  1. When the enemy is on your 6, it is advisable not to reverse your turn. For a spilt second you are stationary in his sights.
  2. Yes - I agree, the K14 gunsight improves the probability of a hit. But remember, what is important is not where the aircraft will be when you fire the guns, but where it will actually be when the bullets arrive. To Leafer, in a turn, or flying straight and level, an aircraft is predictable as to its flightpath. If you feed in a bit of excessive rudder, your true course is not predictable, particularly if you are changing the amount of rudder the whole time. In the UK, we have many documentaries about the Battle of Britain. A regular commentator is a survivor, Bob Doe. He often says that he survived because the whole time he was feeding in different rudder inputs, so his course was not predictable. Of course, when attacking, he would clean up, keep ball central, so he could accurately point his aircraft in the right direction. As a general point. looking at the videos, you need to get closer before opening fire. I know it is not easy! If you have Tacview - fly with accurate inputs (ie ball central) then fly with changing rudder inputs and I think you will see what I mean.
  3. Remember, if you have an enemy on your 6, feed in some rudder, so you are skidding/sliding. It may not fool an AI enemy, but in multiplayer, it will probably fool a human,
  4. Remember - lowering flaps by 1 notch also increases turn rate, but watch out for speed bleed-off.
  5. Yes, see - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFYRKKffkF8 As in real life, the pilot can not hear it, only external watchers. It happens at a narrow band of speed and angle of attack.
  6. I agree, there will be 2 types, though I think FC-level aircraft may also come with clickable cockpits. How will a potential customer know which type? When the third party developer publishes a title, in the press release they will make it clear as to the level of detail, features etc. I am sure the developer will also create and pre-release promo videos so one can see what you will be getting.
  7. Great post. Our real P51 pilot agrees with you all have said - but remember - we are still tuning the flight model before final release and hope to address these problems. Both P51 and T6 can do a snap roll but should be avoided at all costs, as they are unpredictable. In fact a T6 pilot in the UK was killed not so long ago as he ended up in a vertical dive after an inadvertent snap roll. Only exception is that he agrees that a wheelie landing in a T6 is not a good idea, but is relatively easy in a P51.
  8. Please read the flight manual in the DOC folder. Here you will find a stall speed graph for different speeds and G forces. Also the formula to re-calculate for different gross weights. There is also a lot more interesting information in the flight manual.
  9. Thanks!
  10. For those with a D-Box motion platform. Now working with FC2, A10C, Black Shark and P51D. Update your D-Box drivers.
  11. The original Lock On installed on your HD will be a requirement for FC3.
  12. 10 people x 2 years from scratch
  13. To judge when you are in a 3 pointer attitude, look at the horn just to the left of the cockpit view. The technique I use is to look when the horizon is at the halfway point on the horn, then I feel that I am at the correct attitude for touch down (it of course depends on how you have adjusted your height in the cockpit etc).

Happy birthday in the granite city!
  15. I have never seen in real life a P51 air display with smoke.
  16. See Works with DCS titles as well
  17. Nice flying - you have got the hang of flying a high torque WW2 bird!
  18. I agree - in testing I always created clouds in the ME so I had a point of reference for take off.
  19. There is no doubt that you need to experiment with axis curves until you get something that you feel comfortable with.
  20. To be honest, that was a FUBAR. A misunderstang between development and sales/marketing. Hopefully the loophole has been closed and it will not happen again!
  21. If it is of interest, my experience of Software Publishing started in 1982, when I set up Mirrorsoft. After the collapse of Mirrorsoft, when Maxwell went for a swim in the sea, I worked as the European CEO for Mindscape, SSI, Software Toolworks, The Learning Company and Mattel. The rule of thumb was to publish a title that gave 40 hours of satisfaction to the customer. It would be launched at full price, then after 6 months would be moved to mid price, then after 12 months moved into budget (called "value" in the USA), then would be de-listed. However, the flight sim market for TFC/ED seems to break the traditional "rule of thumb". It probably takes 40 hours to learn how to fly the aircraft! From feedback from the forums, many of our users still play after hundreds of hours. Our pricing is equivalent to taking your girlfriend/partner to a restaurant for 2 hours of pleasure! That is why FC2, Black Shark and A10C still hold their full price, both in retail and as downloads, years after their launch. Yes, we do have short term promotions at a reduced price, but our experience is that the products are not price sensitive, and have a very long shelf life. Before TFC/ED went into self publishing, we used Ubisoft as the publisher for Lock On (LOMAC). We are still getting royalty revenue for a title that was published in November 2003.
  22. From RL Pilot, there are still some corrections needed. That is why we are still in beta!
  23. In German retail, no product is allowed to be sold with the Swastika. It would not get a USK rating.

  25. Yes - provided you contact one of the management, and empty your pockets of loose change, keys etc!
