  1. In VR it appears to make zero difference what this slider is set at. 2D is a different story......
  2. If you are using a Rift S why would you use Steam VR in the first place? Rift S is natively supported in DCS All I have is OTT with the Oculus drivers and 2.7 is better perf than previously even with the new clouds etc.
  3. You are welcome. Just for the record, after a clean update to 2.7, I ran the repair and found several issues. It was just a suggestion.
  4. Have you tried running the repair option?
  5. For what it’s worth, after the patch for 2.7 installed, I went ahead and ran a repair straight away which found a fairly large number of issues. After that my 2.7 perf was good. perhaps it’s worth doing this to see if it helps?
  6. This would make sense, but if you compare 2D to VR, clouds on highest level and all other settings equal, the way the clouds look is night and day different. Is there a known reason for this? Please refer to pics posted above. It also appears that the cloud quality setting makes no difference in VR. I will add that the performance seems excellent in 2.7 in both 2D and VR. I will also add that the clouds look really good in 2D. I just want to see the same effect in my Rift S.
  7. The clouds in 2D have more defined edges. The VR version look like the edges are diffused and have no body to them.
  8. Like I said, in VR, adjusting gamma for the shade screws up the lighting in the bright sunshine. The balance is off. Anyway, I don't need to argue about it with you because the dev further up the post has acknowledged its off and they just didn't have time to fix it yet. In other words, it will be changed. https://forums.eagle.ru/topic/268020-overly-dark-when-flying-in-shade-under-a-cloud/?do=findComment&comment=4627716
  9. Again, all fine until you go under said cloud. Then your pupil will adjust to the lighting conditions in the shade. Right now flying under the cloud is like somebody switched off the lights. Its not like that in real life. I know.
  10. The dev further up the page has already said they will be fixing it so it’s already seen as an issue by ED.
  11. Dont agree at all. In real life your pupils would adjust for the transition. In the game all that happens is that you cant see anything (at least not in VR anyway). If I adjust the gamma to correct for the shadowed terrain then the sunlit areas are totally washed out. Thats not realistic at all.
  12. The low cloud quality and overall 'blurriness' in VR is not mentioned at all, only the jittering / jumping / dancing clouds.
  13. Yes, you can barely see any ground features or runways etc under the cloud shadows. Especially difficult in VR. if you adjust the gamma then when you are outside the cloud shadows it’s all too bright. Definitely needs some adjustments
  14. Clouds look great in 2D. Really bad in VR. Even if the jumping gets fixed soon the low res of the clouds is really awful. also finding that the gamma setting is hard to adjust now because any terrain under the cloud shadows is hard to see in the headset but if it’s not under shadows the sunlight is way too bright on the terrain. It’s a diffI cult tradeoff. performance does seem better to me so that’s good.
  15. Forest Detail Factor and Scenery Detail Factor are both new as well. Does the manual cover these options? (haven't had chance to look)
  16. Hornet or A10C II
  17. Ill raise you a JP233
  18. Its ED themselves that say that. Just do a search for yourself. Of course there is nothing stopping you from setting them how you wish. Personally with a Titan Xp, 4xMSAA on its own in DCS with even a light mission and assets is not very pleasing from a performance perspective. If you add 1.5x SSAA into that as well, then good luck. ED recommends one or the other. More than likely for perf reasons alone. No, he doesn't
  19. Agreed. A lot of the attraction of the SC is the nice looking and functioning deck crew. Optimization is important but surely there are other fish to fry?
  20. Games are nothing like movies. Every frame in a movie has motion blur. Thats one of the main reasons that films are shot at that speed. Computer generated frames don't have that luxury. There are many, many articles and papers that explain why movie FPS and game FPS are not comparable. I'm shocked that this conversation is even coming up again in 2021. Here is just one of many: https://paulbakaus.com/tutorials/performance/the-illusion-of-motion/ Even try for yourself: https://frames-per-second.appspot.com/ Google is your friend.......
  21. Didn't say it wouldn't work on any resolution. I said you shouldn't based on info from ED. Take it or leave it. Also, back in 2018, SSAA was disabled for resolutions above 1080p in an update patch. The option may not even do anything above 1080p even now, im not sure, There was even a video in which Matt Wagner explained that SSAA had been put in for people running at lower resolutions.
  22. Should not be using MSAA and SSAA together on any system. Its one or the other. In fact, as per MW, SSAA was only introduced for people running at lower resolutions (1080 and below) Ambient Occlusion isn't even supported in DCS. Most Nvidia CP settings are completely ignored by the DCS differed render engine. FXAA still works, vsync etc. Most of the others do nada.
  23. Or just get VAICOM which fare more realistic and fun as well!
