  1. Well, usually I won't waste my time saying anything in post like this, but I assume you have a rift ... Correct?
  2. I'm not sure he is putting anything down per say... The initial post is what got my attention and while projection is cool, works pretty well; you are just enlarging the monitors. The Fov, SA, and overall experience is not mind blowing. In my case, I realized how much money was invested/(space Req) which made me change my mind. To each his own, but Zahry was trying to make a case against OR in the initial post which is a little misleading. Most of the problems with DK1 are worked out, and come Cv1, it will be a mind blowing experience. Now, will everyone be able to use it... I'm not sure, there will be those who it will not work for. If it was that bad, Ed would be not wasting time adding code to make it work. It would be nice to get Matt's view on the Dk2 version...
  3. Everyone has their opinions... I'm just stating where I see things going! I'm all about immersion and have 300+ hours in level D full motion sims to 7000 hours of real flight time. Also, I have built and tested every home visual option available, including the so called holy grail projection system. I can tell it's okay, but for the money, space, time, immersion... the Rift will be more used than 2d monitors in the near future.
  4. Have you used the rift... in the current form, new update? I have used both... check out my cube thread! I tested a 5 projection (360+180 vertical) system... was cool, but still cannot compare to the immersion (rift) from a computer chair. That is why I sold all of my projectors and went with seat control mount only option. Plus... it saves so much space, which allows a person to have a fixed wing and helo setup (seat & controls) in a small space. Once Dk2 is released followed by CV1, it will be no contest and a majority of the simmers here will be using it. I called this a long time ago... ask Matt!
  5. I have to say that DCS is one of the top experiences in the rift so far... I'm using the hydra to add 6dot and works perfect. Good job guys! Really, I have been a real pit guy for a long time, but the rift allows you to jump between different aircraft without spending thousands of dollars. This is the future!
  6. It's cool for a full pit, but I disagree with you about OR... this from years of sim hardware experience, plus the only person to build a full cube projection display.
  7. So far looks good to me... Now just need some better res!
  8. I had that working months ago... very useful. Once DK2 is out, then we can play ball, because you need 6dot.
  9. Selling my real A-10 throttles ( only in US ) They are not the C model, but can be very usable. Asking 450$ plus shipping
  10. Thanks Matt... I knew you guys would jump on board eventually!
  11. 4k might be pushing it, but when the rift comes out , it will be ready. I'm sure custom drivers are in the works to bypass performance issues. It's semi playable now...
  12. It's funny to me how many opinions are posted with a majority of them have no experience with the rift. I will be solely using the rift.
  13. You can make it work with beta 2.7 and nthusim, plus open track.
  14. I used an older version on nthusim.... Also, I have the razor hydra for positional tracking using opentrack. Opentrack is 1000 times better than trackir. (using the Rift) With positional tacking you can lean and get a better view of the instruments/mfd's. I was using the targeting pod just fine.
  15. I guess a new Nthusim build came out today.... need to test it out!
  16. Would any rift dudes like to try an Mp flight later this evening?
  17. Got it working pretty well at .04 separation with an older version of nthusim. the best setup yet! Flew for a while... I can see where this is going and it will be awesome!
  18. burner... any chance you can share your setup file... might do some testing later!
  19. Lol, wait a year and see how many folks will be rifting compared to buying 4k tv's. I'm thinking the rift will be the winner.
  20. Ed is working on it.... We will see a new rift prototype at Ces in Jan! Rumor... New screen, 6dot , new software
  21. There is a big difference between the rift and a desktop monitor! It is guaranteed to be game changer for Eagle and the Dcs series... I don't fly without it, even in the current state.
  22. It has to do with the shader analyzer, must be off in tridef.... but with it off it does cause lag with head movement. When tridef comes out with there dx10/11 update, I'm sure that will help. Hopefully DCS boys can get it going as well.
