I've only done the first two missions so far but I love the attention to detail and completeness. They aren't easy but that is to be expected given the subject matter complexity and density. Especially given the autopilots simplicity. A few times I had to pause to reread bits of the manual but that worked out fine.

In mission one he seemed to start an approach at the end of the mission but then turned into the opposite direction. I noticed he had two waypoints assigned on the F10 map. Once he flew them he landed fine. It got me wondering that maybe there is an issue where we don't fly close enough to some waypoints so they don't get marked as "passed" so when asked to land the AI feels a need to finish them? Probably not, but it is a guess and given we have to fly manually or with a primitive AP it is easy to miss a waypoint!

I was getting a small but constant pitch up moment in the aircraft. I assumed this also prevented the autopilot from working but I'm not 100% sure if that was the cause. Ah, just remembered, flight control trimming didn't work either. The issue was that I had accidentally had "Game Flight Mode" enabled. It would be good if this limitation was made more obvious. Such as giving the player a warning when entering the cockpit or fixing it so that having the setting enabled did not cause the problem.

I have been getting into FC 2 for the last several days after not having flown a combat sim for many many years. I flew FSX a fair bit but I haven't used that over the last 9 months since getting my light sports aircraft licence. I gotta say that I am having zero problems and been having fun setting up my own simple little training missions in the editor. I reckon I might have to look at a squad soon, especially around the +9.5 time zone areas :-) So, thanks for releasing FC 2, it is great to get quality even though we are a bit of a captive market. :-) Now, back to some more dogfights and landing at around 4 times the speed of my little Jabiru 160! :-) Steven.

Using the axis is great with a FF stick the way it takes the pressure off like in a real aircraft.

Having the game full screen but with Full Screen unchecked doesn't let me fix shimmering or jaggies. Make sure you have Full Screen checked. Most of the nvidia settings on my 275 card don't have any effect unless I do that.

I expect it is because Alacritypc's install folder is the processes current-folder instead of the black sharks folder. You can get alacritypc to launch a batch file that then launches black shark with something like . @START E:\Ka-50\bin\stable\Launcher.exe --console in it. The affinity settings won't work for black shark of course because we would only be setting the affinity of the black shark launcher, not the game engine. It is still useful though for launching things like track ir with it's affinity set to the last processor. Alternatively you could use alacritypc to launch the batch file that sets the DCS process affinity that is supplied elsewhere in these forums. Steven.

Well. When I first started playing I was targetting the RED guys. Whoops! I must be to used to playing "the other side" :-) When I have been accused I did shoot my own team so, no, no problem here!

I have just gone from a dual core AMD 6000+ to a quad core I7 and found setting Affinity to two cores on the AMD to be a good thing. I recon it really looked smoother and a few extra FPS. I set the I7 to use all 4 cores on BS and there was no FPS improvement over two cores but I did get slight, regular stuttering. It got pretty annoying, especially when looking out the side windows. I set the I7 to use only two cores and it was back to smooth as silk. Steven.

Yup. Awesome work. The only issue I have had is with the copy protection (sigh, as usual). I have been talking about it a lot to the guys at work so hopefully it will result in another sale or two. :-) Steven.

I deactivate Black Shark, upgraded my motherboard and CPU then tried to reactivate. It always fails and the web page at the starforce site does not load when trying to activate manually. If I try to remove the driver it says there is no driver installed. GRRRRR. Why buy the game just to suffer the bloody pain copy protection brings when we can download it for free and not have these issues. Steven.

Sim only but. Although all simulation type games attract elitists, we should not knock the guys playing arcade. It is a good way to get the feet wet, is still difficult and may be just what they need to help them discover that they want to jump in to sim mode. And it the don't ? Who cares, as long as they enjoy it. Unless of course we think there are too many people into these kinds of games and want to thin out the ranks. I am pretty sure ED don't think that :-) Steven.

G'day, Back in the dawn of time when Longbow 2 was the king of heli sims I used to be in a Longbow 2 Squadron. I imagine this will be occurring in Black Shark too? I haven't seen any mention of any but I guess it is early days yet :-) Once it finished downloading this morning, at 12:50 am I got it installed and had a quick flight. I think I am in love! :-) It is a pity I had to go to work :-( Steven.
