  1. A lot of you have now bought this map. Please give advice if you have laminated. Was my advice adequate or have you discovered a better technique? For multiplayer communities this map is a must have!
  2. Please be assured that we have a marketing plan in place - Youtube videos, Banner ads on websites, advertising and reviews in magazines etc etc - worldwide from South Korea to Columbia. However, the timing of this has to be carefully planned. Too early and we will be accused of promoting vapourware, too late and we will miss opportunities.
  3. I believe it will be in July, but an announcement will be made when date is confirmed. In the USA, it will also include Lock On and will be titled "LockOn Platinum"
  4. The Fighter Collection is the publisher of Flaming Cliffs 2, not Ubisoft, so does not have Game Launcher. FC2 is available for Amazon.co.uk to buy so I guess will take a few weeks for their logistics to kick in.
  5. Agreed - Fighter Combat is the bible, not just for Sim pilots, but real pilots!
  6. Has any progress been made on making a typical small Afghan village with walled compounds (see http://www.metavr.com/downloads/MetaVR_AfghanistanTerrain-Brochure.pdf), with levels of destruction?
  7. It should be on the web shop this week
  8. Thanks for the offer, but at the moment I am interested in what conclusions you all arrive at. Situations are:- 1. Own helos have own air cover against OPFOR. 2. Own helos do not have air cover against OPFOR.
  9. I agree and accept what you say. However, I am more interested in ACM situations, i.e not BVR. In the UK, there is the RN THURSDAY exercise where often Hawks are sent to attack helos flying over land.
  10. The manual is Black and White.
  11. I would be very interested in the experiences of multiplayer squadrons that have both Black Shark and FC2 in multiplayer. Current military doctrine states that attack helos do not operate unless they have air superiority cover from their own side. This is theory, and the concept of helos operating without air superiority cover has never been tested in reality, and only on a few occasions in Red Flag exercises. It has also not been tested in military simualtions as it is only now that military legacy sims are being linked together. We have an opportunity to explore, and maybe re-write military doctrine before the military can do so.
  12. I am pleased to say that this time round, the FC2 flight manual is now available in the US from Amazon.com It would seem once we set up the logistics (with the Black Shark Manual), that subsequent book registration is much quicker.
  13. Alert for those in Australia/New Zealand. We are finalising a deal with Mindscape Australia whereby they will be selling LockOn+FC2(patched etc) in a box. I can not confirm yet the release date. I suspect maybe August/September.
  14. Unfortunately we have to charge shipping costs.
  15. Just discovered, we made an error on postage price. It is now a bit reduced.
  16. We are hoping Amazon.com will take it. But it takes time to get registered on their system.
  17. It is just FC2. You have to buy or already have LOMAC.
  18. Flaming Cliff 2 boxed version and the Flight Manual are now available for purchase. http://www.kengray.co.uk/lockonbuy.htm
  19. Flaming Cliff 2 boxed version and the Flight Manual are now available for purchase. http://www.kengray.co.uk/lockonbuy.htm
  20. The total size is 1050mm x 1400mm
  21. Valid point - I will update TFC website. The cover picture is actually on the map, in the Black Sea area.
  22. Now for sale http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=55010

  24. The tactical map is finally ready for purchase from Monday 14th June 2010! The scale is 1:500,000 The total size is 1050mm x 1400mm, and is folded to the size of 210mm x 280mm. The cost is £15.99 and initially will be available from http://fighter-collection.com/pages/tfc/flight%20simulation/index.php Hopefully it will soon become available from specialist sites such as Amazon, Simware and GoGamer etc. Postage and packing will be extra. Shipped from the UK, we estimate the average costs to be: Europe £3.77 Rest of the World £5.71 Course bearings: The Geo Grid (which should be taken as a reference to measure courses with plotter or protractor) will give “True” headings, and the average “magnetic declination” for this region is -5 degrees, meaning that you have to subtract 5 degrees from the measured heading on the map in order to get the magnetic heading for your flight. For those who require greater accuracy, the attachment on the DCS post shows the magnetic declination across the whole map. Of course a map is useless unless you can draw on it and then erase! I have tested 2 techniques:- Apply thin self adhesive film (i.e. http://www.paperstone.co.uk/cat_1-36_Self-Adhesive-Film.aspx) Being lazy, I tried to cover the map in one pass. DO NOT DO THIS. The map crinkles as you apply the film and ends up as a mess! The best strategy is to apply small areas (say 210mm x 280mm or 420mm x 560mm) with a slight overlap. It is a 2 person operation, one to hold the map and the other to apply the film (I used the edge of a ruler). I strongly advise that you practice on any large piece of paper before laminating your tactical map so that you find a correct procedure. The second option is to apply something like map seal (http://www.dailyhiker.com/gear/review-aquaseal-map-seal/) The instructions are that you should allow it to cure for 72 hours. They are correct. I tried writing on it after 24 hours with unfortunate results! The advantage of map seal is that it is very easy to apply. However I am not so certain about the durability of frequent writing and erasing on the surface. I tested on the surfaces with:- • Non permanent markers • Wet eraze chalk markers • Lumocolour Whiteboard markers • Pilot markers (erase by rubbing) All worked well on the film. Pilot markers seem to work best on map seal. To erase I used whiteboard cleaner or a damp cloth for markers that were water soluble. Personally I will continue to use film, which although takes time and care by 2 persons to apply, gives a foolproof long lasting result to write on and erase. For those squadrons that have a standard bullseye for missions, you can of course mark up the bullseye before applying film or map seal. Last but not least, greatest thanks go to Igormk who spent many dedicated months in producing this map. For those with access to large scale printers, the map will be available as a free download from the DCS download section.
  25. I produced the video, I apologise, it is crap. My excuse is that I had to produce a QAD (Quick And Dirty) for military customers to explain concepts. When we have time, we will get a better version from GA.
