They got our money for the modules and maps, why be in a hurry to deliver updates? No updates for the helo or the ED maps this patch today either... business as usual guys. Sometimes wondering if ED thinks we are giving them a hard time or not but honestly this constant no transparency and straight up delays without any explanations apart from 'we are working on it' does not help the customers as it tells us nothing and experience tells us the same story that nothing has changed. The other explanation is 'it's EA' so we can't make any expectations and it was our own choice to wait for some years for a finished product.

Same. I won't buy anymore for a long time until I see ED improving...can only imagine it will take years for Afghanistan to be completed.

So now ED has released the Iraq map but NOTHING in the changelog for any updates to the Afghanistan map...serious!?!? This seems like playing a joke with customers who paid months ago. I will not be surprised if the reason given is that it's a different team. Still the delay was because some core tech had to be updated to improve the rendering for all new maps right..?

With the state that the Afghanistan map was in when it was released (and still is today) - yes nothing would surprise me from ED to try and make some more money.

If I recall correctly the map was released 11th July which is now five months ago with no updates since. Again no comms on what is going on when a new patch is coming out as I think most people already feel they have already waited 'a little longer'... Sorry to sound harsh but ED, it would be really useful with a bit more comms on what is going on when it is obvious that people are assuming the latest patch would have an update in it.

Same experience with so many buggy places. I was told to report the locations but that would take forever if I have to give that for every screenshot. The details are at the bottom of the images anyway...

Correct. This question was asked in another thread with no reply.. I have not seen ED comment on any updates to the map since the first patch it came out.

Should hopefully be there within 2-3 years time, so check back then.

Give us a refund ED. This map is a dumpster fire. I got a refund request declined because 'some servers are using it' and 'there is an update soon'. Sorry ED but think this is way beyond what is acceptable by the devs that made this map. There are still a ton of areas that are unfinished. Making pretty custom buildings are not going to fix this the map. Seems like the devs have been sitting on their hands this last year. The devs should have gotten their act together and focus on fixing all the poor areas when they had an entire year to do so....

Still a ton of auto generated textures just dumped on the map... that's after a year waiting working on this update....null null

I tried to ask for a refund a couple of weeks ago but it was declined because the map 'did have updates' and is used on some servers.... So yeah once you release a product no matter what state and do nothing to update it for over a year, ED and the 3rd party devs got their money. This is ridiculous.

@NineLine provided some details earlier for how they approach the map. As I understood it, ED intend to build out all three parts of the map and based on its performance go back and add further details as long they believe it doesn’t impact performance too badly. Also it looks like they are experimenting with procedural generated maps + handcrafted on top to speed up the process of map generation. Anybody who can confirm this is correctly understood? This may address the immediate concerns/questions for low texture as well as the expectations for how ED will address it?

I am sure this map will be great one day. I have great hopes for it to be awesome. If only ED would have been so kind to be a bit more transparent up front, I'm sure it would have been appreciated by people instead of explanations after the release. There are parts that looks great and then are the areas not so much. So far Syria has set the bar for what a good map looks like. Not that we care but just that the news letter announcing the map said... Small correction - the first 1/3 of the map is out in EA. That part alone needs a lot of work to be completed, the follows the other 2/3 of Afghanistan.

The map looks horrible. Likely the will not be no statement from ED apart from it it EA and it's not for everybody to use EA products. So even a promise of 'we will deliver the southwest area' doesn't have any min. bar for completeness. We are left wondering why ED is rushing out this map and the Chinook.

Complete agree with you @Gunfreak it looks really poor the map. I feel ED has kept us in the dark. It’s the same with the chinook. No preview by anybody outside of ED. We only get to see cherry-picked photos or snippets from ED.

I only looks normal from like 10000 feet. When you get closer you can see how much of it is low res and unfinished.

The Kiowa had videos leading up to it. The F-4 had several videos on how the systems works. Wags had videos on the F-18, the F-16 prior to release... Yes, guess the Chinook EA release is not for everybody.

We are only a few days out from the release of the Chinook. Will there be any videos show casing what is getting released for the EA in July? Any start-up videos, etc? It seems a bit unusual that there are nothing prior to the release of a module. I'm interested in buying the helo but only got a bullet point list of what is supposed have on the EA release day.

AND 'with mouse interactive control' .... sure seems like they tried hard to make up some bullet points No videos, nothing that showcases what the helo will be capable of for the EA release but just asking people to buy it. Sorry not this time ED.
