I noticed in Wags' video there is no fly-out triangle symbol in TWS shown when the AMRAAMs were fired, as there would be in STT. Is this WIP or is there really no fly out cue in TWS?
-
10 is the maximum amount of regular trackfiles, so, 10. 10 is also the maximum AMRAAM count.

Understood, appreciate the reply! Great job to everyone working on the Hornet.

Wags' video shows BIAS scan centering to basically just be MAN, except you place it with TDC depress and it doesn't follow the cursor. Based on playing other sims I was under the impression BIAS is intended to force the L&S to stay in the scan volume, but still let it be shifted unlike AUTO which is glued to the L&S center. Hence, it's "biased" toward the L&S. If it's gonna work as the video demonstrated, BIAS is almost pointless. Also, for MAN: I thought you're supposed to TDC depress, like in BIAS, and it'll set the center there - not follow the cursor, as it works in the Viper. Maybe this is a difference in IRL software revisions though. Thanks!

Lol, pretty much. Even if they don't know for sure I guess what you're saying makes sense, to have the HAFUs render above the SAM rings.
-
Would be surprised if ED's documentation would specify what renders over what but who knows. I recommend using the DCLTR function though - I think this type of thing is precisely what it's for.
-
That's definitely a bug. Good find.

The radar is missing proper range/altitude exclusion for Single Target Track acquisition unfortunately, at the moment at least.

Courtesy of Santi, track replay is now attached

Bumping this, track is attached

Yep that's a great feature @daarseth, but curious about this SA thing. I will comment and see if Jello replies.
-
The Fighter Pilot Podcast did . At about 1:50, Jello mentions the RECCE button "is useful for the Situational Awareness display". Does ED have info on this? Thanks
-
Wags did mention Spotlight @sk000tch: "Much of the team is now focused on big updates for the Hornet! This entails Track While Scan radar mode, AACQ, SPOT" I am hoping with TWS we get at least AACQ too. Regardless, Spotlight is a priority.

For ATFLIR I guess Litening counts, but that itself is definitely not complete. HARM is about 70% complete. I don't think Az/El is coming this month, and there's other features not even mentioned for this month yet to do for it. Also, JDAM/JSOW are not complete either.

Bump. @ED, is this being added with the new Hornet radar updates?
-
I think when in Single Target Track there should be an "RTS" (Return to Search) indication above the search mode (e.g. RWS). This is properly displayed when using ACM mode, but it is not apparent in regular STT. I think some figures in the DCS Hornet manual even show this. This is to show the radar isn't actually in RWS or TWS or VS anymore, but upon exiting STT then it will "Return to Search" in whatever mode shown EDIT: confirmed, see Figure 151 page 263 RTS_indication_missing.trk

Yeah as slik said, talking about it being potentially incorrect. Quite minor, but it's a thing nonetheless. And I think ED is focused on the radar at the moment so it might be a good time.

I saw that a developer of another Hornet flight sim noted that the color option in RDR ATTK->DATA never actually changes the color of the TDC, only the HAFUs. (So the TDC is yellow either way, unboxing COLOR just removes the yellow and red HAFU coloring). It was said to be 'clearly documented this way,' so I was hoping ED could double check to see if their info can verify this.

When aircraft are close together (like in a tight formation) a Doppler radar often picks them up as one hit and thus processes one trackfile, for what is really two airplanes. RAID mode makes the radar do a very fine scan to try to "break up" one trackfile into two (or potentially more).

[CANNOT REPRODUCE] TGT waypoint cannot be moved using HUD.
Jak525 replied to Martin2487's topic in Bugs and Problems
Pretty sure this is WIP implementation anyway. Moving the TGT directly on the HUD is a function of the AG radar. -
Yeah this would also be a benefit. Of course you could just look at the speed and direction of the trackfiles in TWS/RWS, but VS would present it most intuitively. This is at the downside of not creating trackfiles with distance in VS though
-
The one advantage of VS I believe is it has the best possible range. So if you're really trying to find targets as far out as possible you could try VS. otherwise yeah not very useful, it doesn't even generate trackfiles meaning you wouldn't get altitude or direction information generated. Possibly would create angle-only trackfiles so you'd still see a HAFU on the SA but it'd have no range info, just an azimuth, like a jammed target. I don't see why we wouldn't get VS mode eventually, it's one of the 3 primary radar modes even if probably the least useful.

From months ago - Ranked trackfiles? Other building blocks of TWS
Jak525 replied to sk000tch's topic in DCS: F/A-18C
Thanks for this post. I hope ED replies. Side note on centering: in TWS there is a manual option to force manual centering and ignore the L&S. -
[NOT A BUG] DDI: Unwanted switch from SA to Stores page
Jak525 replied to LeCuvier's topic in Bugs and Problems
One thing to note, I think one function is actually missing atm. While it works fine bringing up the STORES/RDR ATTK on L/RDDI when you enter the master mode, I believe if you switch out of those you can bring them back up via the Sensor Control Switch. So, say you go into AA then switch the right DDI to the HUD repeater format, if you SCS right it should go back to RDR ATTK. Also, even mentioned in the DCS FA-18 manual is the intended ability to bring up the HSI or SA on your Center AMPCD with Sensor Control Switch down. Down will bring up HSI from something else, then down again will swap the HSI for the SA and back and again.
