This weeks update is for Release anyway, so I wouldn't be expecting anything for OB yet. Also, Hornet updates are supposed to be monthly now, rather then fortnightly as they've done in the past, so probably the 17th would be a likely release date, if things have gone well enough for the development of it, which is also not guaranteed. Honestly though, my theory or any one else's are pure speculation, it's really likely that ED themselves don't really know when it will be ready and can only make guesses themselves at this stage. Just cross your fingers, wait with baited breath, it will happen soon enough :)

I'm not doubting you, just looking to confirm something, the HT is set to 300ft and you intend it to burst at 300ft AGL? and are you determining the burst using F6 view and seeing the altitude at 1000ft-1200ft MSL? or am I wrong and you were you expecting and doing things differently?

not sure what you mean by that, I routinely destroy sa-10 sites with jsow a's.

which JSOW variant we'll get next Wednesday?
launchedsquid replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
thanks, I thought it might do some sort of tracking of a target but it didn't make much sense to me if it did, 'scene-matching' does make more sense. -
which JSOW variant we'll get next Wednesday?
launchedsquid replied to WildBillKelsoe's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
From wikipedia "AGM-154C (unitary variant) The AGM-154C uses an Imaging Infrared (IIR) terminal seeker with autonomous guidance. The AGM-154C carries the BROACH warhead. This two stage warhead is made up from a WDU-44 shaped augmenting warhead and a WDU-45 follow through bomb. The weapon is designed to attack hardened targets. It entered service with the US Navy in February 2005." Do you know if this different to the JSOW variant we're getting? or is it inaccurate? I would take "unitary variant" to mean that they'd all have the same features and would expect it to have some sort of infrared seeker in DCS based on this entry in wikipedia. -
HB are willing to licence Jester AI to others, so even if another dev does a two seater they don't need to build an AI copilot if they don't want to.

Definitely improved after the thrustmaster calibration utility was used, I still messed it up a bit so I'll be fine tuning it but it's already centering better and far less sensitive, thanks for your help. Anyone having this problem, download the Thrustmaster calibration tool, it is a vast improvement and far better than the windows calibration tool.

Hey Delta, I got my kit and installed it today but I'm getting the same problem as Legendofdino. Setting a deadzone that allows it to center takes 80% or more, it always wants to center to the left. It will center more to the center if it's centering from the right but from the left it's always more then half way between center and the edge. I've tried the Windows calibration tool but to be honest I have no idea if it even does anything other then show me where it points, can't say it "calibrated" any differently. I'll run the calibration tool again and get back to you with my results but I'm not overly hopeful I'll see a different result. I'm really hoping to get this sorted, it would be a cool upgrade if it wasn't misbehaving but right now I wouldn't be able to recommend it. -=EDIT=- I'm reading some earlier comments and some have referenced "proper calibration", perhaps you or someone else could talk me through "proper calibration" as I very easily could be doing it wrong.

Guy's, you all seem to be getting caught up unnecessarily in legalese. Chuck said "I'm not american, but I have to travel on american soil for work... in a world where the concept of privacy no longer exists. See where I'm going with this? At this point, I'd rather stay out of trouble and not risk it." It's seems to me he'd likely not breach any laws if he made the guide but it might raise questions that could give himself and his company unneeded difficulties when trying to work for US contractors. Also it's not because the F-14 has a foreign operator, like other types do, it's because the foreign operator is Iran and the US has sanctions against Iran specifically. I love his guides, I hope he does some more, but frankly if he's simply sitting this one out or decided he's done with guides altogether, fair enough, and thank you Chuck for all you've done so far.

The tactic of firing, escaping, extending, re-engaging is based on the premise that you have at least one wingman, and that wingman can occupy your opponents attention while you perform your escape allowing you to re-engage from beyond your opponents effective threat range (during which time your wingman would likely be performing his escape maneuver and be needing you to cover him). If you're in the fight 1v1 or 1v2 or 1vMany you can't follow this tactic reliably because once you turn defensive you give your opponent a huge tactical advantage and any attempt to re-engage will be incredibly risky unless you've managed to lose your opponent. Remember, as soon as you turned away he likely has a positional, speed, aspect and SA advantage over you, that's tough to beat. My best advice in 1v1 or 1vMany is to commit to the attack, once started stay committed until you win or die. If you make them turn defensive you have all those advantages I mentioned above, use them to quickly destroy your opponent and move onto the next bandit ASAP before that one gets you. It's a risky tactic for sure but it gives you the chance to use your advantages when they arise. Still the best option is to work with others you trust as a team, a flight of 2 is more effective together then 2 lone wolves.

F-14 Air to Air Vs. Air to Ground Payload
launchedsquid replied to pistolpete01's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
there isn't room for more missiles. -
I'm wondering if it would be possible to add a system if it isn't already included, similar to what Heatblur did with the Viggen data-card, where we can program the anti-ship missile via the F10 map for multiplayer use. Using the mission editor is fine for offline but is unavailable to players when online.

Will server hosts be able to "ban" JESTER in MP?
launchedsquid replied to QuiGon's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
DUDE! I agree with you, you're not understanding me, I'm on your side. -
Will server hosts be able to "ban" JESTER in MP?
launchedsquid replied to QuiGon's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I think you misunderstood my point, I was talking to those that want to prevent this, If Jester can be outperformed by a human why would it matter if the server blocked Jester, if you were relying on Jester you'd lose. -

launchedsquid replied to QuiGon's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
If a human RIO is more competent than JESTER why do you have a problem with servers being able to block JESTER and force humans? -

AJS37 Data Cartridge generation and loading for MP
launchedsquid posted a topic in DCS: AJS37 Viggen
First of all, if you know where this topic has already been covered please direct me to that thread, I haven't found it or what I've found hasn't answered my questions yet. I want to make a selection of data cartridges with different missions, maritime strike, convoy strike, etc that I can pick from when I join a multiplayer server. I don't know how to make them or load them, I've seen tutorials that explain it but I don't even know what program they're using or if it's included in Heatblurs install or if it's a third party program. I'd love a tutorial or instruction list that goes from desktop to taxi, if possible, including relevant downloads if necessary but any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance for the help. -
NS430 being charged for different modules?
launchedsquid replied to BlazingTrigger's topic in DCS: NS 430
I have to agree with Smudge here, the wording used to promote the NS430 was ambiguous at the least and I certainly thought I was buying one module that would eventually be available with other aircraft. Phrasing like "starting with the mi8" certainly made me believe that the module I was purchasing was being developed to work with other aircraft not that new modules where being developed separately. I assumed the reason I was reading comments like "so far only for the mi8 and "may only be for mi8" were technical limitations that might prevent development for other aircraft, they were hardly solid denials. -
The art of the kill is F16 focused and presented by a F16 pilot, the technique he advocates pretty much "turn as hard as you can until you out turn your opponent" and is suitable for the F16 because it is a MONSTER at sustained turns. The Hornet isn't, It's great at low speed maneuverability and pulling high alpha but can't pull the g that an F16 can and loses energy faster than the F16 would. You should use maneuvers that suit your aircrafts advantages, ie scissors or yoyo's, maneuvers that bleed energy from your opponent because as you both lose energy the relative advantage your F18 has over your opponent grows, ultimately the F/A18C will still be controllable and you'll be able to attack your opponent at speeds that can have them stalling.

I voted for keep, The real J11 has data link so it isn't like we're adding capability, I know it isn't strictly correct but other compromises exist in dcs world, especially in FC3 aircraft with various systems being automated or omitted. Removing the data link would have the aircraft stray further from the real J11 than keeping the data link on board, if the data were available I'm sure the correct data link would have been modeled.
