Yeah, The Enemy Within 3.0 is still payware and gets constant updates to be compatible with the latest Open Betas and the A10C II module. Piercing Fury is now deprecated and hence why its free in the user files section. The update to use the A10C II module was also done as a freebie. I'm sure it will eventually get updated again by some kind soul. You cant expect payware support for an abandoned module so you do what you can. TEW 3.0 works great for me. There have been some issues in some of the open beta versions but they get fixed by BD fairly quickly

Well, there has to be some perf improvements in 2.7 or else those pretty clouds are going to eat FPS and leave a lot of people disappointed. Experiences with FSX, P3D etc have shown that clouds can be a real perf killer. I hope its not a case of 'bolting on more' to an already stressed graphics engine.

Wrong forum. A10C II is above!

Works fine for me with the occasional issue of him ignoring commands. One of the big items I have noticed is that the wingman seems to have to visually confirm the target and relay that to you on the radio before he will engage or acknowledge the target exists. The other issue of course is that you are possibly on the wrong frequency or using the wrong radio to communicate to him. Either fix this or use easy comms option.

If you are on Ryzen 3000 or 5000 you will be better off with 4 sticks. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-3000-best-memory-timings,6310-2.html

I'm not sure what your question is? The 1050 was a terribly under powered card even when it was new. You can try and eek out a bit more perf like you are doing but you will never get the results that the 1080 was seeing. If you are getting decent perf with the settings you have, given the card, I would accept things as they are and move as quickly as you can to upgrade the GPU.

Windows 10 feature update observations.
Canada_Moose replied to BIGNEWY's topic in Game Performance Bugs
Why don't you use Windows 10 Pro? I have refused the 2004 update and will continue to do so for the time being. -
32 GB of RAM does not mean a 32GB pagefile.
-
What does this even mean? What are minimum requirements of AMD FX? Wasn’t this line of cpus discontinued in 2017?

But we already have an air brake?

Hornet roadmap poll: a quick analysis of trends
Canada_Moose replied to TLTeo's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Im on here quite often but had no idea about this poll until last night. -
Correct, it does not work in VR. Google could have been Zuhkov's friend :music_whistling:

Flat shadows don't follow the contours of the ground etc so they get cut off and can look a bit odd. I use flat because the FPS impact is far less.
-
I think you were pretty clear. Some people not getting it for some reason. I agree, features like the improved Hornet gunsight or the fixed dispersion of the A10 gun and the 100's of other module specific fixes can surely be implemented to the stable version without the mess of the "improved'' 2.5.6 core graphics engine.
-
To be frank, at this point I would much rather have the bugfixes and new features (such as the hornet improved gunsight) but with the 2.5.5 engine. Because really, there are so many issues with performance and such in 2.5.6 that all the new features and bug fixes mean very little in the grand scheme of things.

Which campaigns are worth purchasing with the current discounts?
Canada_Moose replied to Nekhebu's topic in DCS 2.9
The F18 Aggressors Campaign is good as long as you have the Nevada map https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/products/campaigns/fa-18c_aggressors_bfm_campaign/ -
This is good to hear but wouldn't it make sense for the patch notes to reflect what has happened in this department so far?
-
If its a DLC campaign, Enemy Within 3.0 is the clear winner
-
Although I wouldn’t have put it quite so brutally, I share your sentiment.
-
So really nothing in this patch for performance except a note saying 'performance review ongoing'? I always appreciate the updates but it would be good to know a bit more about whats going on in this aspect, especially as its such a huge factor.

[REPORTED]VR Performance OB 2.5.6
Canada_Moose replied to Gripen 4-1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
You mean the people that had perfectly acceptable performance on 2.5.5? Nothing has changed on their end except for the update to 2.5.6 Why would anybody be 'doubling up' on any settings all of a sudden? There has already been evidence posted in other areas of this forum that the CPU is being hit a lot harder in 2.5.6 than in 2.5.5 Considering that currently DCS is pretty much single threaded and hits one core to 100% all the time, extra drain on the same thread of the CPU would not be a good situation, especially in VR. You will find most people on here are not at their first rodeo....... -
Agreed. This is pretty poor form.

[REPORTED]VR Performance OB 2.5.6
Canada_Moose replied to Gripen 4-1's topic in Game Performance Bugs
According to other threads / topics it appears that its the CPU thats taking a hammering in 2.5.6, especially when lots of units are present. Far more so than in 2.5.5 This issue would be magnified in VR of course. Lets hope they figure it out.
