F-22A Raptor mod enhancement mod
Nightstorm replied to Nightstorm's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Thank you for the feedback. The flight model was tweaked as well as I could get it to simulate some of the things that are published about the Raptor. Thrust vectoring is of course not present. The AIM-9X and its newer variants have excellent anti-countermeasures capabilities. And lastly, added active radar homing missiles must be added to the RWR symbols database in order for them to show up and I realized I never added the AIM-120D-3 or AIM-260 to that database. Thank you for pointing that out and I will update that mod. -
Updated 7/25/23 for 2.8.7.42583

The mod has a backup of all original files that are changed.

That would be in the model animation arguments. That was implemented in the model/code in the original Grinn mod. I had nothing to do with that. -
Yes, it's non-functional.

Yes, I don't know how else I can adjust the code to prevent that. The issue cropped up a few months ago when they changed the back-end code for AMRAAM's. Yes, but as I said above, it requires some knowledge of modding DCS. I also try to keep the warhead types the same. 120B and 260 are both Fox3 RADAR guided missiles. The AIM7 is a Fox 1 Semi-active guided. The Modern missile mod I did converted the 120B to the 120D. Nothing is encrypted and folder structure shows what needs to go where etc. -

You'll need to install the main Grinn F22 mod and then install my addition over top of it. It will work fine with Steam as well, however, I too started on Steam and switched to standalone pretty quickly. Stand alone gets updates faster than Steam and there is absolutely no benefit to using the Steam version that I'm aware of. You *may* be able to transfer your Steam purchase to Standalone. I know that it does not go the other way though. If you installed the base mod first before mine it should be showing up just fine. Well, the thing is, you can't just add additional weapons to all aircraft, some you can, like the F14 but others they have to be supported by the avionics. That's why I made that mod that replaces the AIM-120B with the 120D. It requires replacing the model file, loading the textures somewhere, and editing the AIM120Family.lua with the attributes you want the missile to have. In short, it requires some knowledge of modding DCS and isn't the easiest thing to explain. I may do another version that uses AIM-260. -

The server and other users would have to be running the mod. You'd have to edit the F-15C's loadout LUA. When you make a custom loadout, it will save it in your saved games folder here: .\Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor\UnitPayloads\F-15C.lua. You'd have to manually edit it and add the AIM-260. I've attached mine as an example. The loadouts will show up in the mission editor, but it will not allow you to add that missile to the plane directly as it's not supported. F-15C.lua You can't. Not without replacing an existing missile that's supported by the avionics. That's how I got the AIM-120D to work in the modern missiles mod, it replaced the AIM-120B. You could use that as an example and turn the 120B into the AIM260. -

It hasn't been updated for a few months now. I'll need to find time to fix it. -

No, there's no discord channel for it. I personally have no plans to create one. Updates are posted in this thread and generally due to other significant updates to DCS. Some new features are work in progress but no ETA. -

When I ran your mission, the BTR-80's did not spawn. I can see that they should've started right away. I opened up one of my missions and added a BTR-80 right in front of my parked aircraft and it spawned and started attacking everything. -

Ensure that you have the original Grinnelli F22 mod installed and working before you install this one OVERTOP of it. This is not a full mod and doesn't contain all of the files from the original. It replaces or adds files. -

Someone else reported something similar. I can't replicate the issue and that file doesn't have anything to do with tanks or any other armor assets. The file is the A2A_Missiles.lua and it's placed in the X:\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\AircraftWeaponPack folder. Make sure you removed the copy of it in your F22 folder as it's there by default. A long time ago I found that there couldn't be two copies of it. The other one is in your saved games folder. ..\Saved Games\DCS\Mods\aircraft\F-22A. Other than that, I don't have any idea. I'll take a look at your mission file though. Make sure that you run the script for the missiles you want that are placed in the root folder. There is a readme file called AAM_Readme.txt that explains them. And also note, that in the Mission Editor, the AIM-120D will still be called an AIM-120B but the missile and textures will be different, and most importantly, the performance will be too once in the sim. -

I updated the map pages to use only Israeli bases for the coordinates displays. I also removed the grid and labels to help declutter the maps. Both versions updated in first post. -
Military Assets for DCS by Currenthill

ED added the F15ESE to the RWR definitions file. That was the only change. They also evidently released a part of the mod in the coremods folder. I don't know if that was intentional or not, but its a pretty clear indication that it's coming soon. null null -

I have that happen from time to time and changing the mode from STT to TWS and back fixes it. I don't know exactly why it happens but I suspect it had to do with decrypting the the PMFD systems lua file to add additional pages to it. I was provided an unencrypted copy of the the MFD luas but never got a response when I asked about the PMFD. So, I did my best to replicate the existing functionality of the PMFD while also adding new pages to it. As with anything I've done with this, I welcome any idea or fixes that the community wants to help with. I'd be happy to credit and include them. -

Updated for DCS 2.8.6.41066 as of 6/8/23. The only addition was the F15ESE entry. I suppose that means we'll be getting it soon! -

Updated for the Sinai map / Open Beta 2.8.6.41066 with map pages, airbase coordinates and clocks. The coordinates were taken from the in-game map and probably don't match real-world GPS coordinates. That's likely because the in-game map isn't a sphere, sorry flat earthers. Both single and multi-player versions updated. Links in first post. -

There's not really much to the installation. You have to have the original F-22 mod installed and working. That requires the F-15C at a minimum or the Flaming Cliffs pack. Once you have that working, you overwrite the mod with whichever version you intend to use from the downloads on the first page. It all goes in the saved games folder. If you're having specific problems please provide more details on the symptoms so that someone can help. Note that the reason the base mod is required is because my add on IS NOT THE FULL MOD. Emphasis for clarity. It is not a repack and doesn't contain all of the files. Only those that have been added/changed. I just tested it yesterday on the new Sinai map, of course I haven't updated the map pages or clocks yet for that map, but it works fine otherwise with the map and the current Open Beta from 6/8/23. The ATC approach requires you to be in those parameters, less than 250 kts and if the flaps move it will deactivate it. It was working fine the last I checked and in fact will even land you on a runway with your gear up. -

Well, you can already select the various bay doors if you choose when using AIM-9M. Those controls are already in place by default. Left,Right,Center,All bays can be opened manually. As to the rest: this is a good read that will answer your questions when it comes to the 9X. https://qr.ae/pyyVZp -

I know that is IS using it. It's defined in the F22.lua. And when I first attempted to use a custom RADAR I didn't have it defined as a sensor like I do now. What happened then was that the player could use it, but AI didn't. My wingman didn't have a RADAR, no RWR indicator and no Fox 3's. Now that it's defined, all of that works normally. I've done the same experiments that you have and from what I can tell there are upper limits to what it will do in the FC3 based (F15C) avionics. The max range is 160 miles on the scope, and it can detect and lock targets at those ranges depending on size, speed, altitude and orientation to your aircraft. In testing I can lock high speed, high altitude targets that are nose hot and shoot them down at 160 miles. Of course due to the closure rate, the missile isn't traveling 160 miles. I encourage you to keep experimenting though. You may uncover something that we haven't yet. Most of this is trial and error -

You should be able to edit your own posts. Immediately above your first post I addressed the issue of the missiles hitting your own aircraft. And lastly, the F22 does in fact carry its AIM-9's in the side bays.
