IIRC USAF never had 2nd gen MiG-23 ML/MLA/MLD which improved greatly on the earlier model flaws in many respects (lighter about 1200kg, thrust increased by ~22%, better avionics, look down shoot down radar, IRST, higher allowed G load) and I expect MiG-23MLA to be at least on par with F-4E (in DCS) in terms of air-to-air engagements (except combat load of course). MiG-23MLD with further improved aerodynamics would probably outclass F-4E in most if not all aspects when it comes to air to air combat.

Many things in DCS are simplified, like RCS and IR signature, but that's OK as long as the relative ratio between planes is OK, like Su-27/F-15 having large radar and IR signatures compared to smaller single engine fighters. Calculating RCS by counting frontal area projection is plain silly. Take a look at frontal area projection of F-22, should have huge radar return if you count the pixels . Gumi, did you get your ass kicked by someone in a Jeff? Just asking

Has Deka decided yet? What's their next module?
AnarchyZG replied to J-20's topic in Deka Ironwork Simulations
Deka probably has decided and are working on new module for some time already, but they won't go public with info. It is reasonable, I mean look at some dev studios which created tons of hype and then disappoint the fans. Deka doesn't need the publicity and do not want to be burdened with 1001 questions/demands/critics before they have the beta. Just like JF-17 came out of nowhere and became an instant hit, I hope the next module will be similar success story . Disclaimer: of course, this is just my speculation -
I have updated my Ka-50 MATRIC integration script, feel free to check it out. Blog post contains step by step instructions on how to get it working. I hope you'll find it useful:https://blog.matricapp.com/dcs-integration-ka-50-v2

When you lack space and are on a tight budget it definitely stimulates resourcefulness . Here is how you can use an Android smartphone or tablet as fully integrated cockpit panel, export script and instructions are in the blog post. https://blog.matricapp.com/dcs-integration-ka-50-v2

Deka has been on the forefront of simulation fidelity and quality in DCS. First to implement realistic IFF , targeting pod and now the radar, not to mention their first full fidelity was released almost 100% functional. Attention to detail like "Open the canopy first" or zeroize switch when repairing...and sense of humor makes them my favorite 3rd party. It would be great if higher fidelity radar model was a part of ED API so that all aircraft can benefit from it. ED is lagging behind in many aspects related to weapons/sensors. DCS is pretty good for procedural cockpit "switchology", weapons/sensors modelling is slooooowly improving but still lags behind the switchology (which seems to be the main focus.). Maybe Deka should license some things to ED

You can do both buttons and the display, this is how one very talented community member did it for F-18. Video quality isn't top notch but it demonstrates what can be done. Of course, if you have more then one tablet/phone you don't have to squeeze everything on one device.

Oddly enough, the aircraft which has very robust landing gear in reality is one of the most "fragile" in DCS

Working on it, newest beta can grab screen area and display it on Android (Desktop Mirror feature).

MATRIC - potentially useful app for DCS?

I think someone already did the F-18, check MATRIC Discord #dcs channel or Community Gallery - F-18 -
MATRIC - potentially useful app for DCS?
AnarchyZG replied to AnarchyZG's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Here is something I cooked up today with MATRIC and DCS, this blog post contains instructions and export script https://blog.matricapp.com/jf-17-thunder-ufcp-with-matric -
After quite a while, I finally managed to dedicate some time for DCS and here is the result. This blog post https://blog.matricapp.com/jf-17-thunder-ufcp-with-matric contains instructions and export script. I hope you'll find it useful

I use combination of 2 apps: MATRIC running on Android tablet as button box (https://matricapp.com) DCS OSB running as overlay on windows over exported MFDs on a 14'' touch screen (https://github.com/tgudelj/osb-overlay) P.S. I'm the author of both apps so I guess I roll my own

Highly unlikely in most conceivable scenarios. Rafale is waaaay more capable (and waaay more expensive) aircraft in every respect. For illustration, Rafale can carry fueled and armed JF-17 as payload

Su-30MKK Full fid or FC3 version?
AnarchyZG replied to TaxDollarsAtWork's topic in Deka Ironwork Simulations
so, you don't have a problem with F-15 in DCS right? -
@ihopi I was wondering if it is possible to use DCS Device Server to output MFD/radar etc. video to browser or 3rd party app on mobile device? The reason I'm asking is that I'd like to try integrating MATRIC (https://matricapp.com) with DCS Device Server with the idea being that people can make their own custom cockpit layouts and integrate displays into their custom panels.

Su-30MKK Full fid or FC3 version?
AnarchyZG replied to TaxDollarsAtWork's topic in Deka Ironwork Simulations
Does ED permit FC3 (or for the sake of the argument FC3+, FC3++) level modules by 3rd party developers? Maybe in MAC if it is interoperable with DCS... Again, I have no idea how much info you guys actually have at your disposal but I'm convinced that a lot of "educated guesses" could and would be accepted gladly by the customers. -
It is especially difficult if you export targeting pod image, it is totally unusable
-
No, because not all aircraft have same number of MFDs with same aspect ratio
-
Provide unique alias for left and right F-16 MFCD so we do not need to switch configuration when switching from F-16 to other planes and vice-versa, Currently it uses generic LEFT_MFCD, RIGHT_MFCD

I find the JF-17 flight planning using F10 map perfect for multiplayer, any chance of Viper getting the same capability?
-
Typhoon is less mature then Rafale, basically because no one was in a hurry to upgrade Typhoons. In general, I tend to agree that Typhoon has greater potential for future upgrades due to larger airframe and more powerful engines, however, Rafale has a head start. As for the main disadvantage stated in the article, there's been talk of a new improved M88 engines offered for export with thrust of ~90kN which would put it on par with current eurojet engine.

DEKA please add baked-in reflections options

I'm not sure if 30XX would be justified purchase right now (unless you're using VR or 4k res), in my experience DCS is pretty much a RAM hog (32G is a must for online multiplayer with ground units) and CPU intensive (got better lately since it utilizes multiple cores), while GPU is not the limiting factor in most cases.
