DCS F/A-18 C JHMCS, how do I lock a target?
Sparky1b09 replied to Maddog_aut's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Chastises another member for supposedly wasting forum space by asking question then wastes forum space by replying to same post multiple times....makes sense. -
Track IR5 with Pro Clip for sale. I bought this new in April of this year. I stopped using it in August of this year because I started using VR and love VR so much that I won't be using the Track IR any longer. This includes everything that came in the package except the instructions, but better instructions can be found on YouTube for setup and calibration. This includes: The sensor that mounts on your monitor The Infrared emitter that mounts to your headphones The reflector that mounts to your ballcap if you don't wear headphones I am asking $100 for this and the price includes this being mailed to your front door. Here is the Amazon page that I bought it from if you would like to compare prices. https://www.amazon.com/TrackIr-Optical-Tracking-System-Bundle/dp/B00KQPETHO/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1541455278&sr=8-2&keywords=trackir+pro+clip

I've looked around here a bit and I'm surprised to not find a place where members can sell or buy from other members. I have a Track IR5 I'm wanting to sell because I went to VR. But I know if I post it in the wrong location someone will chew my a$$. Is there a proper place to do that sort of thing here or can someone tell me a good site to do that? Like I said, I'm kind of surprised there's not a place I've seen here to do that because our equipment is kind of specialized to our hobby as opposed to the gaming community in general and there's always someone wanting to upgrade but doesn't have money to buy new at the time. Thanks for any help.

I adjusted mine to almost zero tension. I did this because otherwise during air to air refueling it would be too jumpy for the precision needed for that task. I have just enough tension so it will hold its position without drifting on its own.

Sent you a PM.

Trouble refueling with HOTAS X

I use the 16000 and really like it. It’s affordable but does a good job and has a lot of buttons. Here’s a link to it on Amazon and it’s price right now. https://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-T16000M-FCS-Flight-Pack/dp/B01N2PE8CZ/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1536854320&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=thrustmaster+t16000m&dpPl=1&dpID=41AYvwZA6zL&ref=plSrch -
I bought a Lenovo Explorer on Amazon without any hand controllers because I’m only going to use it with DCS for only $118. I’m very pleased with it so far. DCS is very different in VR, in a good way! Setup was a breeze. I do kind of miss how pretty DCS was on my monitor but the immersion is so cool that I’ll never go back. Yesterday when I was starting up my F-18 Hornet, when the canopy was lowering, i actually moved my hand because I was afraid the canopy was going to come down on my hand, yes,it’s that real. Whatever you get I’m sure you will enjoy it.

Since this is my very first experience with VR I have nothing to compare it with. But in the F-18 cockpit, when I look directly at the color moving map I can see a bit past the canopy ejection handle on the left and the hook up/down lever on the right. Hope this helps. I was wondering about blurry images on the edges too and they don't seem bad at all, doesn't bother me at all. I had to increase the IPD in DCS to about 67. That made things clearer than the stock setting. Can someone please tell me how I can see my framerate. I would like to see how it's doing as I change things.

Oh my gosh!!! I got it hooked up and working and was immediately amazed at the view from the cockpit just sitting on the tarmac. I actually, without thinking, tried to reach out and touch the F-18 dash. I felt like an idiot as soon as I did. But that is what it felt like. Then I taxied and it was even better, so I took off and when I went into a slow bank I first felt like I was going to fall out of my chair, then I felt just a tiny queasy and had to look at the dash to stop that feeling. I now need to start playing with my settings but this was amazing! I get a little screen door effect but in mission it goes away because I don't think about it. I'm going to go through these forums now and see what settings you guys are using to maximize performance. I think I'm going to like this!

Hey everyone, I will receive my first VR in the mail tomorrow. I bought a Lenovo Explorer at what seems to be a very good price based on feedback from someone I know online who's dad uses one after not being as pleased with another brand as he had hoped. I'm not going to mention the other brand because I don't want this to turn into a " he doesn't know what he's talking about" kind of thread. I just want some outside feedback on this model if anyone can help. I also bought this one because the price was so good that if a much improved newer generation would come out soon, I can upgrade and not feel bad about the money I spent on this one. I will only use it for DCS so I have a couple of questions. Part of the reason his dad likes the Lenovo is because of the increased resolution. Has anyone else tried one of these and if so did you notice any improvement? I am in my 60's and wear glasses and figured any increase would be of a great help to me. He also said the headgear was much lighter and easier on his face. Secondly, does flying in VR make a difference in how easy or difficult you find certain tasks, like A-A refueling, ect.? Or is there not much difference in the difficulty, just better immersion? I have always found the users of this forum to be helpful and honest in their advice so thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Sparky

AG-51 is always ready to welcome new members. We are a naval aviation based squad but fly almost all DCS modules including helicopters. Right now we are concentrating on learning the Hornet since it’s the newest release. We are a mature group of guys who age from the 30’s into the 60’s. So obviously everyone is welcome. We formally get together at 22:00 est. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday but members meet informally at all hours of the day. We have many members who excel at mission building so we always have new and different missions to fly. We also have some real life pilots in jets and helicopters so there is a deep knowledge base in our squad. But beginners with no experience, like myself, are welcomed and treated with respect. There is no pressure to attend a certain number of squad nights, you only show up when you can, real life always comes first. We have members from all across the USA, a Canadian, a member in Japan and a member from Queensland Australia. I guess the only requirement is to speak English. If you’re interested check out our website. This is the link to the public part of our forum, there is much more in the secure ( members ) section. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions or would like to fly with a couple of us sometime to check us out.http://airgroup51.net/forum/index.php

Russhin, there’s nothing wrong with the way you’re doing it. I did the same thing, dropping gear and flaps before the break, and trimming out. It does lower your work load in the downwind. After I became comfortable with flying and landing that way I started doing it by the book and knowing how the aircraft was going to behave was a huge help. So just keep doing what you’re doing now and when your skills improve, and they will, you can start doing it more by the book. Like the others have said, the more you practice the better you will become. Happy landings buddy.
-
Thanks, but if you reread my posts you will see that I wasn’t asking for help.
-
Flaps are full and gear is down. You can tell me how wrong I am all you want but when you’re done talking it still works for me.
-
I don't doubt anything you are saying but all I can say is that it works almost perfectly for me.
-
I had that same problem. I decided to do some straight line flying while in landing configuration ( full flaps, gear down, hook down) and see what it too took to get trimmed out properly. After many tests I found that holding my trim hat up and counting to 25 fairly quickly, which takes approximately 12 seconds, trims me pretty close to where I need to be. So I do this as soon as I begin my break and by the time I get into the downwind all I need to do is bump the trim up or down a time or two to fine tune it. That gives me time to make sure my altitude and carrier distance is correct before I'm in position to start the 180. Doing this has me pretty well trimmed out before I level out into the downwind and makes the rest of the pattern process a lot easier to manage.
-
You are correct.

I sent a couple of PM's to you guys but they are not showing in my sent folder. Please check your inbox and if you didn't get them please let me know and I'll try again. Thanks to your quick response guys! I look forward to flying with you. Oh, btw, I do have a Thrustmaster hotas and rudder pedals to answer Drag.

Hey everyone. I have gotten back into flight sims after a break of about 10 years. Right now I own the 2 free planes that come with the download and I just bought Flaming Cliffs 3 so I own the planes that come with that also. I would like to find someone that is kind of in the same position that I am, still learning, to fly and learn with. I would eventually like to join a squadron to fly with but would like to be a bit more skilled before that happens so right now I would prefer a person or 2 or 3 who would like to practice everything from weapons training to formation flying, comms and so forth. I am 63 years old and retired so my hours are flexible. I live in the Central time zone in the US. I'm easy to get along with and competitive at the same time. So if you're a relative newbie and would like a partner to learn/practice with while having a good time please let me know and we'll set something up. I have Trackir and a microphone. Thanks!
