  1. I tried twice at night and I couldn't see them until I was at 8nm or just under. It may have been hidden for a short time by the hud symbology but I was looking around the hud to get it out of view so I'm sure I couldn't see them at 10nm. I haven't tried this patch during the day yet. I'm running 1440p, 2D with most settings maxed out on a RTX 4080.
  2. A lot of games wanted permission to the Program Files folders so they often needed admin to work properly. DCS writes to Saved Games so it shouldn't be an issue. I try not to run anything as admin anymore because it can cause issues. Modern games don't need to. Basically it is because secondary apps can have trouble interacting with a primary app if the primary app is running with elevated privileges. The secondary app doesn't have those privileges. Whether there is an issue or not depends on how they interact. The above can occur at seeming random after say, an app update. I've had instances where I had an app set to run as admin but then did an update and found that the run as admin setting was cleared. So I wouldn't find out until I tried playing the game. tl;dr; Simplistically, if one app is running as admin then all apps that might interact with it also have to. That is the only time I've had issues and that has been a problem since forever.
  3. I see people are pulling out single quotes instead of all of them from both Razbam and ED leading to a lot of people making stuff up all over again that both ED and Razbam say are not true. I guess it's entertainment?
  4. Hey @tanr, @wombat778 Yesterday I added support for being able to override the vJoy id in a Loupedeck profile button so now the number of buttons and axis is pretty much unlimited. It is a little cumbersome but there isn't much we can do about that. I've just created a GitHub repo. Wombat, let me know if you have any problems with it. If you want admin access I probably need your email address so you can DM me that if you like. I've never created a GitHub repo or published a Loupedeck plugin before so hopefully I got it right If either or both of you can try installing it and let me know if any issues that would be great (maybe a DM). The repo is at https://github.com/Thx1010saascas/GameControlPlugin I will put my DCS icons in another repo soon with a few step by step instructions. That should provide a mini tutorial though I've only used the most basic functions myself so it is pretty simple.
  5. Given what happened with the F15, I wouldn't give any indication of a date at all until everyone involved was actually 100% ready. If that's the case it could release in 1 second or 1 year, there is no way for us to tell. The devs will get flack either way but by not saying anything they reduce how hyped up many players get. I think this terrain uses new DCS features so it may be an ED issue holding it up. Who knows. But I'm sure if they actually knew they would say something.
  6. Yeah, I'm anxious for it but know it will be released when it meets the their quality bar. It isn't like devs think "the product is good to go, lets not release it for another month to make em wait". I swear it looks like some think that sometimes. The problem probably stems from teasers that by their nature don't show flaws or unfinished bits. People assume the whole product as good as the trailer. My project managers always knew exactly what they could and couldn't show to clients to leave the best impression.
  7. So that means maybe 4+ months away seeing we don't have the F15 yet!
  8. NineLine seems to be saying they don't know what the date is or means and as far as they are concerned it is a normal release. So it looks like there are some wires crossed between some of the Razbam guys. I dunno, it doesn't really matter because I was just trying to work it all out out of interest. I'm not going to hate on any of them because I'm sure they are doing their best and nobody is perfect. Including us... I think expectations could have been set better but it is what it is, What would really make me laugh is if the date was mis-entered in the video! That's it from me though. Now I'm back to just waiting and watching.
  9. It would be interesting to know the details. If the delay is accurate and it is the ED testing time then that implies a heck of a lot of detailed testing, or, they don't have people available to test it for a while. Maybe the Sinai and other modules were in the queue first. In witch case we are just unlucky. My read is that at least some Razbam staff were caught by surprise too so I would think that that means that level of delay is not normal. We are all reading between the lines and making assumptions so who knows. Only ED can tell us for sure.
  10. After a tiny bit of research... Seeing Razbam said that that release date was out of their control and apparently set by ED, I wonder why you blame them for it? I am assuming it is so ED can get their testers to approve it which is something they had mentioned before. If so it is still a huge length of time and a PITA for those of us that didn't factor that time in.
  11. It's the internet. A negative opinion is always "more correct" than a positive opinion! Well, it generates a lot more views that's for sure. Using "hard paper" means very little. Simmers often think an aircraft will always hit POH numbers even though POH numbers are under very specific conditions that rarely match real life. They are a guide. But a big part of being a good and safe pilot is knowing how to evaluate the POH given real life. It has been 5 years since I've flown and I know for a fact I can't remember many details about my aircrafts flight model now. I know if I like it or don't and that's about it. That is not the same as "accurate". Others have a better memory I'm sure, some will be even worse. So I'll take a grain of salt... That isn't to say that it is OK to be silly, like for an F16 to fly like a Cessna 152 of course. But so many complaints are splitting hairs that have zero or little effect on the use of the product in the sim. None of the above is to say the youtuber is wrong. It is saying that I'm not going to assume he is right.
  12. I assume you know that the patch notes says: Game Options. Game avionics mode removed So you want to go back to an earlier version. In your position I'd ask myself if it was worth it. DCS is always overwhelming to get into but if you just learn to focus on learning to fly and use the autopilots (if available) really well first then learning other systems becomes a lot easier. Certainly don't try to learn it all at once. That is a recipe for frustration!
  13. A guided demo of a product is *completely* different to a release to the masses. Many times I would have to instruct those demoing my early software on what to do and what not to do so the product looked more complete or worked better than it it would in general use. No company holds back stuff to annoy their customers.
  14. I was a dev and at work "imminent" for me meant in the next few minutes. "soon" was no more than two days. I was a business app dev though not a game dev. They all seem to have very different interpretations. As time goes on more words get stretched beyond recognition. The older we are the easier it is to see I guess.
  15. Seeing most of the stuff we buy is either completely or has a lot of parts made in China these days that doesn't mean anything. I could very well come from the same factory as the NP device. Or it could be complete bate and switch rubbish, like 99% of the stuff sold by Wish. I probably would have tried one of those after my original TrackIR broke if I had seen it in time because the NP asking price is crazy these days.

This is general to development, not about OnReTech in particular. There are many shades of grey to this topic so I'll keep it "simple". It depends on how much time it takes out of development. If this is anything like programming where the best productivity (in my and many others experience) is in a quiet place without distractions. Social media is the king of distractions. If we work on something unknown or hard (for us) then once distracted it can take some time for us to "get back into it" and that can easily lead to hours of "lost" time per day and that quickly adds up. Especially if you keep thinking about the interactions afterwards. If we are just placing objects based on a photo then it probably isn't an issue during those times, I'm talking about "working stuff out". Lets put it another way. A dev always loses productivity time if they have to interact with social media unless they do it after hours or they are employed to do it. There is a line for dev to follow, productivity vs chat. Some devs mainly want to get the project out so they can start making money to eat and pay bills, others love the customer interaction and include that as part of their payoff. I won't criticize the former because the later is more visible to us. Both are working hard to get the product to us.
  17. Thanks Wombat! I'm a recently retired programmer myself. I've been doing it since ~1989 I can create an account for you and upload it if you like. Adding to Github should be easy. But then isn't everything when you already know how... Based on my last workplace's local git repo it should be something like: 1. Create an account. 2. Create the project. 3. Create a local Git repo for your project and add all the solutions files (make sure there is no "bin" or "obj" folders being added to the repo). 4. Set the local projects remote Git address to the repo created in step 2. 5. Commit the files (this adds the changes to the Git repo) and push (which uploads the files to the remote repo).
  18. The plugin works great but I have one request. We can have 7 pages of buttons/encoders so a fantastic change would be allow setting the VJoy number in the Option field. This way we can have up to 47 encoders not to mention more buttons than we'd ever need!
  19. Hey Wombat, Any chance you can put the code for this on Github? I'm getting my Loupedeck today and I may, or may not, want to do some code for it myself for DCS and other sims. It would be great if we could reuse each others work
  20. This video cycles through White Hot, Black Hot and CCTV for December and June. The temperature and other settings are exactly the same. Only the month changed. In December the vehicle had a layer of snow over it even though it wasn't in snowing conditions. The temperature was 15C with clear skys and from what I read, snow requires temps less than 3C. It seems weird how a hot vehicle can go almost invisible in IR based only on a change of month. But if this is realistic it should go into a FAQ somewhere. 21. Here is what it looks like in the current open beta. The video cycles through White Hot, Black Hot and CCTV for December and June. Only the month changed. 22. That's interesting because I tried them all before posting. But it works so I obviously did something else wrong too when trying the vanilla 135! In the real world I'm sure it indicates it supports both. But maybe not in the sim... Or the site I read was mistaken. Either way, fixed. Thanks.
  23. Since the ARC-210 I haven't been able to contact a tanker (KC-135 MPRS) in the hog. The F18 is fine and I seem to be able to contact every thing else. The \ key only brings up the interphone. The MIC key binds for the ARC-210, ARC-186 and ARC-164 don't help. Clearly I'm missing something but can't see it for the life of me! Hints?!

  25. Similar to rob10, if you use VAICOMPRO then you have to press it twice, sometimes. After it comes up it will work for a while with a single keypress. As far as only happening with the old non-OS version. I have the latest OS version and it did it regularly so I'm not so sure about that. Other than that I've had no issues.
