Old skool steel spring IBM-style Keyboards by Unicomp Keyboards. I heard a thing on the radio the other day about this company they continued making the m type keyboard after IBM stopped making them. -op4 -

Photos of real Ka-50: New secret stuff on the Overhead Panel?
opformaster replied to eV1Te's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Yeah I took a second look through the gallery and didnt see the tell-tale FLIR-turret on the nose. I did a quick compare and contrast but couldnt find anything that wasnt on the exterior of the ka-50 modeled in DCS. I did notice the 2 red nose plugs on either side and am wondering about their function. In-Sim you will notice a silver dot on either side of the nose, maybe they are the laser warning recievers. I dunno, any one got any better ideas? -op4 -

Nice find! save it before they edit that one to. On a serious note: Since the ka-50 modeled in DCS is a earlier common variant, I wonder if that has anything to do with FLIR and night flying? -op4 -

Its the new super-secret standby Hula indicator!! I knew reading all those Tom Clancy novels when I was a kid would pay off! Wags is the real former Spook though so I wanna hear what he thinks it is. And yes I know "loose lips sink ships" so a sarcastic answer will suffice. -op4 -
Since there is no axis for the rotaries you will have to make a macro that presses the key you want pressed when you rotate the knob. I have a N52 speedpad with a mouse wheel on it that I have programed to press buttons when the wheel is scrolled up or down. I use mine for the Abris Cursor rotary knob. -op4

Thats what I think is missing :D -
possible to ignore the xy axis on one controller?
opformaster replied to oakdown's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
You have to save a profile for each for each controller. So if you have a saitek x45 and a saitek cyborg gold, you need to save a profile for each (make sure the proper controllers column is highlighted before you save). The best way to make sure you dont have any conflicts is to clear the all category for each controller (except the KB and mouse) and program the buttons as you see fit. -op4 -
How the AI should NOT fly (quite a few pics inside)
opformaster replied to tdar's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Ive found if you have mastered the 5 D's of dodgeball you can loose your wing man en route to your area of operations. First find some power pylons, then Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge repeatedly under the power lines, and wait for the boom:music_whistling:. -op4 -

Its even better when they hover over you popping flares, with the PA announcing "hey you in the AAA gun! My flight leader is right below me!!" -op4 Edit: Oh yeah the pics are great as well! I had a good chuckle! -
linking 2 PCs: hardwire, or wireless
opformaster replied to Flyby's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I say run down to the home despot and get your self a long drill bit and a fish tape. Ive setup wireless networks in a variety of locations and its always a sure bet that you will have some dead spots. Unless its a requirement of yours to be able to compute wirelessly at home I say avoid it. A wired connection will be faster and more secure for the foreseeable future. -op4 -
Let me put this first and foremost that I would rather support the developer of a simulator directly as opposed to through retail by way of a publisher. I did this back in the day for Combat mission which I ordered online from battlefront and got via snail mail(300pg printed manual included). So why is the amazon price $39 w/ free shipping? I understand I have had the pleasure of flying DCS:BS longer than someone who waited for the retail release, but the pricing schemes always boggle my mind:huh:. -op4

I built a akers-barnes simpit. It can be cut out of 2 4'x8' sheets of 1/2" plywood. It assembles without fasteners of any type. I asked permission of the designers to modifyit to a narrower footprint. I just got some foam for it this morning and im likeing it more than my normal desk chair.

Try initiating the hover when your speed is under 20 km/h. And is the ALt. hold light comming on as well? If not make sure to turn off the FD, it will override the Alt. Hold. -op4

Almost anything is better than twist grip rudder controls. I think I will be using triggerhappys design for a set of rudder pedals. Currently I am using a thumb joystick and its way better. -op4

Hit escape and then resume the game. Its a known issue. -op4

Engaging the FD during takeoff also helps with the pitching. -op4

Getting the rig put together...FINALLY
opformaster replied to hitman's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Hey Hitman, It looks like the HDDs would clear the GFX cards why do you have all 3 packed right on top of each other? I like to have a lil space to let air flow between them. A stack of HDDs can get really hot and more surface area allows better cooling. Looking good anyway, hope the rest of your build goes a bit smoother. -op4 -

From the arctic silver website I personally use arctic silver Ceramique to avoid any possibility. -
Just use the editor and place a ka-50 on an airfield and set the skill level to "Player". You can just click "Fly" and try it out or actually save it as a mission and then load it from the single missions menu. "target range" starts you off cold and has a range with targets so you can also practice a lil gunnery.

At first I was thinking that the compression and heat would melt the ice as it entered. So i did a search and found this article , its about how freezing drizzle can damage jet engines. It has also got some good pics of iced engines. enjoy:book: -op4
