  1. Hey Andre, I really enjoy the SimShaker in DCS with my bass shaker setup, but I have a small problem: For the A-10C when I squeeze off a series of long continuous bursts from the main gun, the shaking stops part way thru, even if I am still firing. Or sometimes it won't start again for the second burst. Seems worse at high volume, but will still happen even at low. Any ideas?
  2. I just ordered an SCG Premium grip with adapter kit for Gladiator II (non-Pro). https://vkbcontrollers.com/?product=gladiator-upgrade-kit-lite-w-mcg-bundle-2 It replaces the German KG-12 grip that came on my Gladiator II (non-Pro). Meant for space sims, but really all I need is the extra hats. Looking forward to the dual-stage trigger also. And hopefully a dedicated PTT that doesn't cut out randomly if I don't press it perfectly. I was shift/sharing my bomb-release button with PTT - sometimes with tragic results ;-)
  3. Got it, thanks! Just FYI: ONLY that particular email was sitting in my spam folder, despite the 3 previous emails from your company NOT being treated that way by my ISP. Not your problem, obviously, but just thought you might want to know anyway. Cheers.
  4. Thanks Andre. I placed an order, and await my activation key.
  5. OK, I updated my previous post above with the setup screenshots. Also, I use a Rift for VR, but prefer NOT to use the Rift headphones (they are removed). Instead I use my existing external 5.1 speaker system for sound. Personal preference and also for convenience when not using VR. This clarification is for anyone wondering why I have 2 sound cards plus a Rift, when I could have just used the Rift headphones and converted my integrated sound card to shaker duty.
  6. Hi Andre, Will do. Firstly, I have a small bug report for you: Verbose Logging being enabled caused my Sound Module Demo to crash, freeze, or output random noise to my shaker. I had zero problems for about 5 hours prior to turning it on, and then struggled to figure out why I started having those issues. Re-installed, etc. Anyway, it works fine again with it turned off again now.
  7. Another (free) method of mixing game sound with SimShaker output going to bass shakers. i.e. a less CPU-burdening (and less customizable) alternative to VoiceMeeter. Assumes you have Realtek audio (includes Stereo Mix): 1) Windows Recording devices > Stereo Mix > Listen > Playback thru *your shaker card here* 2) Check "Listen to this device" 3) Adjust relative volume ratio under "Levels" 4) Further adjust volume of each card as desired in Windows. 5) Adjust your external hardware sound control if so equipped (you can reduce external hardware volume control setting while increasing Windows volume setting in order to boost shaker input for a given sound level). NOTE: You may also need to temporarily disable Realtek High Definition Audio under Sound Video and Game Controllers within Device Manager in order to get the secondary sound card (shaker) to work. I am not certain that was actually my problem but I did that. My primary sound is an integrated Realtek "5.1 Analog Speakers", and the secondary (shaker) is an external "Analog USB Sound Card" (Vantec USB External 7.1 Audio Adapter - plugged into a 2.1 amp). This card has a software mixer app which is handy. Here are the Windows setup screenshots as requested by =Andre=:
  8. Hi Biggs, If I can do it, YOU can do it :-) I recommend joining a few DCS-related Discord groups in addition to this great forum. Sometimes it is very nice to be able to speak to others in real-time when getting things set up, be it new hardware or even just a new module. When it comes to tech challenges, we are all in the same boat... err aircraft I mean. Message me if you wish to join my Discord. Noobs are welcome too. I'll give you a hand anytime.
  9. I was not aware that anybody said they could not. Why do you ask that?
  10. Following up on my old post above: I eventually bought some Nyogel 767A dampening grease and that really works very well. Problem solved. A small 10g tube is plenty. Just do it.
  11. If being late was the real reason, then logically they should delete ALL of their announcement videos....
  12. Thank you Good Sir, but that is exactly the problem. Why should we believe anything they say today, if they just delete the promises made in the past? Along with the interactive customer discussions around them.... If they really wanted to convey updated information and their reasons, then they should have simply edited the video description text to add a brief explanation, or even just pinned a comment to the top. You know, like every other YT content creator does. Two minutes and done. It would have helped to build confidence and trust, in my opinion. Instead.... well, here we are now, wondering what the heck is going on.
  13. FYI: ED and Wags each quietly removed the original 2018 MAC announcement videos from YouTube sometime in the last couple weeks. You know, the ones whose description promised it would be a DCS-COMPATIBLE MODULE (NOT standalone), with discount for FC3 owners, and released in FALL 2018. I wonder why they would remove such videos at all, never-mind why now? Anybody know?
  14. I just got a brand new TWCS, and wasn't too thrilled with the motion / feel of it. So I tried the felt mod on both rails, but it actually made the stiction worse in my case. It felt good if I moved it fast, but at slow speed it would bounce/stick/bounce/stick a hundred times per inch. Curiously, when I removed the felt it was a bit better than before I tried the felt. I think when I cleaned off the grease it actually made it better?
  15. Has anyone managed to get this new dedicated server to run on a PC with Steam version of DCS? Last time I tried, it just ignored the server/norender commands and just launched DCS in normal game mode. Think I read that this also happened to others. I would like to experiment / learn about it, but I don't have the room/interest to install a completely redundant second non-Steam copy of DCS at this time.
  16. @Me? I really can't help how you feel about my opinion, but that just seems like unnecessarily divisive language. Was not trying to offend. I assume that MAC will still be a nice quality product in any case. IMO, DCS really does need a simplified entry-level tool like that in order to expand from being stuck in a niche market of advanced users. More customers is good for ED and good for me, mainly because I do enjoy DCS online with other people. Which is why I was originally so enthusiastic when they announced it last year, as a DCS module that "is fully compatible with DCS World online! There are no limits to content.". Well, like you said, things can change. And of course, it's not my decision. But if the new software is not to be connected with DCS now, then the communities will not really be connected either. DCS online might even get smaller, and our little Discord group would definitely get split. It would be much better if they were connected, since it's not like they are two totally different games (or competitors). And yes, that is a major change from the original concept announced last year, which is very disappointing to me. Just sharing my view, not trying to impose it on anyone else, or dismiss their opinions.
  17. Thanks for that podcast link. So standalone now, really? Well, then RIP my planned purchases. And no way I could recommend MAC to any friends or family now. If I did, it would sound something like this: "Hey there is this awesome flight sim called DCS World, that me and a bunch of friends on our Discord regularly fly together online, make custom missions, teach each other, recommend modules, and have a blast. I know you're not too sure, but come on give it a try! BUT: as a noob using the intended intro software (MAC), YOU need to just go off to fly it all by yourself, and I can't even help you learn it because I ain't gonna buy it only for that. AND if you ever get to the point where you now want to step up to DCS and actually fly WITH the rest of us, then guess what? You have to start over, and re-purchase the "DCS version" of those same planes you just learned. Your previous investment is now useless." Way better off just recommending the existing FC3 planes to them instead, so at least we can fly together while learning and afterwards. ED: Why not leave it up to individual server admins to decide if MAC planes can be included or not? I don't see how this new flip-flop strategy of exclusion helps build the DCS community. Lots of your existing customers are just like me, convincing people to try DCS, and spending tons of time and effort to help your newest customers learn to fly online. And the shared experience is much more enjoyable (cough, addictive) than being alone. IMO, making MAC as a standalone (instead of a DCS module) is just going to disable / discourage us from continuing that community-building effort. Also, I still enjoy FC3 planes a lot today, despite also owning many other modules now too - and I would be pissed if I couldn't fly them with my friends. With the utmost respect, I ask you to please reconsider.
  18. Here is the description from ED's YouTube Video on MAC back last summer: "MAC is a module of DCS World and not a separate product." It still says that even today. https://youtu.be/yNWXWOWspYQ And how existing FC3 owners will get a discount, etc. But now, I read some comments in this thread that say the exact opposite = standalone. Did ED just flip a complete 180 turn and change their mind? Or did those people get it wrong somehow? I am confused. I was very likely going to buy it, and maybe for my brother too, to get him started flying in MP with our gang. But if it is going to be standalone, then I guess that will never happen.
  19. Yep it is working normally again for me now, without any changes on my end. Whatever you did c0ff, thanks buddy!
  20. But AFAIK there wasn't any update today, and it worked fine yesterday. Unless somehow Steam updated DCS without leaving a trace in the Download Log...?
  21. I can no longer join any multiplayer server in DCS. I can see the server list in Multiplayer screen, but if I double-click any server, or select one and use the JOIN button at the bottom right, then nothing happens except the button clicks. No loading screen, just the same server list. This just happened today. Yesterday = no problems. All my ports are forwarded correctly etc. I am running the latest DCS version (2.5.3.24436) on Steam, and there were no recent updates at all. I tried rebooting, logging out from DCS, re-verifying game files, and also tried other multiplayer games that work fine. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  22. I have both, but I prefer the Gazelle. Partly because it is newer (to me) / novelty effect. But also it seems more effective in combat. One small complaint: personally, I find the flight controls a tiny bit "sticky". When I make a small movement of the cyclic or collective, the response is zero until it gets outside a small dead zone. With autopilot/trim off or on. To be clear: I do NOT have a dead zone set up in my controls. And this does not happen on my other heli- modules. Anyway, I do recommend the Gazelle. But at this moment, it is not possible to fly it (in open beta) due to the last update deliberately locking it off from user access. Hope that gets fixed soon.
  23. Yeah me too :-( Its a brand new "known" bug. I guess it means no use of that module at all for now. Known Issues Due the technical issues the cockpits of MiG-21bis and SA342 are temporary disabled in this build. Possible issues with the respawn of clients on the carrier deck.
  24. Thanks man....there it is in options....I somehow missed it before while looking right at it. DoH!
  25. My friend says he can see them in his cockpit. This is what I believe they are supposed to look like (not my image): http://i.imgur.com/y4aJ0.jpg and here is his view from today showing the mirrors: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/407026173781082126/460328769748467722/Screen_180623_235626.png
