  1. I want whatever it is you’re smoking.
  2. You wouldn’t have to if the systems on the Hind were functional. Pedal input disables the hold mode and just tells the aircraft “just keep me stable”. You would still be centering the ball yourself, I think. it’s not like the FPS on the Blackhawk that coordinates turns for you.
  3. No it wouldn’t. Again, we have it already in the Hind. Regardless of your pedal’s dead zone, the autopilot won’t do anything until movement in the pedals is detected. Dead zone is irrelevant.
  4. These problems would probably largely disappear whenever ED gets around to finishing the autopilot on the thing.
  5. Don’t forget about how the yaw autopilot goes all wonky when the pedals are returned to center.
  6. Understanding is not required. It is helpful to those who have used it before and it is an option in every other helo module.
  7. To be fair, the majors conflicts over the past two decades have been insurgencies. Radar guided munitions would be useless in that regards so it isn't surprising radar Hellfire use has been minimal at best. It would be interesting to see if the Russians have used any helicopter fcr-guided munitions (poor performance of the Russian military as a whole, aside).
  8. No, it would be easy to implement. Movement of the pedals disables the autopilot and tells the bird to just keep itself stable while I turn. Fundamentally, no different than holding down the trim button to turn the Black Sharks autopilot off to execute a turn. It's actually partially implemented now: in the Hind, lead into a turn with the pedals. The issue is the AP goes haywire when you let go of the pedals, regardless of how slowly you do it.
  9. But what does that do? I mean, how does that affect the controls.
  10. In the Axis Tune options there is a checkbox for Slider option. What does that do exactly and in what situations would I want to check that option?
  11. You're not doing anything wrong. In aerodynamic trim, the Apache crabs a bit.
  12. At some point, we have to recognize that this is a game that has the limitations of such. Even with the AI, I'm essentially one person operating two positions.
  13. It completely disables your flight computer. Don't even map it; there really isn't a situation in DCS you'd ever use it.
  14. The people asking for a reset are coming from using them on birds like the Hind and the Shark. They know how to handle the drastic pitch change.
  15. The way it's working now, since you have to pretty much be in trim to begin with, it's not even a heading hold and more of a glorified trim hold. Probably will be fleshed out more in future updates.
  16. At the moment, the SMEs are saying many different things. SMEs on Reddit are saying SCAS modeling is off, SMEs on these forums say heading hold is a thing but Casmo on his channel said it isn't implemented yet. It would be helpful if there was some consensus amongst the SMEs.
  17. That's not the same as holding down the trim button for every movement. I'm more or less contesting that holding the trim button is the "proper" way to do things Casmo just released a video about the trimmer. Same thing; he does not hold down the trim button. He makes adjustments then hits trim.
  18. Joystick does matter, as well as other things. Pressing and holding trim tends to increase the sensitivity and those with unsteady hands may find some difficulty. I personally better control DCS birds by moving controls into position then trimming (except for KA-50 without flight director, of course). EDIT: Cockpit inflight of a Greek Apache. Notice how even in some turns he isn't holding the trim.
  19. If you figure out if it actually work and what parameters need to be met in order for it to work, please drop a post, lol.
  20. RedKite's recent video about the Apache trim actually demonstrates from a practical standpoint why a trim reset could be useful.
  21. And just like you've used it before, so have the people that are asking for one. So obviously they don't have that issue in other helos they fly.
  22. Be gradual with it at first. If you have to be going 10 knots, then go at 10 knots and land her gently. Landing from 0ish knots will come.
  23. What you posted misrepresented the "feature". It's essential just holding trim the user inputs. It's not really a heading hold anymore than trimming a Huey with pedal to maintain a heading and it being called "heading hold".
  24. So it's just normal trimming, then. Perhaps we should move away from using the term "heading hold". Some people are coming from the Hind where it actually held your heading without pedal input. The way I read what you stated, it's just holding trim.
  25. I know what a heading hold is. The problem is my heading isn't being held. Unless I trim the pedals. In that case though, it's not even a heading hold and just normal trimming.
