  1. Most of the things that most people do in DCS are in fact bad habits.
  2. You can use China aft to step missiles, however by doing so you'll negate quick draw, which is the main advantage of using LAU-88s and the reason why they don't automatically step from one station to the other.
  3. Sorry, but that is a load of ----. Yes there are weather conditions that will necessitate cancellation of missions, but what those conditions are depend very much on the specific aircraft and its capabilities, and the importance of the mission in question. There were cases in "Desert Storm" where F-4G weasels took off with zero visibility, that is not even being able to see the runway they were taking off from. Now that is a very extreme example granted, but it can and does happen. And similar things happen still today, regularly. Conditions that would prevent civil flying and even cancel military training operations, do not necessarily cancel combat operations. That said people aren't talking about creating hurricane conditions, just some realistic and varied weather conditions. If you think military aircraft only fly in clear blue skies you are very sorely mistaken.
  4. A slew switch replacement for the WH would be very popular I think.
  5. Yes beta 6, also noticed it in the last v0.9 version as well. Also just to confirm, this is with both DCS clients and the lotatc clients connecting to the same server and mission instance multiple times.
  6. Dart, We have been seeing issues with duplicate/ghosted contacts for human controlled aircraft on our server. It seems that each time a pilot joins a new "track" is created for them, but the old tracks from previous missions are also present. Often leading to people having 3 or more tracks all overlapping, making reading the labels and determining aircraft/flight numbers near impossible and it's even more of a problem when players have ghost tracks from both red and blue. See the attached screen captures for examples. Any ideas on how we can solve this one? The issue goes away after the server is restarted, but with us often running a single scenario for two weeks or more that's not really ideal.
  7. All instruments in the aircraft reference magnetic heading.
  8. http://www.476vfightergroup.com/showthread.php?3131-Air-to-Surface-Weapon-Delivery-Methods Questions?
  9. It's just a charge to propel the flare/chaff bundle out of the dispenser that's all.
  10. That photo shows the empty spaces where the dispensers would be loaded. Most US aircraft use pyrotechnics to "fire" chaff/flare from the dispensers, hence their placement on the aircraft. Other types use mechanical action to push expendables from the dispenser. For chaff, you shouldn't "see" anything more than a puff of smoke from the pyrotechnic charge, or in cases such as the BOL dispensers used on Typhoon/Tornado and other aircraft nothing at all.
  11. A nice declassified US Navy instructional video on Self Protection Jamming from 1962. Has some nice clear and easy to understand explanations of a few ECM techniques such as Range Gate Pull-off and Velocity Gate Pull-off. And even mentions numbers and types of RADARs that can be countered simultaneously (by 50+ year old systems). Imagine what we can do 62 years later. And what modern Surface and Airborne RADAR systems have to do to try and counter the countermeasures.
  12. Seperate checklist(s).
  13. Sadly not. The closest you can get is to reduce internal fuel by the same amount, which will allow the fuel to feed from the external tank to internal tanks once engines are running and RPM is high enough (airborne essentially). In an ideal world adding external tanks would just add fuel capacity to aircraft, allowing you to move the fuel slider up beyond 100%.
  14. Sounds like you're approaching the tanker with Master Arm & Gun/PAC Arm still set. Both should be set to safe and you should be fenced out before you are approaching the tanker. As soon as you open the refuelling door EAC is disabled, which of course disables PAC which will cause the pitch up.
  15. It's just primer that's all, it just happens to be green because that's the colour it's made with. Not all aircraft primer coats are green, but it is a common colour for primers in general.
  16. Ok thanks. We have a few guys who are pretty much unable to fly at the moment due to issues with Aries so the next version, which I hope will fix the issues (all already discussed afaik) and make it all work well again.
  17. Any eta on the next update guys? We have quite few members having serious issues with Aries (total loss of comms/loss of PTT functionat the moment, mainly related to the Eavesdropper issues that have been mentioned before.
  18. It isn't part of the aircraft's sensors. It's part of the LITENING pod, as in part of its software which is the same regardless of the aircraft to which it is attached. In much the same way, if someone decided to fit the LITENING (or SNIPER) to an F-15C you'd still have all the AG functions. It's doesn't mean they'd start making use of said modes. The issue is much the same as the seemingly standard approach I see of people staring through the TGP (drinking straw) scanning for ground vehicles, rather than looking out of the cockpit. It's the same issue with AA, rule no1 is to get your head out of the cockpit and look outside, to cover your wingman and perform all the other duties you should be. Oh and no element of my previous post was intended as rude, not sure why you took it that way, but it wasn't the intention.
  19. While that's fine if that's how you choose to play, real world TTPs do not agree with you. While you're looking thought the TGP searching for aircraft, you're breaking pretty much every wingman/flight lead contract out there. The LiTENINGs AA mode is there because it's part of the LITENING pod itself, not the aircraft it's attached to. It's another case, as often happens here, of people finding solutions to problems that don't really exist.
  20. He isn't, 1 TGP and 1 SUU-25. No.
  21. It's not right, the default HOF is too high and does not match reality. Best thing to do is set it to 700, that is closest to RW performance of the SFW.
  22. Indeed. As Thumper points out, it's all down to you. You reach nearly 200 KIAS on the runway, rotation speed with a loadout of similar weight to what you were carrying would around 130 KIAS. You then pull to 50 degrees of pitch, well beyond what the A-10C could ever sustain (the max stable climb angle after takeoff would be 7-13 degrees depending on weight & drag). Either you're control config is incorrect, or you need to learn the basics of how to fly.
  23. The main thing that needs addressing is the amount of momentum that DCS flares carry, they just don't separate from the aircraft fast enough. They also burn too long in most cases (although this depends which flare you compare to). What we really need are multiple flare types in DCS.
  24. You use a different threat library/multi mission data load which reflects the order of battle. No more complex than loading new map data or anything else. Many RWR systems allow for multiple threat libraries to be loaded and the pilot can select them from the RWR config menus, as well as other options that affect threat prioritisation (hide or show search emitters for example). The same type of data is used for the "AUTO" modes in newer countermeasures dispensing systems, and also ECM systems.
