that they would risk anything of that magnitude? -

My opinion doesn't matter. Its what ED releases to the sim. I get what they decide is good enough and then I choose to buy or not buy. Its the same for you. The reality is that this module will come in an EA state and will be worked on for years like the Hornet and others. It will also bring many module sales which are needed to keep this sim moving forward. I can guarantee that the number of moaners on here will be far outweighed by the people who are excited for this release. It will also bring in new players (and new $$) -

If ED think it’s doable to DCS standards then it’s good enough for me. Some of the pontificating on this thread is outrageous and way out of order. DCS has come so far and I could only have dreamed about such fidelity and graphics when I started on C64 and Amiga sims. How about we just give these guys a chance to deliver? If you don’t like the final product when it comes out, don’t buy it but please stop being absolute killjoys to the entire project. -

How do we know ED haven’t been asked to get involved with creating a procedural sim like they did with the A-10? They have contacts at Lockheed Martin I think? They may have more access to information than they are allowed to divulge at the present time. -
You would think he would more than likely be.

Canada_Moose replied to Lace's topic in DCS 2.9
its NOT an F22 look at the intake and the nose profile It even has the F35A shoulder hump for the gun. -
This is a joke right? The Hornet has been endlessly developed since I got in the pre-purchase phase. Its been the best value product I have ever purchased in DCS along with the A10C that then became the A10CII

Canada_Moose replied to markturner1960's topic in DCS: Iraq
This has always been the way with simulators. I have spent $1000's on FSX, Flightsim, P3D, DCS addons etc. If people dont want to pay for addon scenery, thats fine. The base sim is free and comes with some free scenery. Addon scenery costs money to make. Satellite data, mesh data etc is not cheap, especially for commercial use. -
major stutters when playing CASE 1 flyover in VR
Canada_Moose replied to Gil80's topic in Bugs and Problems
Same here. I get great performance on Quest 3 in general, even on maps like Syria but the SuperCarrier is like the place FPS goes to die. -
Pre Purchase Performance on Release Question
Canada_Moose replied to Canada_Moose's topic in DCS: Iraq
Thanks for the info! -
Hello ED team. I am very interested in purchasing the Iraq complete region for the great intro price but performance is a very big consideration for me being primarily a VR flyer. Syria is the benchmark for me in performance vs detail. Can you confirm that Iraq will perform similar to Syria? 5900X 32GB RAM 4080 Super Quest 3 (only single player)

A-G radar EXP3 scanning is broken and unusable (MT)
Canada_Moose replied to Rissala's topic in Bugs and Problems
I can ad I can add a track file but I am seeing the same behaviour as described above by @Temetre It never resolves to an image that looks like the one in Wags tutorial video (where he can actually designate an individual element on the airfield) -
A-G radar EXP3 scanning is broken and unusable (MT)
Canada_Moose replied to Rissala's topic in Bugs and Problems
I was watching Wags video on EXP modes and for EXP3 he gets a very detailed map in this mode at 19,000 feet and 16 miles out. I cannot for the life of me get this to work the same way. Is it broken? -
Any update as to when mid-mission saves will be implemented?
Canada_Moose replied to goot66's topic in DCS Core Wish List
This feature would be a godsend for campaigns. I love the ones I have but nothing worse than getting more than half way through a 2 hour mission only to run out of time. -
Best DCS map addon available for me. Really good update has made it better

Looking forward to the perf reports!

These huge texture files are completely unnecessary. The well known civilian sim has been using compressed high res textures for years with no issues. Jabbers recent video regarding VRAM usage in DCS clearly shows how these huge model textures are impacting things. Its especially annoying when these same flyable model textures are being loaded in for AI use.

You only have to see the thread distribution graphs and the frame time spikes to know something has dramatically changed in the code. Along with this is the evidence from the previous campaigns that worked fine in terms of units. There also hasn't been any major step forward in DCS visuals / graphics features that would warrant such a change in perf between 2.9.5 and 2.9.7. My guess is that its part of the MT improvements project that has gone wrong along the way somewhere. Im sure ED will get to the bottom of it. Its just how long it takes......

correct radio frequency / channel? Easy comms on or off?
