  1. I wanna see some MSFFB guts :music_whistling:. Does it have internal springs for centering? -op4
  2. My franken force is logitech based and it works. I removed the centering springs and the trimmer works even better now. I did get some of that pitching you talk about hajduk but since I have removed the springs from the CH Force FX gimbal its a 100% better. If i had a saitek evo force I would open it up and see if their are any internal springs that may be causing erroneous inputs. warranty we dont need no stinking warranty!
  3. Some pics of the internal workings of the Franken Force. On the top right wedged in at an angle is the logitech wingman USB board. Mounted next to it are the 2 cat-5 extension ports (for unused axis and buttons) power porrt and switch. Those all had to be fitted to the joystick base. Ive also removed the centering springs to much improvement. Before the trimmer worked allright now it works great! On the lower left is the CH 568 board. To the right is the secondary logitech board with old logitech twist rudder pot (the lil black hunk of plastic). Next to it is the old logitech throttle leads connected to a spare CH products pot. You can also see the cat-5 port I wired to the secondary board, I still need to hook it upif I wanna calibrate the logitech portion of the stick. -op4
  4. I dunno if they do it in Russia but in allot of places they put wire markers on the power lines like this company http://www.tanawiremarker.com/ -op4
  5. This is a working config Zorlac posted I have a 20.1" @ 1600 x 1200 and a 17" @ 1280 x 1024. When they are in horizontal stretch mode my res is 2560 x 1024 (or 2x my lowest res). I tried adding the 2 resolutions together (in the config) manually and tried manually placing the abris and shkval on the second screen but it was nothing but scrunched, warped views and crashes. I do wish I could figure out how to get the monitors to each run at their native res but I would rather be flying. So why not try this: Stretch your desktop (horizontally), use the above lua script and make sure your in game res is set to 2x the res of your monitor with the lowest res. Go flying!! -op4
  6. trigger those pedals are awesome!! Is there a centering spring or a detent to let you know when they are centered? Ive been procrastinating on starting my pedals but your design looks top notch. Do you have CAD files of the pedals you can share?? -op4
  7. I noticed this the other night in the mission editor:cry:. I was kinda hoping to create a Ukraine v. Russia coop but there is nothing to attack in the Ukraine. Could we get a re-centered map that has a bit more detail in the NW black sea?
  8. AA and I met up for a couple of sessions of MP he hosted over the past 2 weeks. I learned allot from AA, if any other NYers or East coasters have been thinking about MP give us a shout. More is always better!
  9. center stick for me... I fly mostly IL2 and now DCS so I havent come across any planes that used a side stick. Center stick feels a bit more stable to me as well.
  10. I dug out a shuttle 17" xp17 that has given me no end of trouble due to a lousy psu. I looked through my bin of old psu and electrical doo-dads and found a t40 laptop psu with the required output and hooked it up. The shuttle's max res is 1280x1024 so I lowered my samsung's res and did the horizontal stretch. I used the lua script posted by zorlac and set my ingame res to 2560x1024. Works like a charm!! So far the t40 psu has powered the xp17 just fine and I hope it will continue to. I will post some pics later when I get them into their final configuration. -op4
  11. I would not have made a joke if people were killed but the fact is everybody is ok. Ive lived in NYC my entire life, and the fact is we have our fair share of aviation mishaps due to a variety of factors. Ive seen a few of them in person and I worked on the ground zero site in the first week. Life is crazy, if you cant laugh at it a bit then whats the point. -op4
  12. Its got to be the worst day to go down in the Hudson, at least it had stopped snowing and they were able to make a safe landing. Plus its a very active stretch of the river with allot of ferry crossings and cruise ships berthed there. So if a plane crashes between NY and NJ where do you bury the survivors? edit: We have allot of plane crashes here, you get used to it after your 4th or 5th.
  13. I like the Gaz tiger much more Its cheaper and faster than a hummer
  14. 4.08m I think is the last official patch. There is a version switcher so you can play MP with people who have bought IL2 + FB and all the other expansions over the years. Thats the great thing about IL2:1946 is that its all the patches + expansions in one install and will definitely run on your specs.
  15. nice work!! is ther any space inside the MS base for the x52 board or do you have to keep it external?
  16. mission4today is a good spot and simhq has a section for most sims. I havent played much other than il-2:1946 but it covers a good range of aircraft in a number of roles.
  17. http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=572028&postcount=34 How often do you really need to trim to such extremes? I dunno im a noob but I dont think its broken.
  18. I had something completely different but i fixed it with a fresh install. Certain options were not present in the axis control section and that was why i had no mouse look. I also did a lil RTFM:smartass: and figured out what i was doing wrong in the controller options when saving profiles.
  19. Im running into the same problem. I just reinstalled BS and the lua map I had saved to my flash disk prior to my unistall did not work. I set the mouse X & Y axis to the apropriate camera axis, but when im in the cockpit the view jiggles a bit but wont leave the centered view unless I use the pov hat. Then as soon as I try to click a button or move the mouse the view centers. Also the mouse zoom axis only zooms in (to gunsight view) now and wont zoom out. I tried clearing it and setting it to default but that did not yield any results. any ideas?
  20. CH-Products for their robustness, They will last a lifetime. A CH setup will probably run you a touch more than a saitek. Some dislike that the throttle is a slider but their are some easy (non destructive) mods to make it more like a real collective. I use a modified CH products HOTAS.
  21. I just cloned my old raptor onto a new SSD, No problems BS started up fine.
  22. look at my sig im running 2 CH products, 1 Logitech, and the N52. The n52 is mapped to the keyboard so its totally separate from BS. The CH control manager is directx map with a few KB maps here and there. The logitech currently just does cyclic x&y plus FFB but i have plans to add the brake and a set of rudder pedals.
  23. I just realized I had a n52 sitting in a box, so I dug it it and hooked it up. Anyone else flying with one of these and have a map set up for it? This is how Im setting up mine: Normal will cover the Abris , IRCM deployment , laser warning pushlight and other cockpit warning pushlights. Red shift will control the targeting mode control panel. Green shift will handle IRCM programing functions, radar altitude safe limit set and possibly landing lights Blue shift covers the PRTz datalink panel on the over head. IRC When possible I am trying to keep the button layout on the n52 as they are in the cockpit. The IRCM deployment function is retained throughout all shift modes. I will post a copy when I get the kinks worked out.
  24. This is a good thread that explains allot about what to expect with the trimmer while using a FFB stick http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35444&highlight=trimmer. It is my understanding that the FCD only has 20% authority over the flight controls. If you try and put the cyclic in a position that is outside that 20% authority it will move to a position that it can hold. My FFB stick is based on a used Logitech Wingman force 3D board and it works as described.
  25. I may have to crack my throttle open and see if there is anything I can tighten.
