  1. Does Windows 7 give us back one of the key advantages that was lost in Vista... Horizontal and Vertical spanning capability for use with multiple monitors? XP can do it, and Vista did away with it. Can Win 7 do it?
  2. It has been quite a while for me too. Trigger, at each of those measurement points I see two ways to interpret how you are measuring... from one leg to the other (ie. across the transformer secondary coil, across the bridge rectifier, and the tb7 + to -), or from one leg to ground. Assuming you are doing the first (one leg to the other), then the two right-most measurements on your drawing should be the same if the fuse is intact. They are electrically the same point if you have continuity through the fuse. IIRC, what Oakes is showing about the output waveform is true for his drawing, since there are no capacitors on his circuit's output side. I believe the capacitors in Trigger's circuit would cause the output to level out. I'll ponder on this more. In the meantime, someone who stays (pardon the pun) current on electronics may chime in with a more authoritative answer.
  3. Trigger, can you post a schematic of the circuit and indicate what measurements you are getting at various points (VAC, VDC, etc.)?
  4. Yes. :smartass: (note: you asked an "or" question). My sympathies about the software developers (unless they are simulator/game developers, that is!) ;)
  5. It's starting to look like we should replace the United Nations with these forums! :)
  6. You're welcome! And I assure you, your english is much better than my spanish (which is virtually non-existent). If you swap out the filter on your Wiimote, I'd like to hear how that works out for you. If you could take some pictures of the process, that would be even better! Good luck!
  7. The problem is that the Wiimote is optimized for 950nm wavelength IR LEDs, and the TrackClip Pro uses a different wavelength for its LEDS (Shorter, I believe). The bluetooth stack is not your issue, based upon what you wrote. If you wish to continue using a Wiimote with FreeTrack, you will need to build, or buy a point model that uses 950nm IR LEDs. You will find plenty of information about that over in the FreeTrack forums. I believe you will also find at least one guy that sells ball caps with built-in (3 point model) IR LEDs for a not-unreasonable cost (However, IIRC he's in North America, so shipping to Madrid may not be desirable for you. Fortunately, the FreeTrack site and forums have plenty of information about how to build your own 3 point model. If you wish instead to keep using your TrackClip Pro point model, then you'll want to buy a TrackIR that can "see it" well. That will cost you more, but you get the benefit of ditching the Bluetooth (and the Wiimote startup/synchronizing routine) by having a much easier/convenient USB device. Or... go the typical FreeTrack route of adapting a webcam, which unfortunately will typically have *much* lower framerates (FPS) and will impose a greater processing load upon your CPU (and may still be hit or miss on "seeing" your TrackClip Pro well).
  8. Rocker50, if I understand you correctly, you were able to get the commands from his X52 profile, but they did not drop into assignments to various buttons, etc. That is what I would expect to happen. You'll need to go to each button, hat, etc. in your profile and assign the desired commands... but at least you won't have to type in the keyboard key combos needed to accomplish those functions. You will just select from the list of commands that are available (the assignment list). I'm unaware of any importing tools.
  9. I'd be a lot more inclined to buy it if the screenshots had the english language cockpit labels, as *for*me* that would be a significant improvement over the existing .pdf manual that we already have. The added material will certainly be nice, but is considerably less compelling to me if I have to do the mental/visual gymnastics of matching up cyrillic text pictures with the english text cockpit labels. Having reached an age where I'm wearing trifocals, having to make additional looks back and forth (with the attendant changes in focal length) becomes a real consideration on purchasing decisions.
  10. Ram, your X52 Pro profile can be of use to folks using other Saitek controllers in that they can use the commands you have entered in to your SST profile. They change the controller type selected, and then assign the commands as they wish to their available buttons, hats, etc. It can save someone a lot of typing!
  11. Superb! That is reassuring information, as I was contemplating TH2Go as a future purchase. I also was thinking that it would probably be a significant hit on performance. I may even move that up on higher on my list... :)
  12. Well for the AGP slot, Tom's Hardware rated the ATI Radeon HD 3850 the most powerful available in Dec. '08. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-geforce-graphics,2086-6.html http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-geforce-graphics,2086-7.html
  13. Ugh... I'm sorry to hear that happened, AlphaInfinity. I'm running Vista 64 as well, and it worked great for me. I've also used it on some XP 32 machines to equally good results. I hope they get that bug straightened out, whatever it is. In the meantime, consider the recommendation withdrawn.
  14. When you are looking at your display, the outer non-imaging case portion is the bezel. It may actually be holding the LCD panel in place, or it may simply be decorative and/or holding the controls and keeping your fingers out of places that they shouldn't go. ;)
  15. {Edit: Ignore the following recommendation. (See AlphaInfinity post that follows) } I highly recommend Defraggler. It's a freebie, gives you a graphic display, and you can limit the defrag to selected files if you wish. There is also an option setting for moving the large files to the outer sectors for improved performance. www.defraggler.com
  16. You're welcome! The upcoming patch is going to include some additional options for trimming with non-forcefeedback sticks, so there may be something in there that you will like better.
  17. I'd recommend reading post #s 21 & 22 in this thread.

  19. There is also Starshatter: The Gathering Storm. IIRC, you can select newtonian physics, or go with more arcade-ish settings. You have fighters and capital ships both. The fighters can also go down into the planetary atmospheres. http://www.starshatter.com/
  20. No more Command & Conquer gaming for you! :smartass:
  21. The left one (ScreenShot_019.jpg)
  22. The information at the link in the OP sure strikes me as descriptive of controls that actually work... I really don't see any other way to interpret it.
  23. Crank the smoothing settings (slider bars) up in the FreeTrack controls. Remember, there are two places in there to look at / tweak... One controls the global settings, and the other is specific to the profile you are adjusting / using. Keep experimenting until you get what you like.
  24. I'd look at it a little differently. It's nice that they are telling us as much as they are before hand! There is an old adage, "Under promise, and over deliver". Basically, avoid setting expectations high, and then fail to produce results that are as good. Software coding is not a trivial matter, especially when the program has to run well on numerous different computer hardware platforms and multiple operating systems. Addressing one problem in code can create unexpected results elsewhere. So, the changes need to be tested to see if they can be left in, and hold up to the various ways people use the software, on the various hardware platforms running under various operating systems. It's far more important that they do it right, than that they do it fast and tell us all about it before hand. ;) Some things are worth waiting for, and just waiting to see how they turn out.
  25. I typically see 95 to 100 fps on mine. Vista 64, using the BlueSoleil stack. The technical problem that I have is I need to be using an LED point model with IR LEDs that better match the Wiimote's camera (as in 950nm wavelength). I currently use the TrackClip pro, and it is not a great match (wavelength-wise) with the Wiimote. The other (non-technical) problem is that starting up the Bluetooth and the Wiimote every freakin' time gets to be old before very long. There is a lot to be said for having a USB connected device like the TrackIR, convenience-wise. Unfortunately, the typical USB connected webcam approach (as typically used by FreeTrack users) doesn't have as nice a frames per second, and puts a lot more processing load upon your CPU. I've posted in another thread on this at more length. You may find it to be food for thought before spending money on a Wiimote: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=37979 As I posted there, I will probably make the switch over to TrackIR. I could make my FT/Wiimote setup work better by switching to a 950nm IR LED based point model, but that still leaves the Bluetooth & Wiimote startup routine (and batteries).
