Spitfire cockpit views functioning incorrectly after last patch
Hornetjock replied to RomeoLima's topic in Bugs and Problems
+1000 - add the rudder full opposite application after release (reported) and slowed trim to this and what was the gem of DCS has turned ugly and unflyable. ED seems in no hurry to help us get her back either. -
Rudder Trim Movement Takes Too Long in 2.5.5

Sorry to disagree Phil - imacken is right. The finer adjustment is too slow. The adjustment when released was perfect. Its a pain. -
[MISSING TRACK] Uncommanded full left rudder input

This bug has been reported by the testers and we are awaiting a patch in a future update thank you... -

[MISSING TRACK] Uncommanded full left rudder input
Hornetjock replied to Hornetjock's topic in Bugs and Problems
Just discovered what "Missing Track" means. I have done one for the rudder, but can't remember how to attach it. You can't just copy paste from C drive. Can someone help please? -
imacken...all the track would show is the rudder wagging back and forth...not the input and uncommanded result of full opposite deflection. All they have to do (and anyone else) is put up the Spit, go to out side view of the rudder and press Z or X and watch what happens. That's what I am trying to describe for those of us without pedals. Finch submitted one here...https://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=213020&d=1562065730

I see update 33184 does nothing to help with the rudder problem in the Spitfire (Full reverse application on release) for those of us without -or choose not to use - pedals. McPetterson is right. Annoying to say the least on an aircraft a lot of us enjoy and would fly daily if only we could. I put in a bug report and was advised it is being caused by a "Missing Track", whatever that may mean. Please just fix it!
-
Yes Please! Looking forward to it. They will be stunning.

Because it is specifically mentioned in the update 2.5.5 notes that the rpm in the 190 A8 is "can now be assigned to a controller..." I thought this was important info to act on as it might affect the performance we are struggling with. Apparently not...
-
I can't believe the performance could have been as poor as modeled. I'm no expert - only a moderately skilled sim pilot - but the transition to the Spit is a relief and revelation after an hour in the A8. While on the subject... the prop pitch was supposed to be able to be mapped to a controller in the latest update. I still can't get any changes to rpm on a switch or using the aircrafts throttle thumb switch.

[MISSING TRACK] Uncommanded full left rudder input
Hornetjock replied to Hornetjock's topic in Bugs and Problems
In the mean time, a pilot friend suggested to me that I set the aircraft up in ME to "turn point" at the field instead of on the apron or parked, to avoid the necessity for taxying until the problem is solved. I can still fly the mission and land (until braking is required to keep straight), when things go pear shaped. But at least you're down. -
[MISSING TRACK] Uncommanded full left rudder input

Can you please elaborate on that last bit? View file? Where is it and why did you delete it? If, as you claim, it fixes the Spitfires ground antics, why are we not all doing that? -
This video is excellent and shows that the A8 will loop nicely. Thanks. I will lose the centreline mount and go half fuel and keep trying. I hope my technique is as smooth as yours.
-
Thank you for the responses. Very instructive and thoughtful from obviously experienced fliers. I don't know which A8 Nineline was looping "fine", but it wasn't mine. Yes I take your point re taking an aircraft beyond its envelope - thats just common sense. But I still believe Max Immelmann's maneuver to reverse course quickly by rolling off the top of a loop is still a basic fighter action. It is also useful when strafing ground targets - saves time and keeps you in the same firing orientation, only reversed. I take your point that you are slower obviously at the top - not good against an opposing fighter, so you shouldn't be doing it in a dogfight, especially in the A8. I still believe its a basic maneuver that any fighter should be capable of, and the level of its difficulty speaks to flaws which should not be there. It just feels stally/squirrelly. In addition, I am finding the landings extremely hazardous, current success rate about 2 in 10. Smoking piles of scrap everywhere. But I will keep trying, and as you say - it is a WIP and maybe, just maybe...
-
You can't be serious. An aircraft that you cannot even loop confidently? It is a basic manoeovre in dogfighting. The A8 won't do it. Many have said so. But who am I to question the Guru. Adapt your tactics to the aircraft? So lets see how bad it is then don't loop or turn too hard. I know what Galland would have told you : "Lets give that aircraft to the British!"

[MISSING TRACK] Uncommanded full left rudder input
Hornetjock replied to Hornetjock's topic in Bugs and Problems
I can't tell you how happy we are for you Terry. Some of us, however are not using pedals (for whatever reason). and we still cannot taxy the Spit. But we are glad that you can. We await the fix. -
Yes I was very disappointed with her the very first time I flew. I thought it was my poor flying or engine management but a lot are asking questions now. We are experienced sim pilots and can smell a turkey.
-
There is a thread in Bugs and Problems re engine power. Read that for info. grafspee said the 190 A8 was a different areoplane to the one released in Beta. He can't loop it now either - where he could before the 2.5.5 release. Someone changed something for the worse.
-
Thank you grafspee...I thought I was losing it. Yes it is impossible to stunt or dogfight it at present - unlike the Spitfire which is a pure delight (or was, before the recent rudder disaster). I think ED needs to have a look at both, like right now.
-
I am still none the wiser. What/where is this kommadogerat and should it be on or off? In Spit and P 51 rpm is managed by the pilot according to requirements. Not so in the A8?
-
Yes...sounds like accelerated stalls. I have tried looping her aggressively and gently and she drops a wing every time. The only time she will go over is after a dive from altitude at speed. I don't really understand her engine management. Is RPM supposed to do anything? I have it mapped and even using the throttle button there is no effect in performance or in the needles. Is it an auto function?
-
I love all your graphs that I don't really understand...all I know is that she is always on the verge of a stall and can't be looped. Not helpful as a dogfighter. I seem to have her firewalled all the time - just waiting for a catastrophic engine failure. I'm sure she performed better for real in action. Supermarine developed the LF IX to counter her threat afterall.
-
Ha ha! ILMAO when I first saw it. I got caught on the runway by a rocket-firing Mustang and when I looked I had a semi circle of spare tails!
-
Yes thats how it works. Just have to map the two first buttons to triggers you can operate at the same time on the stick - maybe index finger and thumb, which is what I use. I guess the others will get used for bomb releases or jettisons later...
