I think the Long lead time for edge speaks to why they're working on it's replacement, it would likely take just as long, so start now and it might still be 5 - 10 years away. Time in DCS World seems to run slower then it does for me :)

Why is the Viper getting TWS before the Hornet?
launchedsquid replied to key_stroked's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
But...The Hornet isn't further behind the Viper. The Hornet has; JDAMs JSOWs MAVs HARMs Harpoons Center pylon fuel tank exterior lights moving map IFF Jettison etc You guys have got to calm down a bit, the order of features coming on line is irrelevant. -
Can you show me how you've pasted it in, I think I may not have written the instructions clear enough. For the purpose of just copy and paste, replace this; local fuselageLeft = { { CLSID = "{8D399DDA-FF81-4F14-904D-099B34FE7918}" }, -- AIM-7M { CLSID = "{AIM-7F}" }, { CLSID = "{AIM-7H}" }, { CLSID = "{C8E06185-7CD6-4C90-959F-044679E90751}" }, -- AIM-120 { CLSID = "{40EF17B7-F508-45de-8566-6FFECC0C1AB8}" }, -- AIM-120C } with this; local fuselageLeft = { { CLSID = "{8D399DDA-FF81-4F14-904D-099B34FE7918}" }, -- AIM-7M { CLSID = "{AIM-7F}" }, { CLSID = "{AIM-7H}" }, { CLSID = "{C8E06185-7CD6-4C90-959F-044679E90751}" }, -- AIM-120 { CLSID = "{40EF17B7-F508-45de-8566-6FFECC0C1AB8}" }, -- AIM-120C { CLSID = "{A111396E-D3E8-4b9c-8AC9-2432489304D5}" }, --Litening } You don't need to change anything else. While my understanding is that the litening was only fitted to the center and left fuselage in real life, you could put that line on any of the stations and I'm pretty sure DCS will let it work.
-
helpfully the F-14's paddle switch will turn off your roll sas for you.
-
The US Navy also never used Litening pods, they used ATFLIR. When a Marine Squadron is on the carrier they operate as a Navy Squadron, so they use ATFLIR and have it mounted on the cheek station as well.

Logic of JDAM pages on MFD, need help understanding
launchedsquid replied to Fisherman82's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
burst height works -
of course it can
-
There are air forces that use the litening tgp on the cheek station also, they usually have a shroud or something that attached between the fuselage and the pod, getting this done could be the delay, it was afterall not intended to be a part of this module and their tpod stuff is schedule to be done later after some other things are developed for DCS.

[ALREADY REPORTED]ladder down in multiplayer ?
launchedsquid replied to FZG_Immel's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
if the planes are already started on the ramp the ladder is stowed, at least it has been in servers I've been in. -
[ALREADY REPORTED]ladder down in multiplayer ?
launchedsquid replied to FZG_Immel's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
in servers where I've had to do a cold start, auto start or manually started, the ladder is showing, but in servers where the aircraft are hot on the ramp the ladder is stowed. -
I just copy and paste a mod version of the file or the original version of the file, no need to run some other program, just overwrite the file, takes 4 seconds.
-
This is the path DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\FA-18C\FA-18C.lua open it in notepad++ or something. copy line 164 it will say { CLSID = "{A111396E-D3E8-4b9c-8AC9-2432489304D5}" }, --Litening paste it under line 137, make sure the parenthesis is under the line, it will look like this { CLSID = "{A111396E-D3E8-4b9c-8AC9-2432489304D5}" }, --Litening } save the file. I recommend you save a copy of the original first, incase you want to roll back to original, this will invalidate your integrity check so if you fly in servers that run that you may not be able to join with the file modded. next time you update the file will return to its original state. have fun.

you're getting the error because the F-16 isn't available on the stable release yet.

According to Wikipedia an AIM-7 weighs nearly twice as much as an AMRAAM, given the claims that the 120's cause stress damage when on the tips, maybe the 7's were never considered just because of weight.

they work for me.

Boresight radar lock for short range aim-120 launch
launchedsquid posted a topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
:helpsmilie:I'm going mad, I can't lock a target that is directly in front of me so I can fire an aim-120. I can lock a target at range, close and fire my first missile, get the kill if possible but I'm being slaughtered by the other guy. I can't lock him up without going heads down, but i need to maneuver and keep my eyes on him. I can get a Aim-9 lock, but I want to use an aim-120. whether I'm in A/A, missile override, or dogfight mode pressing tms up doesn't lock anything.:joystick: the best I get is a gun lock when I get close. I'm carrying my second Aim-120 for nothing. I'm so used to using boresight in the hornet, it's easy, but it feels like there is no such thing in the Viper or something. I can't find anything on getting a short range lock, and the missle swap button on my warthog hotas doesn't seem to do anything either. Please help me with this, please could someone give me a step by step walk through as if I'm an idiot child that can only use small words, preferably someone with the warthog running the default ED control scheme as I am, because frankly I feel like an idiot here. Thanks in advance.:helpsmilie: -
it's day 3, there's only been three days, I don't know what timeframe you complete detailed system simulations in, but three days would be too quick to gauge even an estimate for the development pace.

you gotta give him time to update SRS.

Do you have proof the US Navy used different ammo then is currently in the sim? If you do, or think you do, you should post here, or if it's a manual, just give us the reference and page number so you don't break rule 1.16. Just because the Hornet could do something or fire something isn't enough, it has to be the US Navy specifically, the same way the AGM-65G's were removed, the Hornet can use them, but the US Navy didn't so it isn't in the sim. We've seen ED make changes like that when proof has been shown, you could be the one that gets this change to happen.

According to a pilot interview I saw, he said that most squadrons only have one or two tgp's and will only move them from airframe to airframe if there is a need for it and the plane currently fitted with it is down for maintenance.

upgraded? from a multi colour display to a black and white display... you and I have different definitions of upgrade.
-
So, just so I'm clear; Adding the ability to launch mavs from the inner most mount even though the Air Force never did that because it can damage the airplane, is good... Adding the chance of that damage to the tail from firing those missiles from those stations, that did happen to aircraft during testing and is the reason the Air Force doesn't mount them there, is bad.

[LATER IN EARLY ACCESS] Any news or updates on waypoint coupling?
launchedsquid replied to Arbil's topic in Wish List
I've seen on a post response from Wags quite a while ago that the Hornet is being modeled with MC OFP 13C. The Hornets with OFP 13C had Coupled Auto Sequential Steering, so if that is still the case we should expect it at some time. Like you said, it's a low priority system, but I'd like to know what we're waiting for to be completed before ED get to that, maybe INS? -
[PLANNED 03 October 2019] Viper coming today in OB?
launchedsquid replied to boedha68's topic in DCS 2.9
I love how you made this announcement as if anyone asked. Also, by my count, the only incomplete modules from ED are the F/A-18C LOT 20 and the Yak-52.
