  1. Alert: If you have set meteo wind, you need to create mission with take-off from runway. If ramp, you will not have time to start up before Ka50 slides off the deck. Known bug.
  2. Yes, EtherealN is absolutely correct. In the USA, retailers and chains will not accept a PC game title that is more than $39.99, unless it is a major franchise, such as COD etc. Retail is still important.
  3. This is a known bug. Ensure in the ME you set player Ka50 to start from runway. You will still draft, but this can be corrected with use of the collective. Same applies for landing, in that you should not shut down. I have tested in extreme conditions of 15 m/s, and you do have to be quick with your controls to stop the drift. Landing on a Frigate with say wind 10 degrees off the bow makes an interesting challenge!
  4. This is a preliminary status report on player Ka50 take off and landing with meteo wind conditions set in the ME. The bug exists that there is insufficient resistance between tyres and deck, and the Ka50 will gently slide off the deck, due to the prevailing wind. For mission designers, ensure that player is set to take off from runway. If you set take off from ramp, the Ka50 will slide off the deck before the start up process is completed. Also, try and set realistic conditions, ie, the ship is sailing into the wind. For players, you can control this situation and make smooth take offs and landings if you are skilled enough. Once the mission starts, use collective/rudder to offset the impact of the meteo wind and stop any sliding off the deck. Similarly for landing. If you have a meteo wind of say 10 m/s at 350 degrees, you land with the ka50 flying in a hover with this condition. This capability of take off and landing on moving ships was added at the last moment to allow mission creators to simulate the operations in Libya where UK Apaches and French Tigers were launched from ships. I think this will be a fun feature for the more skilled pilots to create some interesting videos in extreme conditions. Remember the "Landing on Trains" video?
  5. I agree - at the Paris show in October there was strong support from Check 6 - great to meet them all.
  6. Whilst we regret no LLTM 2012, maybe we can start thinking about 2013. TFC attended a sim show at Le Bourget Museum, Paris. It had all the support needs, food, area, no windows to mess up TrakIR(!), cheap accomodation nearby etc. However, is Paris too far for the traditional attendees who in the main are from Germany and Holland? I think the Check 6 team would be happy!
  7. Attached is a track taking off and landing on a moving ship. It is a QAD (Quick and Dirty) flown quickly with keyboard control. Over the weekend I will create a track of operating in extreme meteo wind conditions. A good test for more advanced helo pilots! Ship takeoff land.trk
  8. It is a bug. If you start with "Runway" option then you have time by using collective to stabilise in one position. The same is true if you have meteo wind is present in the ME.
  9. For Multiplayer, there is a way to create a human JTAC. In the ME, in the area where you want the JTAC to be, place a structure (I usually use a "Block" as it represents a FOB, typical of Afghanistan). If in multiplayer, the person who is the JTAC, choose spectator. Then find the structure with F12. Then CTRL F11, and you get a camera view from the structure, i.e. the view of the JTAC. You know the co-ords of your own position, and from the map, can estimate co-ords of target. As I am sure you all know, the basic and key skill of a JTAC is to talk in the pilot to get an accurate ID of the target. This you can do with the above methodology. In real life, you do not always have the luxury of a laser designator, usually because the batteries have run out!
  10. Suggest that when you receive the box, just create your own account with the serial number on the back of the quickstart manual. You will have less activations than a new product, but that should not be a problem.
  11. Would be great if we had VoxATC for DCS - see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTvd4wITsuo&feature=player_detailpage As you see, Bob, as well being a flight sim enthusiast is a real life fixed/rotary wing pilot.
  12. I think more info can be found at http://www.rcsimulations.com/
  13. This may be of interest
  14. I have had questions from modders who have created FSX add-ons to the effect:- Does anyone know how to convert FSX models to lockon or 3ds max? So an answer to this question would be useful.

At the show - A10C on the Thrustmaster stand - TFC and the Virtual Red Arrows displaying on a 180 degree dome.
  17. I assume that these mods are a replacement for existing structures, and are not additions to the structure list in the ME?
  18. I believe it may be in Best Buy in mid October, but please wait for an official announcement, or ask at your local shop.

  20. Has anyone tried using BC Net that is a free download from http://www.historicalsociety.com ?
  21. Look at this carefully........... it is brilliant, and a true example of British Humour!! The British government has scrapped the Harrier fleet, and on their farewell formation flypast over the houses of Parliament they gave the government a message. Lean back a bit from your computer monitor and squint. Now I do not know if this is genuine, or a photoshop job (probably the latter)!
  22. Excellent find!
  23. Congratulations - an excellent implementation, particularly for military training.
  24. BaD CRC That is a brilliant piece of engineering. How long did it take to do?
