  1. New GPU: Asus Rog Strix 3090 OC edition. (insert aubergine emoji) Unboxing a GPU worth several orders of magnitude more than my car was fun. Set it up with little to no hassle. The only variable that changed between tests was instead of using MSI afterburner for the 1080ti, I switched to Asus GPU tweak II. Conducted the same mission in the Gazelle. 3090: 1 minute = 61FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 15.0ms CPU FRAMETIME = 15.9ms – GPU = 87% (improvement = 23FPS) + 60.52% 5 minute = 53FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 15.9.2ms CPU FRAMETIME = 18.1ms – GPU = 81% (improvement = 19FPS) + 61.29% 10 minute = 49FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 20.0ms CPU FRAMETIME = 29.8ms – GPU = 90% (improvement = 18FPS) + 58.06% 15 minute = 50FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 20.9ms CPU FRAMETIME = 25.9ms – GPU = 91% (improvement = 28FPS) + 127.27% 20 minute = 48FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 20.1ms CPU FRAMETIME = 20.1ms – GPU = 90% (improvement = 2FPS) + 4.34% 25 minute = 59FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 13.4ms CPU FRAMETIME = 16.0ms – GPU = 70% (improvement = 12FPS) + 25.5% 30 minute = 56FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 15.0ms CPU FRAMETIME = 17.2ms – GPU = 62% (improvement = 15FPS) + 36.58% 35 minute = 50FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 15.3ms CPU FRAMETIME = 19.1ms – GPU = 60% (improvement = 3FPS) = 6.38% 40 minute = 55FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 16.1.4ms CPU FRAMETIME = 17.6ms– GPU = 82% (improvement = 13FPS) +30.95% 45 minute = 51FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 15.5ms CPU FRAMETIME = 18.3ms – GPU = 71% (improvement = 10FPS) + 24.39% 50 minute = 42FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 19.3ms CPU FRAMETIME = 23.1ms – GPU = 72% (improvement = -3FPS) - 6.66% Average percentage increase = 38.96% increase in performance (when GPU is the bottle neck ) Average FPS increase = 10.9FPS (26.07%)
  2. Test Scenario 1: I loaded a very large Dynamic Mission on the Syria map onto a dedicated server Running on my machine ( Helps with FPS ) This mission is extremely taxing, it has thousands of lines of lua script running along with hundreds of units. As this is a big year for helicopters in DCS, I started with a Gazelle taking off from a FOB in Karsi. Flight Plan would take me through a mountain valley, over the plains toward a Target near Aleppo. Mission start time was just before Dawn, This is normally EXTREMELY taxing on the GPU and its not uncommon for my FPS to drop down to Single digits during Day break. This scenario was chosen as it reflected "real world" performance. as opposed to a basic free flight mission. It also what I spend the majority of my time doing, so It was relevant to me. Test Methodology. Using FPS VR to measure FPS and frame times. Flight was recorded using OBS. Upon finishing the test Flight, I reviewed the recording and polled the results at 5 minute intervals. I will post the mission on Youtube so all can evaluate for themselves. 1080ti 1 minute = 38FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 26ms CPU FRAMETIME = 11.9ms GPU usage = 98% 5 minutes = 31FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 32ms CPU FRAMETIME = 16.4ms GPU usage = 98% 10 minutes = 31FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 33.3ms CPU FRAMETIME = 14.8ms GPU usage = 98% 15 minutes = 22FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 47.5ms CPU FRAMETIME = 15.5ms GPU usage = 98% 20 minutes = 46FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 21.5ms CPU FRAMETIME = 15.5ms GPU usage = 98% 25 minutes = 47FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 20.9ms CPU FRAMETIME = 15.6ms GPU usage = 98% 30 minutes = 41FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 23.8ms CPU FRAMETIME = 14.8ms GPU usage = 98% 35 minutes = 47FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 20.3ms CPU FRAMETIME = 14.0ms GPU usage = 98% 40 minutes = 42FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 30.8ms CPU FRAMETIME = 21.2ms GPU usage = 98% 45 minutes = 41FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 25.7ms CPU FRAMETIME = 14.9ms GPU usage = 98% 50 minutes = 45FPS – GPU FRAMETIME = 22.7ms CPU FRAMETIME = 16.2ms GPU usage = 98% DCS SETTINGS.bmp
  3. Hello Everyone! I recently decided to bite the bullet and get a new Graphics Card. I had absolutely no Idea what to expect, I had read many forum posts that indicated a negligible improvement. Which is NOT GOOD for such a massive investment. While waiting for the new card to arrive I decided that I wanted to quantify exactly what improvement I had gotten for the investment. This was not an easy undertaking. So, Here goes....... Intel 8700k – delided -overclocked to 5.0GHz @ 1.35v Asus 1080ti 11Gb Vram – 400MHz overclock on Vram – 200Mhz OC on the core Coolmaster Captain 360 AIO Asus Z370e Motherboard 32Gb of G.Skill 3200mz Ram Samsung 970Pro m.2 Corsair RM1000i Power Supply Pimax 5k+ Pitool version – V1.0.1.268 Firmware – V2.1.255.270 Fov – Normal Refresh rate – 90Hz Render Quality – 1 Steam Vr Settings: Resolution per eye: 500% - 5728 x 4708 Re-projection: (off) MotionSmoothing: (off) Nvidia control Panel settings: Prefer maximum performance (on) Virtual reality pre-rendered frames (3) Windows 10 home: Version 20H2 Hyperthreading: Disabled Process Lasso: UNINSTALLED Windows Page file: 32Gb Game DVR: (Disabled) Windows Game mode: (Disabled) Full Screen optimization: (Disabled) Nvidia Display driver: 461.72 Spectre / Meltdown Protection: Disabled Vr Shader Mod (clear Water): Installed Mask Size: 0.675 Frustrum Culling (on) DCS Version: 2.5.6.61527
  4. This is Really impressive. Cant wait for the release. Have you considered making it an official module?
  5. Hello Thrston. There is a Mods version available here. It includes the latest F-22 mod by Grinnelli. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313200/ Its only the first two missions at this stage, I plan to add more in the future. You will need FC3 and all of the following Mods for this: A-4E-C ( https://heclak.github.io/community-a4e-c/ ) Grinelli F-22A ( https://fsoutlet.com/f22/ ) Cubanace SU-57 (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.c...files/2539621/) Cuesta brothers Dassault Rafale (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3307478/) MIG -31 *edited by Robert* (https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3312137/) VSN_Eurofighter Typhoon VSN_F-35 VSN_F/A-18F VSN mods available here. ( https://filehorst.de/folder.php?key=b6O86Ll4 ) I hope you enjoy it. I had an absolute blast flying the F-22.
  6. Hello everyone. I have been a fan of this Mod for a longtime. I have noticed recently that it causes some canopy reflections at night (only in Gazelle) that make it unflyable at night. I am wondering if its possible to disable the shaders that effect the canopy glass. Thanks
  7. I for one am very excited about this project. Be sure to make a Patreon account.
  8. AI units spawned using MOOSE from a Super carrier at AirStart will exhibit abnormal behaviour if the mission start time is does not allow case 1 recovery. In the attached Test Mission. the spawned group will behave normally when mission start time is set to 19:30 (Dusk) If the mission start time is changed to 19:45, then 1 unit from the spawned group will immediately RTB, while the other carries out its instructions. I believe that this is a DCS bug, as opposed to something in MOOSE as the fault does not occur when spawning from any other airbase. If the units are changed to SU-33 and the airbase changed to the Kuznetsov, The AI group will behave normally. TEST_MISSION.miz
  9. I have locked down the bug I reported earlier.
  10. A few more server logs... dcs.log dcs (2).log
  11. Hello Everyone. I am getting some strange behaviour from AI that have been spawned (Using MOOSE) at air start over a super carrier. If Multiple groups are spawned, 1 will always ignore its Mission and immediately RTB. However its never the same Group, its always random as to which one will RTB. IF I load the same mission into a Dedicated server, then the First Unit of the spawned group will Carryout its mission, While every 2nd unit in the spawned Group will RTB. If I run the same Scenario, with the same spawned Groups but spawn them from ANY airbase, their is no abnormal Behaviour. This issue only occurs when spawned from SC. There is no errors occurring in the logs. If anyone has encountered such problems before please let me know as this has been driving me nuts for a while now. dcs.log Server Track file. server-20210215-183506.trk
  12. Hello Alex87. I have encountered this before. Bellow is a link to how I resolved it. I hope you manage to resolve the issue.
  13. Hi Skunk160. Use the Jester command wheel to set a manual frequency. ARC182 RADIO - TUNE MANUAL RADIO - then enter the frequency given in the mission. It will take jester a minute to select the frequency during Cold start. Once he has selected the frequency, jump in the back seat and change the Mode switch on the ARC182 radio to DF (1 position to the right). The ADF needle will then direct you to the coordinates. This is the video I used to build the campaign F-14 ARC-182.bmp
  14. @Qiou87 Yes, you are correct. I recall questioning this when I wrote the dialogue for the missions. I obviously got It wrong. I'll update the mission briefings and documentation to be accurate. I will be pursuing professional voice-overs in the future and will Ensure I get the dialogue right.
  15. Hello everyone. I would like to see the ability to select parking spots for each aircraft in the mission editor. Thanks!
  16. Hello @Qiou87 Firstly, Thankyou for the feedback. Its exactly what I need to Make the campaign better, and understand what players need. To Clarify how the scoring system works. their are 3 elements that are evaluated, Navigation, Airmanship, and tactics. Navigation - Successfully navigating to the Co-ordinates in a precise manner, The mission will continue if you have not, but you will be scored negatively. Airmanship - Climbing to an altitude of Angels 25 (or 7600 Meters) and maintaining that within a few hundred feet until reaching your Rendezvous coordinates. ( an easy task in a modern fighter, but actually very challenging in older analogue fighters.) Tactics - points are awarded for each adversary that is destroyed. The instructors evaluation is independent from the mission scoring system. Largely due to the overwhelming complexity when evaluating a 4v2 engagement. The Scoring for the campaign is different for each mission but generally works as follows. 60 points for mission completion - (landing at your airbase and receiving the "Mission Complete" message 20 points for each successful engagement - ( 10 points for each kill in a 2v1, 5 points for each kill in a 4v2 ) The Campaign should progress normally provided you complete the engagements and Land back at your airbase. Your observation that points should be awarded for hits on an Adversary, as opposed to a Kill is 100% correct. Calling "Knock it off" was the correct decision. Had the Adversary crashed prior to your instructor re-joining with you would have been awarded the points. I am Currently working on the next update for the campaign, I will Update the documentation to give players a better understanding of what is required of them. I will attempt to change the scoring against adversary's to hits, as opposed to kills. It may have unintended consequences so could take a bit more time. Again Thank you for your feedback. Please feel free to post any Track or TacView files. I would really love to see how others fly the mission.
  17. Hello everyone. This is the Discussion thread For the U.S.A.F Weapons School Campaign. The campaign is set on the NTTR Map and features all (Fighter) modules with the exception of WW2 aircraft. War-birds will have their own campaign on "The Channel" map. The campaign is targeted at players learning a new module or brushing up on an old one. CAMPAIGN FEATURES: Dynamic airbase: Airbases are populated with dynamically spawned static aircraft to make the airbase feel alive. Random events will occur at each airbase to make the experience different every time you fly it. Dynamic Adversaries: The player can select his opponent’s skill level using the f-10 menu. Opponents will be intelligently generated based on your chosen aircraft's capabilities. If you Choose to fly an F-86, you wont be fighting JF-17's. Intelligent coordinate system: The campaign encourages players to learn the navigation systems of their chosen aircraft. Co-ordinates will be provided in a format to suit each aircraft. Their is a modified LUA file available for the ARC radio system in the MIG-21 Download the Modified file and install in your DCS install directory. C:ProgramFiles\EagleDynamics\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\MIG-21bis\Cockpit\Systems\ Replace the R_NAV_data_Nevada.lua file with the modified file. You will now be able to use the ARC navigation system in the Campaign. Follow me vehicle: Ever gotten lost on a taxi way? A follow me vehicle will escort you to the runway. Intelligent Instructor: Allied flights will operate independently of the player and execute their mission independently. Intelligent tankers: A Tanker will always be in a convenient location should you need one. So far the campaign engine has an unimaginable amount of variability, and will provide a Unique experience, regardless of what aircraft you choose to fly. The campaign will be available in 2 versions. one with MODS and one without. Any Comments, suggestions, feedback and bug reports can be posted bellow I would really appreciate any tacview, Track files to see how other Pilots fly the missions. Download the Campaign here. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3313504/ R_NAV_data_Nevada.lua
  18. Hello JefferyC.

I am writing to you in regards to your recent comment on the "U.S.A.F Weapons School Campaign.

Firstly, Thank you for the feed back, and I am glad your enjoying the campaign.

Now, to your comment regarding the instructor not re-joining. I believe I have experienced this before, but was unable to pin point why it had occurred. I suspect that the Instructor was delayed in take-off for some reason.

Could I ask what aircraft you were flying? also, If you have a TacView or Track file, It would help pinpoint what occurred. You can post them here If you have any.

Again thanks for the Feedback, it really is invaluable.

    All the Best!

      Hello JefferyC

I have made many changes to the campaign, based on the feed back you provided.

The update should be ready for the weekend and ill let you know when I have it uploaded.

In your case, I suspect that the instructor was low on fuel and either flew to the tanker, or the nearest airbase, I will set the instructor to "unlimited fuel" so this doesn't happen in the future.

I will look into the adversaries continuing to engage after Knock It Off, as I have not seen this happen before.

      Again, Thanks for the feedback.

  19. Much appreciated Rudel_chw Happy New Year!
  20. Hello everyone. I am trying to make a simple, linear campaign using the Campaign builder. I am having trouble getting the missions to follow the correct sequence. I believe this has something to do with the "Stage" and "range" values. I have read the DCS world User manual for the campaign builder, however this really does not make it clear how to use these values. I have 16 missions, and would like them to simply play in sequence, regardless of outcome. If anyone has any experience using this I would really appreciate the help.
  21. To Answer my own Question. Yes!!! Firstly, I can confirm that the Miz file had become corrupted, as opposed to a user setting causing problems. To repair the .miz file, I converted it to a zip file and unpacked the contents. Loaded the "mission" file into LDT (Notepad ++ equivalent) I went through the endless lines of code that essentially make up the mission, over 100k in this case. I found that the last 6000 lines of code make up the "system failure"____ System, this is embedded into all miz files regardless of options selected in ME. I found that despite NEVER enabling any random system failures for any Aircraft, many of them were "Enabled" I attempted to change these settings in the ME and see if it would update the Corrupted miz, however I noticed no change. I created a new blank mission and saved the Miz file, unpacked it. Copied the uncorrupted Code that constituted the "system failures" into the existing mission miz file. Re-compressed all files back into a .miz format. I have found that the system failures no longer occur and the mission works as intended.. I have no Idea how this happened, I am just pleased it was able to be resolved. system failures.bmp
  22. Hello everyone. I have an issue where random system failures occur in ANY Client aircraft. This issue occurs only in a particular MIZ file, which I suspected has become corrupt in some way. Other than the random system failures, the mission proceeds normally and theirs no other abnormality. I have checked and confirmed that the "random system failures" option is not selected. I have tried this mission file on numerous versions of DCS OB and Stable. Their are no MODS installed. I have been through the logs and not found anything out of the ordinary. I am wondering if anyone has ever experienced this before, and if their is anyway to repair the MIZ file. A huge amount of effort went into making it and I really don't want to start over. Thanks dcs.log
  23. When Spawning an AI Tomcat (both A & B) variants, They spawn, startup and Taxi with wings fully extended. This Was not the case on the Previous open beta version. While this has not been an issue for me (yet) I can see AI assets having major issues taxiing around Airbases. Just wanted to let the Devs know..... No complaints from me
  24. I set up a dedicated server on my main PC for single player In VR. The mission I tested is on Syria and has dozens of AI aircraft, and (stationary) ground units. I realise results are subjective, but I did find a significant improvement in micro-stutters that are indicative of highly populated missions. I noticed far more consistent GPU utilization, increased CPU usage and maxed out my 32GB of RAM. When this mission is flown in standard single player, their is significant micro stuttering and frame loss, especially when AI begin attacking targets and their is a lot of ordinance being thrown around. The downside to running a dedicated server is. 1) Its a 50GB install 2) its a pain to set up and execute missions 3) I had to modify the mission to work properly (dedicated server has a bug when spawning units at airbases, had to change them all to spawn in air.) All in all, I'm pretty happy with the performance improvement and will continue to use it. I'll probably look to set up a home server, or upgrade my rig. 8700k Delided @ 5Ghz 32 GB of 3200Mhz RAM OC 1080ti 2 x 960Pro M.2 SSD Pimax 5k Plus
  25. So you installed the DCS dedicated server on your machine and then logged into your main dcs account and joined the server? What was your CPU and RAM usage like?
