The explanation is great, but the lack of a new date is concerning.

What did I think of Kiowa? It needs to improve in some areas!
Jarhead0331 replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
My friend, I wasn't offended. I guess it could be the cultural difference, although I am not sure what planet you may be from. In my culture, we show respect and we pay attention to Subject Matter Experts. We just have intelligence and common sense. I'll spell out my point for you, since you clearly misunderstood. No, if Casmo jumped off a bridge, I wouldn't follow, because that would just be dumb. However, when it comes to the quality of the Kiowa in DCS and its authenticity compared to the real thing, I'm inclined to pay attention to a guy who has more than 2,000 hours flying the airframe...in combat too. To ignore the information provided by someone with that kind of experience and think that my judgment could possibly be better when it comes to those things is what we would call in my culture, foolish. But you're a dude with a computer from another planet, who must know better and who would rather just complain about what you perceive as sound and graphics issues instead of focusing on the module as a simulation, so rock on!- 592 replies

Jarhead0331 replied to ThorBrasil's topic in DCS: OH-58 Kiowa
That is a pretty bone-headed comment. The guy flew Kiowas for over 10 years and has commented that he likes it and that it rivals and in some areas even surpasses anything they had in the Army to train with. What are your bonafides, being a career complainer?- 592 replies

[No Bug] Cockpit brightness issue in VR
Jarhead0331 replied to Jarhead0331's topic in Bugs & Problems
Thanks, HB_Painter. I need to test this a little more, but my initial impressions after turning Global Cockpit Illumination on is that it has improved the problem substantially. I'll give more feedback once I have some time to really explore the new setting. -
Hard to see console controls (brightness/contrast)
Jarhead0331 replied to Deyth's topic in Bugs & Problems
Yup. Same problem here. Using Pimax Crystal. -
Very strange issue while in the cockpit. Brightness is very low making it almost impossible to read gauges, dials, etc. However, if I go into the F10 view (ie. the map) and then go back to cockpit, normal brightness is restored. Unfortunately, it is a temporary fix. Timing on when it goes dark seems to vary, F10 always fixes it temporarily. VR gear is a Pimax Crystal. I will test this on my Varjo Aero shortly. For the record, i have also experienced this in the Apache, but not as severe. I tend to not be as distracted by it because it doesn't seem as dark and once fixed, it seems to stay fixed. F-4 always reverts to dark so far. Any ideas?

DCS F-4E Phantom II Release Date Announcement- May 21st 2024
Jarhead0331 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
Really? That's your response? Then how about running the final check the day before the holiday!? Alternatively, pick a release date that does not fall on the day after a holiday. This isn't rocket science. You can go through whatever mental gymnastics you want to excuse poor planning, but that is the bottom line. It is so obvious that it is almost hard to believe that it isn't purposeful. -
DCS F-4E Phantom II Release Date Announcement- May 21st 2024
Jarhead0331 replied to IronMike's topic in DCS: F-4E Phantom
I have a better idea...commit to a date and come hell or high water, just stick to it! There's a novel idea. I mean seriously, why are you doing final checks on something like this literally the DAY OF release? Couldn't this have been simply done the day before? If not, why not? What is the nuance here that prevents simple redundancy or getting ahead of an obvious possible problem before the actual day of release? This is another entirely self-inflicted wound that easily could have been avoided with just a little bit of better planning. This is the frustrating part.- 715 replies

As it states in my post, I contacted support and opened a ticket. But thank you for your otherwise very helpful reply.

I have had my Virpil Mongoose T-50CM3 for about two years. It is connected to a back-up computer that I do not use often. The throttle is in like new condition and only slightly used. I was using it tonight briefly and noticed that I was unable to release the throttle locking pin. The magnetic button seems to have detached and is loose. The button is still inside of the track, but it is loose and it moves from side to side, without sliding the pin so the axis throttles are stuck together in the locked position. I'm pretty disappointed by this. I have had the Trustmaster Warthog for close to an decade and have not had any problems like this. I also have many winwing products and have not had quality issues. For a $450 throttle, I would not expect a problem like this. The button that controls the locking pin feels cheap. Do you guys know of any way to fix this? Is there some way to unlock the pin other than with the button which is clearly broken, at least temporarily? Any advice or recommendations appreciated. I’ve opened a support ticket with Virpil.

It wouldn’t be the first time, nor the last, that a party to a contract breached confidentiality or non-disparagement provisions. As a lawyer and commercial litigator, I see it all the time and it’s no indicator of who is in the legal right here with respect to the underlying dispute. Furthermore, and largely depending on the language of the contractual provisions, even if ED breached first in some way with respect to payment, it would most likely not permit Razbam to violate any other provision of the contract, nor serve as any meritorious defense to such a claim.
-
Agreed. The only real losers will be the dedicated fans...ie. us.
-
This sounds like personality and ego driving this fight in my personal opinion. ED most certainly has contracts with these TPDs that also most certainly contain payment provisions and dispute resolution provisions. I bet they even contain non-disparagement and confidentiality provisions. Thus, the whole public airing of this grievance is just rubbing me the wrong way, and to then state you're simply "done" developing for DCS in response to Nick's initial public response...Pretty unprofessional I think.
-
Yeah...ED better get ahead of this or else there could be significant PR consequences.
