  1. Ok, I got it now too. But... must be a bright day and the target should be big as a skyscraper and placed onto a flat desert. Then I managed to get a lock... mostly. Then I need to have a distance of not more than 5nm or so, or the thing falls short... I really wonder what the real world missions looked like with this thing... bright day, visibility 100000+ miles, BIG target... or what? In my test missions I always fly in dusk or dawn, propably not enough light for contrast lock, so it couldnt work. The only advantage: IF it locks and IF it hits, the crater is BIG.
  2. To be honest, I´m not sure if the whole stuff is buggy... The walleye ist just another "WTF..."-stuff in DCS for me. Watched a million youtube-videos how to deploy the thing... seems not to hard... Litening pod to on slew on target, designate uncage the walleye, which moves onto the target but... it never every locks... not on buildings, vehicles, whatever, no matter how far/near/low/high/slow/fast I am... Even when I set a tank onto a flat field, with plenty of contrast... no lock So now some people say... its an old one, hard to use - okay, fine. But then I watch this youtube-videos where a guy (not Wags) acts in a careless and hectic way and the damn thing locks on every attempt... :wallbash: ...frustrating...
  3. At first I was disappointed too. But after some consideration, it seems logical. Strictly speaking, the individual startup of an aircraft is not a thing of the carrier but of the aircraft itself. So a startup crew should be part of the aircraft add-on, not the SuperCarrier add-on. Perhaps ED could sometime provide some kind of "startup crew framework" to enable every addon developer the use of animated people around his aircraft during startup - but so that it fits to the specific aircraft. But actually I think it's too complex because there are surely a lot of different hand signals and movements involved (per aircraft, country, etc)
  4. I feel the same way. Not everyone is sitting at home these days with too much free time. Just like you, I had a long, stressful "Corona"-working day and was looking forward to two hours of relaxed flying in DCS. The one-armed bandit was really funny - exactly once. After that instead of relaxing I spent my time trying to figure out how to turn off the nonsense - and so my free time went by. Then I wrote this post and now I have to go to bed, because tomorrow I have to be a "service provider" for others again (without being able to make jokes thereby).
  5. Thats another nasty problem which I often see, but it happens infrequently.
  6. So here is my track file. Please dont laugh - I concentrated so much on making everything right that I forgot my speed and almost entered stall at my first attempt... So here is what I did: 1. SMS page, select Mav, enter code 2. Switch on pod, search and designate target 3. uncage the mav 4. laser to on 5. mav shows the sqare (lock), fire (the next selected mav was uncaged at first, went then to caged by itself) 6. after that, while flying away from tgt: select next target, designate 7. turning around 8. uncage the mav 9. firing the laser 10. mav shows the cross only, no square If you watch it really close, you´ll see that the square appears a second as I´m right over the target again - so as the whole stuff would only work if you approach from the same side, but not from the opposide direction.   7. One more important addition: I use the latest Beta. Does the problem possibly only occur in the beta version?
  8. I can confirm the problem. I never turned off the laser in between and it still didnt work. The second Maverick just never locked! My new method so far has been to turn off the laser, reset the pod camera, re-select the next Maverick in the SMS page and start the whole process all over again. In the end, I have to make a new approach to the target because it all takes too long. Pretty cumbersome. There's no way it works the way it was shown in some demo videos, so just select a new target while leaving and continue with the next maverick after turning back in. However, the error is not clearly reproducible, because sometimes you have to fiddle a bit more or a bit less until it works again. Apart from that: technically, it shouldn't matter what you do in which order, isnt it? All that matters should be that in the end the maverick is uncaged, searching and the pod marks the target correctly (ok, the code must match, of course). Right?

  10. Same problem here: after downloading 16GB on steam it doesnt start anymore. Tried repair (with disabled anti virus) - didnt help. Wasted 2h of lifetime. Annoying. Now rolling the whole bs back... thanks a lot.

Question regarding tanker Thanks for the great tool, I use it almost every day and after some time I've managed to get about 50 points regularly (and my blood pressure is now only 180 when I'm in the groove)... :D I noticed a little thing yesterday. I took off from the coast and flew directly towards the tanker to practice some air refuelling. I had barely hooked up when the tanker took a slight turn. I thought to myself: "ok, even more training..." and tried to stay with it (through the turn) - assuming it would just turn back 180° and fly straight again. But he didn't do that, from that moment on he did left and right turns permanently and didn't stop. I wasn't able to hold on any longer, disconnected and stayed in formation watching the show (waiting for him to fly straight again) but at some point I had bingo fuel and had to go to the carrier. That was quite funny and exciting, but shouldn't the tanker always fly straight ahead, except for the 2 180° turns at the end of its racetrack? Or is that a particularly hard training method? :D

  13. Hi there, sorry if the question is stupid. I´ve only written scripts for another sim (the sim with X) so far and now I´m trying DCS. What strikes me is that I havent found an answer to a very simple, fundamental question yet: I´m looking for a way to react to keyboard/joystick input (keys) directly in the script. For example, switching to the next checklist position at the push of a button. Can someone please push me in the right direction? Best regards Jörg
  14. Can confirm this. Have to turn MSAA to off to see something in the mirrors. It´s since the latest build, worked before.
  15. It´s a truck. So if the S5 is weak, perhaps I should use all 32 at once. At the moment I use only 2 per dive. However, I found the guns (pod or GSH) are way more effective and easier to use. Using the guns I need 2-3 attempts to destroy the truck, and have to fly way less precise. So in that perspective, the S5 really seems to be a jumping cracker.
  16. Hi there, I´m playing the L39 training mission (s5 rockets). Found it really hard to get everything together at the right moment during attack (speed, angle, altitude and so on), almost never hit the target directly. But even if I hit the ground 2-5 meters besides the target with two rockets, there is no damage to the target! What about fragmentation, shock wave, explosion radius...? I mean, in "real life" a direct hit is not as easy (poor visibility, weather, stress, under fire) and I really can´t believe, that it has no effect when the rockets hit 5m besides the rarget...? Or I´m completely wrong??

  19. Still waiting for the "F15C Aggressors BFM-Campaign". Thats why I´m asking. Allways get the advertising for the new campaigns on Steam, but can´t buy it, even weeks later. Is a bit strange.
  20. Hi there, did I miss something? In 2.5.1 Update 1 the offline mode is gone, the button to enable "Offline mode" disappeared...
  21. Can confirm so far... tested the whole evening yesterday, no freezes. Happy for the moment.

  23. But my first idea is still there... could be related to TrackIR, because for me the trouble started right with my first TrackIR-flight. The problem is... to try it out, I have to fly without my beloved TrackIR... and I dont want this. Someone else...? ;-)
  24. So... 2 hours of flight in "offline mode", 2 small freezes and one fat one (about 10 seconds or so). So offline mode is not the solution and Coffee76 was right.
  25. Will try it in offline mode in the next days and report back! Can remember, some time ago somewhere was a similar discussion about possible relations between network-io-stuff and freezes. Interesting!
