  1. Small oversights are to be expected, but a severe FPS hit on high end computers and the unnecessary loss of activations are not small problems. Not to mention that it seems that the FPS issues was known yet the update was released anyway (in that case why even bother having beta testers). This may seem like the crazy idea of a mad man, but instead of trying to do too much at the same time, maybe ED should concentrate on making sure the core game works first before trying to develop further modules (and fairly useless modules like P-51).
  2. NO GOD!!! WHY IGOR???:cry_2: WHY DIDN'T YOU TAKE ME INSTEAD!!!
  3. As with the jet sims, there have been quite a few sims involving the Apache. The Hind has been involved in far more real world conflicts than the Apache against a variety of targets (armored in otherwise) in a variety of terrain. Imagine the versatility and gameplay options (not to mention the challenge of flying without modern aviaonics). Probably a reason why the flight sim genre nearly fell out in the 1990's; too many games that rehashed the same concepts. Part gunship, part transport helicopter, part high altitude assault platform, part Septnaz support helo is the way to go.
  4.:lol::lol::lol: Seriously!!?? I can count on one hand the number of combat helo sims out there. One would need a NASA super computer to tally the number of combat jet sims out there.
  5. I find it amusing that we're about to wrap up the first decade of the 21st century and game companies have still failed to make it easy to add something non game changing like an aircraft paint job (creators of Modman for president in 2012:thumbup:). Anywho, great job on the skins. Kinda like being in a special forces unit while playing the campaign; best aircraft with the coolest paint jobs.
  6. Jet sims are over rated :smilewink: All kidding aside, we've had enough jet sims. I say more helicopters!!!
  7. Ever since I've played Hind from DI I've been itching for a true to life simulation. With all the avionics data readily available, (probable) lack of any classified systems, battle locations such as Afghanistan, the Ogden War, Cambodian-Vietnamese Conflict, Libya-Chad War, Iran-Iraq War, the various Balkans Wars, Russian Peacekeepers and South African mercenaries in Sierra Leon among other wars. I'm all for a down and dirty guerrilla war near the Khyber Pass :joystick:
  8. Personally, I've gotten tired of the same old "threat to the U.S. that must be dealt with by an elite squad sized unit that must do the task although it would be better and faster accomplished by sending at least a brigade" story line in pretty much every game with Tom Clancy's name on it. I remember first time playing Rainbow Six: Vegas. Being a long time Rainbow Six player since the very first game I was disappointed. I couldn't figure out if this was Rainbow Six: Vegas or Rainbow Six: Downtown Fallujah 2004 (If you've played the level were you have to get into the casino in the beginning of the game you'd know what I mean). That's why I like the book "Hunt for Red October." A race against time to secure the Red October through internal/clandestine means, with both sides not wanting to engage in an open confrontation with the other.
  9. Approximately 7 hours flight time in the sim and I've only just moved to weapons employment. After learning how to fly the Black Shark, weapons delivery is very easy. Although I'm still hit or miss with the rockets (pun intended). I used to be miss and hit with the landing (as in miss the runway and hit the ground very hard) but I have gotten much better.
  10. Can't speak for all militaries and situations but the following is based on my experiences for my unit and SOP from our major command: For normal missions: We knew 48 hours out of the mission(s). Day of consisted of a brief two hours prior to take-off time. About an hour out both pilots and crew chiefs/gunners pre-flighted the aircraft. Standby/contingencies: If we assumed MEDEVAC escort duties (we were a UH-60 unit so that was new for us) major command SOP dictated that we had to have blades spinning within three minutes of the alarm sounding and be up in the air and on our way within seven minutes. The gunships in our area operated similar to us for both preplanned and last minute ops. If an aircraft had to return to base for maintenace anyone avalible (including operations personnel as we had been given instruction on preflighting aircraft since we were a small detachment from our main battalion) assisted in preflight. The pilot in command (PC), maintenace officer, and the duty officer made the determination if an aircraft had to be switched out. Probably not much to do with this game so consider this your "useless information for the day."
  11. Maybe for future training installments for this game, the player could be instructed on assessing if the combat damage and/or system failure prevents mission completion. I agree it would be mission dependent (I'm not going to press forward with damage/failures for a recon mission but for close air support for friendlies engaged in combat I'd fly with half only half a rudder and no auto stabilization features if necessary):pilotfly:
  12. Solved my issue. For some reason, changing the key assignment from the default to another key worked. I don't ask questions, I just count my self blessed and go kill some stuff.
  13. I am getting this same non-fire issue. The target is lased and proper hud symbology appears and the two circles over lap but when I hold the trigger nothing happens.
  14. Thanks to everyone for your help. Now I just leave the HDG Hold off until I reach the runway, then I turn it on and do my normal hover checks. Now If I can just get nack of landing ( I don't crash, my landing is just sloppy). A few more hours of practice and I'll move on to weapons and employment!:pilotfly:
  15. Airway: I decided to reinstall the drivers AND turn off Heading Hold and I do not get a rudder input problem anymore (just the natural low speed yaw). I think my issue was a combination of input device problems and the auto pilot. I am confused about this; at point and in what circumstances should the different autopilot modes be used? If Heading Hold causes issues on taxi then it seems odd that all the checklists out there have it turned on prior to taxi.
  16. A little update: To clarify my issue: my rudder pedals are centered but in the game they will not center and are stuck giving a little bit of right rudder, prevent me from having even a smooth-ish take-off. The input also appears as centered when I hit Ctrl+Enter but the rudder on the aircraft is not. I unplugged all controllers, deleted all registry files, deleted the Saitek folder, reinstalled, reconnected, rebooted, and I am still having this right rudder issue. Just to make sure it wasn't me I unplugged the rudders and the issue disappeared (even with heading hold on). I then went through all the steps again and this time I have a left yaw issue (no left rudder, just a heavy left yaw so I don't know if that is actually rudder pedal related). I get a left rudder issue in LOFC but I have no issues with my ruuder in IL-2 1946.
  17. Greetings. My purchase of this so far excellent simulator has led me to these forums (considering I also own LOFC I'm surprised I haven't come sooner). Long story short I came to the conclusion that my difficulty with controlling this helicopter came down to Ka-50's rudder falling to center, causing me to yaw all over the place. I searched around and found instructions on deleting the registry. Did that several times but no luck. I deleted the related files in the "Input" folder but again no luck. I have no idea what else could be wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
