In the real world to spot a ground target depends on many variables - background (desert v fields/woods- moving/still, position against vertical objects, cammo or not, speed of aircraft, etc. An input from an experienced recon pilot "for the average pilot (who has been trained in recognition – sliding scale here also) spotting a potential target would be in the region of 1000-1500ft slant range. To identify type you would probably have to overfly or receive info from other sources (JTAC etc) " Also remember, the resolution of a monitor is such that it is similar to a person who is seriously visually impaired when looking at the real world. The best miliary displays have a visual acuity of 20/40.

FC2 DVD retail version has gone into manufacturing. It will take 2 weeks, but to be safe I have declared a street date for retail shops in Europe of 25th June. You will be able to buy earlier from http://fighter-collection.com/pages/tfc/flight%20simulation/index.php I will make a post when it and the manual is in stock and can be purchased.
-
For shipping cost reasons (i.e. about $60 to USA for an oversize tube), the map will be 1:500,000 and folded to just under A4 size.

Please be patient, the master artwork has been sent to the printers. I hope to have the maps available in 2 weeks. -
At ITEC we also used these controls. I will post more info soon. http://www.rcsimulations.com/cadet.html There is no doubt that having a collective with a reasonable length of travel improves control considerably.

It is currently being manufactured, then it has to be shipped to warehouse etc etc

Track recording is still flawed

Please explain exactly what the problem is with playback? I assume you were a client? -
Please see http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=50869&highlight=tactical+map

I agree - so would I. However option 3 would cost for shipping to the USA about $60 due to the fact that it would be a non-standard postal tube. Check for yourself DHL/Fedex shipping costs from UK to USA of a tube of length 120 cms.

No. It covers the area of Black Shark and Flaming Cliffs2 -
Because of very high shipping costs, we plan to print and supply it folded. I will keep informed as to when it is printed and available. ED are currently cross-checking all co-ordinates.

Tactics for combat against AI rotary threats
JimMack replied to Fish's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Military helo pilots are obviously trained in tactics to employ against fixed wing fast and slow movers. This is in the main thereotical. Practical experience seems to be limited to the Falklands war, and in a couple of Red Flag exercises where on 2 occasions Hinds took out F-16s (google). What is interesting is that players of FC2 and Black Shark will be in a position to experiment for themselves, and maybe re-write the military manuals, as this situation is not often practiced with military simulators, if at all! This could be a similar situation to Flanker players in the Su27 who discovered that if they could survive BVR against F-15s, that after the merge because they had an HMS and off-boresight missiles, they had the edge. This was discovered in a consumer simulator, and was later confirmed in real life when an F-16 squadron visited a Mig 29 squadron after the reunification of Germany (google and Air Forces Monthly). Hence the introduction of HMS and AIM-9X into US inventory, about 20 years after Russia. -
I think in the USA that Amazon.com will be selling LOP. Whether they will ship to addresses outside of the USA will not be known until they start selling. Your alternative would be to buy Lock On and FC2 from Simware, as I understand that they will be putting a pack together (Do not buy the current pack as it is Lock On and FC1!)

As I posted a while back in another thread, at LLTM I saw an experienced Lynx/Apache pilot fly Black Shark against an A-10A, guns only. Very interesting to see the helo tactics used (hills, ridges, valleys). It took quite a bit of time before the A-10 finally got him, and even then the A-10 had taken quite a few hits.

Nate - the package will only be available in North America due to Ubisoft only licensing Lock On in North America to TFC. For the rest of the world, you will have to have a copy of Lock On, and then buy Flaming Cliffs 2, as either as a download or as a boxed retail product.
-
The DVD boxed version will be distributed in North America. We are currently in discussions with US distributors, and therefore can not yet give any dates. Their call, not ours.

Actually, in Helmand province in Afghanistan around the river, there are a lot of trees. Insurgents with HMG and/or RPGs hide there and you can not see them, but they can see you and shoot at you. In Summer, it is even worse. The surrounding crops are over 3m high, and they can see you, but from a helo you can not see them. For troops trying to clear a field, it is a nightmare, with visibilty of 1m. For an understanding of the problem for a helo pilot, and tactics to use, suggest you read Ed Macy's 2 books of his experience as an Apache pilot in Helmand province.

When the FC2 patch is final, we will then have a master DVD disc to go into manufaturing. Allow 4 weeks for manufacturing/distribution etc.

Need help getting FC2 working in Eyefinity @ 5760X1200
JimMack replied to XysteR's topic in Lock On: Flaming Cliffs 1 & 2
Loz - can you look down to the bottom of the cockpit OK with your configuration? My problem with Matrox is I can not see further down than the top of the joystick. -
Anyone know if there are plans to make this mod compatible with Black Shark and FC2?

Hi Paco I agree that simulating Joint Fires from a Brigade level is very complex. We can handle company level, typical in Afghanistan. I'll prepare a video and upload in downloads to http://www.thebattlesim.com later this week.
