All the panels are built in Helios, except some special ones like the mfd's, cdu, etc... and those are 3d rendered. The only thing we use are the external windows from DCS- CDU, MFD'S. All of the Gauges will be native to Helios as well. You can create custom panels with the built in panel editor if you need an extra switch, not hard and pretty quick. We will have art packs for different aircraft so that (keystrokes/switches/panels) are ready to go!

We are working hard on full touch cockpit software along with a complete steel powder coated frame made for our Aces II A-10 seat. Right now I'm almost doing complete ramp starts in falcon. Just a little more code and we will be there. Pretty amazing!!

Excellent JOB on VID , you have a Gift GA !!

I have been using the Acer 23 inch touch and the HP 2105tm. Both work really well and are 1980*1050 res.
-
I would say the 7 inch should be plenty.
-
Do the F-16, and they can watch the money come in!
-
Exactly, I will have the entire Right console on the touchscreen. The CDU will look like the mfd's in our video. I'm pretty certain that we will have access to the cdu data (dcs) in which we will be able to place it behind the virtual CDU bezel. Easy, Cheap, and fully functional.

I'm curious to see what you come up with since you seem so particular about small details. ( not bad, I see it all the time with pilot's) btw, the layoff sucks, and the bad part is it could be anyone based on our crappy economy. I hope you find a better replacement!
-
Man, I wish they made those undock-able where you could move and resize!

I'm doing all the fabrication, and the pit you see in my video is the first one( The Universal Modular Cockpit (U.M.C). I'm still working on separating the monitor mount so it will be possible to ship. It is all steel and will be powder coated to any color desired. The stick mounts will be universal for the cougar, Warthog, Saitek, etc, and will be 100 percent adjustable vertical/horizontal. The Aces seats come pre-built and shipped in 2 boxes. I have the F-16 finished , and the A-10 will be here next week. I was actually at Home Depot buying some MDF, and I lowered a sheet off the high rail onto the wood cart. The first one was fine, but the second sheet gave me a second degree sprain in my neck. It hurts like He$$ and I will take it easy for a few days!

I have the FMS already finished in 3d for Helios, all I need is DCS A-10!! Again, the hp 2105tm or the Acer 23 incher-- about $250-300.
-
The HUD view works , but I get your point, I would like to mod the vc with only the stuff you need.
-
It is exciting, and a fun project to be part of. The cost of the software will be affordable, we want to make it available to anyone.
-
DCS a-10 will do the same, but the extraction is behind the Helios mfd, not part of our software.
-
The ones I use is the HP2105tm and the Acer 23 incher, they cost any where from $250 each to $320. The touchscreens do help with interaction, basically it is like your in the plane with very close layouts of panels. I say it is much faster typing on the ICP in falcon then if I used the mouse. I would also say the same for the mfd's. The big thing is using track IR and trying to nail a switch with the mouse, you have to keep your head still. It works ok, but the touch eliminates that issue totally. So, I would say yes to it is faster and easier with fixed instruments. One thing is we are going for realism, just in a new way. The cockpits will have the same function as the one in sim.

Cost is big , and touchscreens are getting cheaper. A physical cockpit with real switches will cost much more then a touch setup. Helios will allow a user to build his favorite aircraft cockpit (Virtual), program it in the any sim, and then use it. I say Falcon, DCS BS, and A-10 will be mostly used and we are currently designing full virtual cockpits that will fit one screen or multiple monitors. It is a very versatile way of being able to use one setup and please yourself with more then one sim. Me personally, I have had a f-16 cockpit with switches, cool yes, but sometimes I like to jump in the KA50 and take a spin. My f-16 pit was useless for the KA50. Now, I can rotate my lcd's to the position desired, load my aircraft profile, and watch the screens populate with a functional cockpit of the particular sim I'm flying. The software is awesome and is the most fun I have had in pit building.

hey guys, here is a little vid showing Helios in action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYwmz8vASec&feature=player_embedded

Also Like to add that we are using Touchscreens! this one, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5719289&CatId=1449 or this, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5353782&CatId=1449

Any thing on A-10C FLIGHT MODEL - E3 impressions
Flim replied to hannibal's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
I had a chance to fly the A-10c at E3! I did not get a lot of stick time because MATT was having to much fun...LOL, but I flew it in the patch to/landing and my first thought was this is not the flight model in FC2. It seemed like how I would image flying a big heavy straight wing airplane. I fly a citation excel(straight wing jet) for a living , so comparing to my knowledge and real experience , I would say Matt and the boys did a hell of a job trying to make you all happy! -
The in game extracted data (mfd data) --- we do not control with Helios. We can move the virtual gauges ( hsi, adi, rmi, etc...) to different screens on the same and networked computers.
-
Yes, we have Gadroc testing 6 monitors right now. We are not doing the in game extracting(falcon mfd's), but providing the gauges and virtual cockpit parts, such as bezels and panels, A-10 FMS/bezels etc... I'm testing 3 touchscreens with a full F-16 cockpit layout, but with a click I can easily switch to the black shark cockpit which populates across my 3 touchscreens. We are in testing and will post more info/videos soon showing what HELIOS can do.
-
That seems it is for the box, I don't have mine on hand, but they are smaller then the cougar( base).
-
Well, in your case just get a 22 incher and Velcro the TM MFD's on each side. Then run some gauge software, btw no noticeable frame rate hit, and your good to go.
-
We did the A-10 for TM really quick ( short notice) , in which the software was in early beta. Basically the SCsimulations Helios software( designed by GADROC) will be the link between real or touch screen switches. Also you will be able to make you own touchscreen mfd's and ICP or any panel you desire- then make it work in sim via touch. Here is an example of running F-16 functional MFD's and ICP( using all touch) it works like an ipad or iphone. SCS will have the A-10 version of the mfd's done for HELIOS when DCS-A10 is released. As you can see below, I'm using the HP 2105tm and also have used the ACER 23 inch touch screen, both work very well. Now if your really motivated, you can have 3 touchcreens and be able to have an entire (any aircraft) cockpit functional on the touchsreens(virtual touch cockpit) or stick with one monitor and tab through different consoles. Now, if you don't want touch, then you still can run all the instruments or design your own in Helios. We will have more info and better pics soon.
